Everyone is friendly and I have no complaints with the staff. My biggest disappointment has been in the making and delivery of my eyeglasses. The first pair came in with the lenses NOT MADE CORRECTLY. After going through a second visit and thorough recheck, it has taken too long to get my eyeglasses delivered. I was warned it may take some time...since they had been pushing a sales event..however, MINE PROBLEM WAS THEIR SCREW UP. I think I will go back to WAL-MART for future pairs of eyeglasses. read more

It's been 23 days since my appointment, and I still haven't received my eyeglasses. Today, I was told the frames I chose are out of stock--information that should've been shared much sooner. After using my $1,000 insurance benefits and paying extra, this delay and lack of communication is unacceptable. read more

I am visiting my brother in la Plata, MD from Phoenix, I accidentally stepped on my glasses and one lens popped out. I was unable to correct it so I called Sterling spoke to a very lovely sounding woman explained and she said they would try. I went down and although there were several clients, all being carried for. The manager came out and quickly cared for me, with no fuss. I asked how much I owe, she said nothing. I took out $20. which she refused. A clean store with pleasant staff interacting with clients. read more

I can't express how much I love visiting this location. I like their window decor and the shop is always extremely clean. They always decorate for whatever holiday is coming up. They make me feel very comfortable and the staff is quite knowledgeable. They make me feel more like family than a customer because they take the time to explain everything to you about your prescription. I highly recommend this location! read more

I was a big fan of Sterling Optical - I loved Dr. Reed, and I was excited to give Dr. Apple a chance, after Dr. Reed retired. Unfortunately, my first visit w/ Dr. Apple was my last. I made an appointment for a wellness-only eye exam - meaning, I did not want a prescription for glasses or contacts; I only wanted to have my eyes checked to make sure they were healthy. I do wear both contacts and glasses though, and I did happen to be wearing contacts that day. However, I had plenty of contacts and plenty of pairs of glasses, which is why I wanted a health check only. When I arrived, the saleslady and I were talking, and I re-emphasized to her that I was only getting a wellness check and I was not interested in getting a contact or eye-glasses exam. She said OK, put some notes in my file, and put the file inside the file holder on the wall outside of the exam room. Dr. Apple gave me an exam, and she had asked me to take out my contacts. I assumed it was so she could examine my eyes properly. I have the disposable, one-time-use ones, so I just tossed them in the trash. Afterwards, she gave me some sample ones, presumably to replace the pair I had to toss. Well apparently that makes it a "contact" exam, so when I came out, I was asked to pay, I think like $110, which was I think $60 or so more than I was expecting to pay. I was confused because I specifically had said I did NOT want a contact exam. The saleslady and I argued back and forth, and I ended up paying, but I told her they were wrong. I take some responsibility in that I guess I should have told the doctor as well, but I thought since I had already mentioned it twice, that was enough. In my opinion, it should not be the customer's responsibility to try to determine when a 'health check' ends and a 'contact exam' begins. If I go to a restaurant and order a $10 steak, and I am accidentally served a $20 steak, I should not have to pay the difference. Dr. Apple was very polite & engaging during the exam (which is why I added 2 stars), but she did not intervene in the disagreement I had with the staff, which led me to believe that she valued getting the money for that particular visit over keeping a long-standing customer. I could be wrong, and perhaps Dr. Apple was simply not paying any attention, but at the end of the day, I was unhappy and no one seemed to care about my complaints. I mean, what's the point of asking me what I want (why the appointment was made), if they are gonna do what they want anyway and then not admit at least some fault in the situation. The saleslady had a terrible attitude to top it off, so I switched doctors & won't be returning there. read more

I love this practice and the customer service is superior at this office. I have been seeing Dr. Apple for the past several years. She gives her patients valuable undivided attention and it is always such a pleasure to see her. The owner of the practice, Lisa, is wonderful. Most confusing experience ever. I tried this place because I have had bad experiences with these types of places out here in southern MD so I thought this year I'd try one more place before I go back to the Wilmer Eye Institute @ John's Hopkins which is more expensive an further but now I have no choice. To the doctor leaving an not documenting my full prescription to one rep being clueless on how to make it right then another rep contacts the doctor only to not document what the doctor relayed to her in my chart to them then calling me telling me what I had in my eyes regarding my contact prescription when I knew otherwise. That's beyond ridiculous. read more

This is the best location to get glasses because of their large selection, on staff Ophthalmologist and great prices. I have recently purchased 4 pair of glasses for myself and the family. This location has been remodeled and revamped along with new ownership. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Service was excellent from begging to end. read more

Dr. Reed is the person to see in Waldorf for your eyes. The service here was very good. There was virtually no wait, they seem to be able to keep appointments just fine. The only reason this is a four instead of a five is they have a smaller selection of frames, other than that fact it is a very good place to go for your eye care needs. read more

It was my first visit to this location and was pleasantly impressed with the warm welcome from the staff and the doctor. When I met the doctor, what an informative discussion that took place. Dr. Apple provided excellent customer service and quality feedback. She discussed the progression of my vision and provided different options for contacts and eyeglasses. I have been going to Sterling optical for years, and loved Dr. Reed. Unfortunately Dr. Apple came off to me as rude, and unprofessional. They are already overpriced, I can pay less elsewhere and not have to be uncomfortable in the Doctor's presence. The staff was warm and welcoming. read more

I went to this office because of the limited selection of vision providers that my insurance company provides. I had been going to another optometrist office for the past few years, but they don't take my new insurance, so I had to change. I had been to one of the Waldorf optometrists on the insurance list of providers in the past, and knew I didn't want to go back there. I chose Sterling Optical, and was prepared for disappointment because it's a big company. Dr. Reed is the most patient and understanding optometrist I've ever seen, and I've seen several over the last 20 years, both by myself and with my children. The staff was helpful and professional as well. Yes, there aren't many frames to choose from, but you could easily take your prescription elsewhere if you need to only have glasses made. I highly recommend this office. read more

I came in on time, but was not greeted by anyone, unlike the other patients who came in. So, I had to seek service. Another patient came in after me, who had an appt. for 11:15. Despite the fact that mine was at 11:00, she was taken first. I asked the women at the counter about this, and they only gave an excuse and apologized without giving me any further information. First the optometrist was great but the sales people not so much. I tried on frames and ordered two. The first pair were beautiful. But when I much later acquired the second, they were not the same as the ones I tried on. I don't know why they just did not fit lenses into the actual pair that I tried, but ordered ;another frame that was not the same. When I explained the sales force said oh yes they were. I finally got what must have been management to order another pair but when they came in the sales person just handed them to me where other stores always sit you down to be sure all was okay. Got home, did not look right, checked the size on the order form and the bridge size was much larger so they did not fit well. They gave me such a hard time after their first mistake I chalk it down to bad choice of vendor. There are so many options out here I suggest just go somewhere else. read more

This was me and my son's first visit to Sterling, him for contacts and me for glasses. This was by far the most thorough eye exam I've ever had!!! She didn't rush through the appointment and took her time to explain everything!! I was also very happy that she had my son's contact prescription in stock; in the past we've had to wait 2-3 weeks just for his trial pair so this was a major win for us. I highly recommend Dr. Reed and Sterling Optical. read more
