The coziness of this place is unreal! The restaurant is set inside of a house, which gives it a super cool, home-y vibe. Not only is the setting home-y, but the staff is all very kind and quick to greet guests. The good old home feel doesn't stop with the setting or service, but it carries through to the food as well. The food comes out looking like a true, delicious, home-cooked meal with the flavor to back it up! For an appetizer I ordered the Charlie's Chowder, which is the best chowder I've ever had, in New England or otherwise. It comes packed with scallops, lobster, and cod, and is absolutely to die for. For my main course, I ordered the Lemon Caper Cod, which was also wonderful. The piece of cod is huge, and is served with a bed of rice, seasonal veggies (mine were carrots) and, of course, capers. The fish was tender and cooked to perfection and, while I'm not typically a huge carrot fan, the steamed carrots they made were sweet and tasty! If I knew how they make them I'd become a much bigger fan of carrots. From start to finish, everything about this place is top notch! A definite must try! read more

First time lunch at the Stomping Grounds... after a recommendation of a friend... and SO glad we did! I wasn't starving, so I ordered what SEEMED to be lighter; Sea and Sand, which consists of a stuffed quahog and a cup of Charlie's Chowder. Just a quahog and a cup of chowder! You will NEVER have chowder with more seafood in it! At least 4 scallops, a large lump of crab, some pieces of lobster, and a lotta fish. A bowl would be a meal. read more

Our lunch at Stomping Ground was fantastic. All three of us had great meals and the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was great - rock and roll posters and records adorn the walls, and the music they were playing was outstanding. I don't get to this area often, but I will be back! read more

The food and the service is always top notch. We are regulars. We always leave Stomping Grounds with a smile and a full belly.

Great drinks and food was awsome!! Service was great as well! If we didn't live in Tulsa, Oklahoma we'd be back!

What a unique place! Ordering their Reuben, review later. Celebrating our 34th Anniversary a couple days early, Jan wanted a BUZZARDS BAY sweatshirt. Added: The Reuben was extraordinary! Everything I look for: dry, crisp rye bread, not soggy from sauerkraut juice. Nicely trimmed corn beef, not stringy or chewy, perfect kraut/corned beef/swiss cheese/dressing ratio. Highly recommend, among top five in the nation! read more

Went for lunch on a Tuesday. No crowds and good food. Love the swordfish sandwich. Cozy place with small rooms.

This lobster roll was among the best things I've ever eaten. It's a bit of a misnomer, since it comes on a brioche bun and not a typical roll, which means some lobstee pieces end up falling out, but the taste is perfect. No price is listed ("market price"), and it's not cheap (was $36 when I got it), but it was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. The lobster tasted SO FRESH and succulent! Big, chunky pieces of meat (nothing scrappy) and it tasted infused with butter (but not drenched/greasy). It was amazing. The slaw that came with it was really good too! It was a classy restaurant slaw (lightly dressed and vinegary, not mayonaisey). The restaurant is very cute; a converted classic Victorian house with little dining spaces in different rooms. If you're looking for a nice dining experience and some really good food in the area, you should check it out! read more

I made a reservation for lunch for five women. Everyone was very pleased with the ambiance and the service. The menu was limited, but the sandwiches were excellent. I ordered the swordfish sandwich which was on Special with mango salsa. The place was not overcrowded, despite the fact that it was tourist season. Prices were the same as what you would find downtown. Alcohol was available, but we did not order any. I liked it so much that I went back a week later and found pretty much the same experience. I would not however recommend this place for dinner given it's very limited dinner menu coupled with rather high prices for the environment. As a lunch spot, I give it five stars. read more

When I first walked up to the restaurant I was confused. What felt like I was walking up to my New Englander friend's parent's house, suddenly became a low lit dining room perfect for a date. Homey, welcoming, etc. the staff definitely made you feel like you were comfortable and at home. Plenty of drinks on the menu for whatever you're in the mood for whether it be a local craft brew in a can to house special cocktails. I settled for a bowl of Charlie's Chowder on this cold evening and boy was I in for a surprise! The chowder was light and runny like a soup (I prefer my chowders a lil thicker ;) ) but LOADED with seafood. At least 2 whole lobster claws, plenty of meat, and a whole scallop! That's more seafood than most places when you've order 4 bowls of chowder! Not perfect for large groups but who cares?! I'm definitely adding this to my MUST HAVES when in the area! read more

