The food was excellent! This is the third time I've been here in two months. Service was excellent and restaurant is very clean. The Baria tacos are excellent 3 stuffed tacos with Baria sauce and choice of rice or beans and I ordered both. My wife has been twice and both times she had shrimp and beans with a delicious cheese sauce. Desserts so far I have had the churro and the fried ice cream is amazing and almost enough for a meal lol. Gets really busy at dinner time. If you have to wait it's well worth the wait. We came here on a Wednesday night with a rowdy group of 15 people. We had a lot of special dietary needs and they were so accommodating - began, vegetarian, no onions or garlic, pescatarian - everyone got something delicious. I had the shrimp tacos and OMG so good! This place must be popular with the locals but it does not have a lot going for it. Nearly every table was filled on a Monday night and we had to wait for one to open before we could be seated. They have standard Mexican fare; there was nothing unique on the menu to distinguish this restaurant as a "good find," although the entrée prices are a dollar or two more than I am used to paying elsewhere in Virginia. The "grilled tacos" were amply filled with meat and salsa, making them a bit difficult to handle, but the menu said that they were served with rice and beans, but I was offered a choice of rice or beans or salad. I opted for the "salad" and found it to be merely a small plate of shredded iceberg lettuce with some diced tomatoes and a dollop of sour cream. The carnitas did not have all the fat rendered off the meat as I am used to experiencing. Soft drinks come with only one refill. I will pass this place by next time. read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere. We make a point of stopping here when we travel south. The food, service, and atmosphere are amazing. You will not leave hungry and you will not have leftovers. Everyone is super friendly. Nice and quiet place where you can have a conversation. Only thing wrong with it is that it's 270 miles from home. But I suppose if closer I would be 50 lbs heavier. read more

Was not a fan of this mexican restaurant. First off, our waitress was very friendly and pretty attentive. I really appreciate good service. Hence, the main reason why this is a 2-star review. The food, however, I did not enjoy that much. The jalapeno poppers were not cooked/heated all the way, and more than half were cold in the center.. My Don Valerio steak needed more flavor -- the grilled vegetables that come on top of the steak had more flavor than the meat... Lots of hot sauce was needed. My wife was not a fan of her bland steak fajitas. Again, she needed hot sauce for more flavor, as well. The prices were reasonable/expected, but I also expected the food to be better. Only 2 people working. Took forever to get our food and drinks. When we tried to flag one of them down for something we needed, we were often ignored and when noticed, they had an attitude. When we finally ordered, the man said we ordered too much food for the 4 of us. Like who says that? You're making money off of it. I had the vegetarian fajitas, which can be made vegan if you ask them to leave out cheese, etc. My one qualm with these is that you get a TON of delicious grilled veggies, and a pretty small plate of Mexican rice and beans. If I went again, I would probably split this with someone, and have us each order a separate side of rice and beans. Also, the rice and beans are both free of meat/chicken stock and lard. Says so right on the menu (thanks Don!). The atmosphere is very simple and local. After going to some of the new places in Cape Charles that were trending a bit fancier, this was a little more comfortable. Suggestion: Would love a vegan option for enchiladas or tacos. Great little spot! We were hungry as we were driving up 13 and decided to stop. Glad that we did. Meant to take photos of the food before we ate but just dug in too quickly. Simple solid Mexican food and Jarritos always a plus for me! The waitress greeted us right away and brought us chips and salsa, which were a perfect start. Great lunch combos. Could use a little more flavor, but was happy that my mouth wasn't on fire. Some of us wanted single tacos but they weren't on the menu without sides. They gladly gave just tacos. Wow! Our checkout gal at Food Lion said this place is amazing!! I'm going back to Food Lion tomorrow to thank her and get her name! This was seriously an amazing meal. Our server was sweet and knowledgeable about the menu and brought my son a sample of the nacho cheese that was to come with his meal - which he was totally sold on! She was super efficient and speedy throughout. The California steak burrito was out of this world-steak was so tender. Huge portion of deliciousness.
