1/2 Rack Pork Ribs, Mac & Cheese, Cornbread
    Kevin R.

We stopped at this place on our way home to Virginia Beach. This place sits right off of Highway US 13. The parking lot was easily accessible and there was plenty of parking. This place takes the order when you walk in, then you seat yourself until your food is brought you. There was about a 5 minute wait before we placed our order, and another 10 before we received our food. You will notice at first glance that this place is in dire need of a makeover. However, don't let that sway you from dining here because, the food was pretty darn good. I ordered 1/2 rack of ribs, Potato Salad, Mac & Cheese, and Cornbread. The ribs were tender, tasty and not drowning in BBQ sauce ...LUV IT!!!!...The Mac & Cheese was good, but needed to be warmed up. They use real cheddar, which is what I prefer, and not a Velveeta creamy type cheese like most establishments. The potato salad was decent, and the Cornbread was sweet, fluffy, & hot. The only issue that I had with this meal was the temp of the Mac & Cheese when it was served to me. It could've been a lil warmer. The other issue was that they did not have any Chicken or Fish menu items . However, we did visit on a holiday weekend 1 hour before they were closing: The wait staff here was great..I could not give this place 5 stars due to the need for renovations in the establishment and the temp of my Mac & Cheese. But this is a place worthy of visiting, just don't have too high expectations..

    Kids tenders (minus one)

cool place that's been around a long time. In a gas station but TASTY. We ordered at the counter and they brought food. Kids menu is a HUGE plus. Lots of seafood- fried or steamed. HUGE fish portion. The sides- the minus to them is they all sound good, so it's too hard to decide! Good for kids, adults, people passing through. Some seating and there were larger tables for groups. Some salad for your vegetarian friends but it's a seafood joint!

Found this place while camping at Kiptopeke state park which is just down the street from here. It's part of a gas station but don't let that fool ya. If you're craving fried seafood , this place slaps. The staff inside were incredibly nice given how busy they were. People tend to come here in big groups. We ended up getting a couple of king platters so we could try a bit of everything. The fried fish was fantastic and our group finished it all pretty quickly. The waitress made sure we were taken care of. I will say that this isn't fast food. Expect to wait a bit because everything is made to order fresh. We were so hungry and devoured everything before I could remember to take a pic. I'll have to remember for next time cuz we'll definitely hit this place up again next time we camp here.

Okay, so a cafe attached to a gas station can be really good! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We had 4 people and arrived around 8 am. An egg sandwich, eggs over medium with cheese grits and corned beef hash and two of the eggs with sausage. Everything was tasty. It was funny that when we arrived, there were two Virginia State Police and by the time we left there were three. I thought it was interesting that they had so much time just to hang out. Anyway, good food, nice staff and good coffee. I'd eat here again for sure.

The breakfast was like how a mother cooks to feed a family. The flavor and portions were great. Everyone was friendly and I liked how it was set up to where you can sit down and eat at your own pace.

Sting-Ray's hit the spot in an area without a lot of options. It won't let you down nor will it blow you out of the water. 'A-Ok' is the perfect shortened review. Sting-Ray's is more than just a restaurant. It is a bit of everything similar to the Cracker Barrel chain. You'll see a souvenir shop and gas station out front. One you get to the restaurant, you'll be greeted by friendly staff and have plenty of options to select. If you can't decide, they have the choose two (three or four). These combos come with two sides and are priced reasonable. I split the choose 4, trying the fried oysters, catfish, crab cake, and clam strips. I wasn't impressed with the oysters or the catfish, but very happy with the clam and crab. We tried slaw and hush puppies for our sides. The meal fed two easily. I wouldn't make multiple trips in a single stay, however, I would go back should I take another trip down to the area.

We popped in for a casual beer break, and it quickly turned into one of the highlights of the day. The space itself is gorgeous! It's open, airy and designed with a laid-back coastal vibe that fits Cape Charles perfectly. You order both beer and food inside at the counter, which keeps things easy and low- key. I went with the Pilsner, and it was exactly what I wanted, perfect after a day out exploring. Their beer list has something for everyone, whether you're into lighter options or something with a bit more depth. We didn't order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked incredible. They've got plenty of options like burgers, nachos, and other brewery favorites that definitely seemed worth trying next time. What really stood out was the atmosphere. There was so much going on in the best way. They had a dog adoption event happening outside while we were there, which added such a fun, community-driven vibe. They also host live music and other events regularly, so it feels like there's always something to check out. The outdoor space is huge and perfect if you're with a group or bringing kids. There's a fire pit, games like cornhole, and plenty of room to spread out and hang for a while. Definitely the kind of place you plan to stop at for one drink and end up staying much longer. I will be adding this to my must visit list anytime I'm on the Eastern Shore.

So, a burger costs $18 and comes with fries…read more A side of Fries alone is $7. A side of onion rings is $8. However, if you want to substitute onion rings instead of fries it will cost you $8 extra, making it a $26 meal. So really you're just buying a side of onion rings and also not getting the fries. This is not a substitution. This is buying more and getting less. Please tell me how this makes any sense!?!? I gave quite a bit of push back along with some real life number crunching... but the employee could not seem to understand the lack of logic that, based on their menu prices, an onion ring substitution should be more like $1, and not $8. This is adding 45% to the cost of the meal which is absurd. This is not a surcharge, it's just buying onion rings and also not getting the fires that come with the meal. I wasn't going to pay $26 for a burger, so got the fries which were actually amazing, but not what I wanted... and the burger just was okay... but I can't seem to get over their lack of understanding that this makes no sense. Just write no substitutions if you don't want to bother catering to your customers! I was a tourist heading home from a mini vacation and REALLY craving onion rings, this venue made me super grumpy for no good reason except stubbornness and lack of math skills and reasoning and customer service. Not impressed.

This is not a place you would walk in off the beach to. The owner has her hands in everything from creating the weekly menu to waiting tables herself. She is a lovely woman, very direct but also very excited to share her process and her culture. The plates are small, but pack a punch. My husband and I shared a starter, two first course dishes, a single second course dish, and two desserts. We were satisfied, but certainly could have ate more because the food was amazing! My favorite was the burrata appetizer. The combination of flavors in this was unreal. Balsamic with some sort of pesto tasting tomato sauce and local sun dried tomatoes? I don't even know but I'll remember it forever. The creamy risotto we ordered combined flavors of leeks, fennel, and an amazing sausage that was hidden in there somewhere. My husband commented that the scallops we had in our second course were the best of his life, absolutely perfectly seared and the owner kindly told us how she did them. The arugula was huge and definitely local as I've never seen arugula like this in the grocery store. It was topped with a blueberry vinaigrette the owner made that was out of this world. The food brought us back to our time in Italy and we spent dinner talking about that trip. It really brought us back! Don't miss this charming little place while you're in town if you can swing it.

I have never had coffee flavor before, and that is unique. They also had chocolate chip, cranberry orange, lemon, and original. Those are the flavors I remember. I will definitely be purchasing more flavors in the future. Pair it with a delicious coffee or tea and your set. They offer other baked items and offer a few sandwiches.