OH my goodness. so for some background, been in the cape for a few days and really wanted a lobster roll okay? lobster trap was way too crowded and i've never been one for a touristy food place. we said screw the line, let's try this place out, and my god am i glad we came here stomping grounds grille is the cutest, most comforting restaurant ive ever been to. featured inside of a literal house! it had all sorts of musical decorations with different vinyls, posters and prints on the walls (my vibe exactly). we came at about 6:45 on a thursday and were served immediately our server leane was so so so so nice. very personable, attentive and quick. she got us situated, read us the specials multiple times (thanks mom) and recommended some meals. we started with the fig, scallop, and gruyère flatbread (jaw dropping) and the potato wedges with BACON WALNUT DIP. BRO. these were the best apps i've ever had in my life. i could have just eaten these. such a great flavor so unique so perfect. my entree was the lobster roll (cold) that came w slaw and chips. Huge huge sandwich that was pretty tasty ... but i couldn't stop thinking ab my apps.... again a really awesome spot. give it a try 5/5 read more

Everything was wonderful! We made same day reservations and they were able to accommodate a group of 6 plus an infant. Most of us ordered a stuffed quahog or chowder and both were fabulous. The filet with lobster was a huge portion and delicious! The shrimp and lobster in a tarragon sherry sauce was equally good as were the salads, fig pizza, and lobster ravioli. The drinks were also very good - their take on a cosmo and a fruity gin concoction. Our server was friendly, attentive, and informative. We will definitely return and only regret we didn't learn of Stomping Grounds sooner. read more

My wife and I were talking the other day about some of the best seafood we've had in Massachusetts. We keep talking about the seafood chowder we had at the Stomping Grounds. It was literally the best chowder in New England, hands down. We've had chowder from P town to Portland Maine, this was the best for sure. Its a small spot that I feel a lot of people would miss if they weren't looking for it. Friendly staff too. Don't skip this one! read more

I loved the food. I got the crabby on land, it was cooked perfectly. the atmosphere was very relaxing. The staff were very friendly too.

We are on Cape Cod for a family trip, two families with a couple of significant others and a total of 11 people. Our plan was to go to The Lobster Trap but the wait was 1 1/2 hours. One family of four decided to wait it out but we were hungry and found Stomping Grounds Grille on Yelp instead. Wow, are we glad we came to this hidden gem! The restaurant is the first floor of a renovated house. The decor was cozy, eclectic and vintage with stained glass lamps, framed album covers from the 60-80's on the walls and a record player in the smaller dining room. This was totally our family's vibe as we are from Northern California and it reminded us of something you would find in San Francisco (minus the house part). The waitress was friendly and helpful when we asked for suggestions and the food was amazing! I could've eaten the flatbread as a meal. It had fig jam, scallops, and Gruyère cheese, a magical combination. The Spuds Mackenzie was roasted potato wedges served with a Gorgonzola bacon and walnut dip. It was so delicious we begged for a little extra to put on other parts of our dinner. My daughter and son had the dinner portion of the lobster raviolis and they said the appetizer size would've been enough. It came with big chunks of lobster on top. My other son got the cold lobster roll which was delicious and came with a bag of Cape Cod chips and cole slaw. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich, another great choice, my daughter's boyfriend got the seafood chowder and I got a half salad with a crab cake. Everything was top notch and I give 5 stars to the chef, the vibe and service. I'm glad we skipped the crowds so we could linger after dinner for great conversation with our drinks. This is truly a hidden gem if you want an authentic, unique experience and a high quality meal! read more

Great service and ambiance. The food was delicious and a good variety. A bit pricy, but a good value.

Great nostalgic atmosphere for music buffs. Loved the food. Wonderful menu. Service was a bit slow and not very cheerful though. I'd try it again. read more

One of the best restaurants at Cape Cod during our recent trip. The outside looks like a house and the inside gives you the homely feeling. Service was attentive and excellent. All the dishes we had: Stomping Greens, Stomping Wings, and Buzzards Bay Casserole are very tasty. The sticky rice in the Casserole dish is by far the best, even better than most Asian places. It's a place we love to come back again and try all other dishes. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch and found the place pretty quiet. Basically had the place to ourselves. I guess they're usually busy for dinner. We ordered their chowder and their Pastrami Special & Lobster Roll both were very good and could only eat half my sandwich along with an IPA of course. Service was excellent, atmosphere very nice and pleasant. it's a really cool place! So if you're in the area definitely give it a try. We were told that dinner gets really busy and could be a wait so best to check for reservations. read more

What a great niche' of a restaurant. Quaint, welcoming and great for families or date night. The staff is beyond friendly and attentive to your needs. I believe the menu has something for everyone. Amazing food in a small family owned quaint restaurant. BEST LOBSTER ROLL I ever had! So good that we dine there three times in one week!

Friendly, caring, above and beyond service (Leanne was fantastic as hostess and server at the bar). The food was top notch. I had chicken Oscar, cooked perfectly and so flavorful. My husband had a little crock of scallops with bacon and Gruyère with mashed potatoes which he devoured. He enjoyed the Buzzards Bay IPA as well. We had to sit at the bar because they were packed. We were fine w that because it was late and we were just thankful for a seat and some good food. They had been trying to close the kitchen when we walked in but seated us anyway (which we did not expect but were so grateful for). Great location, classy (yet casual) environment, friendly staff, excellent food. Check this place out if in the area. They definitely earned their 5 stars! read more

Ambiance was great. Music and decor brought us back to our roots and the 70s. Drinks were great- inspired by song lyrics. Service was fun and friendly. Restaurant was clean and odor free. We both had the sea and sand- delicious stuffed quahog and chowder- the best we've had on the cape. We also had the wings- they were as described in the menu. The chowder was frothed highlight of the meal. We will definitely be back when I'm the area. read more

Was in the area, and thanks to Yelp for helping me find this gem. Great food and great service. Got some kind of potato wedges for an appetizer, chicken sandwich, and a crab cake sandwich. All exceeded my expectations. Service was so friendly and helpful. Ambiance was great as well. Inside a house. Seating inside and outside. A definite go to for me whenever I'm in the area. You can tell when the owner is really passionate about the food they put in front of you. Such is the case here. We started off with the hummus plate with extra veggies as we're gluten free, an abundant stomping greens salad with fresh swordfish on top. And finished with a gluten free flourless cake. Staff were overly accommodating with our GF needs and the vibe inside was so cool. Will return every time we drive out to the cape going forward. read more

Phenomenal is the word that I would use to describe the food that I ate from this incredible hole in the wall with a infusion different from everywhere else around, you can taste the Love given to each and every menu item 2nd only to the incredible service that you're provided whether you choose the bar or one of their completely unique dining experience rooms. Partner that with my incredible personal interaction with Dana, a frequent patron, capped my night to make it a five star evening. Thank you Dana for your openness and intrigue. Comments to the Chef perfecto, to Front of the house you run it perfectly. 5 Stars. read more

The quality of food and portions are top-notch! We had the little necks appetizer and the Stomping Grounds salads: one with scallops and one with a crab cake. Both delicious! What a hidden gem! We found this place by accident and stopped in for lunch. It was wonderful. We didn't really feel like a sandwich so we just split a few appetizers and had a salad. The lobster ravioli was fabulous. Lots of lobster and the sauce wasn't too aggressive. And some nice chunks of lobster on top! The chicken wings were some of the best we've ever had. I love the fact that they give you a whole wing, all three pieces. Meat was tender and the sauce gave it some zip. And we also had a stomping grounds salad. Yummy! Lots of interesting things in it. Great spot for a nice lunch. We will definitely be going back. read more

Truly a hidden is Stomping Grounds Grill in Buzzards Bay. My better half had been pestering me to go and because I'm so fussy and thought it was a sandwich place, I kept stalling. So often we are disappointed when we go out to eat. Boy, was I surprised! As an appetizer we split the little neck clams. For the main course I had the pasta with lobster and shrimp. He had the Mediterranean seafood stew. All 3 dishes were incredible! From our server to Chef owners Helene and Charles, everything was 5 stars. read more

Four of our group showed up just prior to the opening (12 pm) on a Saturday just before the week of the 4th of July. The chef, Helene, offered to let us come inside to get out of the heat to wait for the rest of our party ( 4 adults and 3 children). She then offered to get us drinks and appetizers while we waited and seated us in a large back room where she had set up a large table to accommodate us. She could not have been nicer! When the rest of our group arrived, we ordered and had a most delicious lunch. We did not leave until 3!! I highly recommend this restaurant for the food snd welcoming ambiance. read more
