I am so grateful to have met and worked with the Office Manager, Marzia. After my infant was enjoying painting my glasses with fingerprints I managed to misplace them. About mid day I learned that Sterling Optical has locations with a lab on site to help me retrieve a new pair of glasses. Marzia answered my phone call and upon my arrival to the office she was able to help me handle the situation with a new pair of glasses under an hour. The longest part of the process was finding a pair of glasses that I liked with my indecisiveness she helped me to find an adorable and affordable pair of glasses. I wound up coming here on an emergency basis... the frames for my previous pair of glasses had finally kicked the bucket (they were 4 years old, and due to weight loss over the time would fall off my face frequently), and just two days before I was leaving to go out of town. My lenses were still intact, and they were able to get them fit into a budget frame which weren't far off from my original ones. This was a 5 star experience for sure. As I was waiting for the lenses to be put into the frames, I found out that they take my vision insurance, and considering it had been four years since my last eye exam, I set up an appointment to get my eyes checked here. My appointment experience was very pleasant. I was seen promptly, within 10 minutes of my scheduled time. The exam was very thorough, but at the same time completed quickly and efficiently (my left eye hadn't changed much, but a cornea condition was found in my right eye and it had changed quite a bit) as I was out in an hour and a half, including the time to pick out my new glasses. This is where I'm deducting half a star from the experience. It took me quite a bit of time to try to find the frames I was looking for... they had a very limited and unflattering for me selection of frames from my preferred manufacturer, but after going back and forth a bit I was able to find a really nice pair that fit me wonderfully. Disappointed I'm no longer rocking Ray-Ban, but it is what it is. Another half star deduction is for the turn around time for me to receive my glasses. I understand I have a complicated prescription which takes more time, and it was around the holidays so I figured it might take a while to receive them. I was told it would take 2-3 weeks, yet it took a day short of 4 for them to come in. But when they did, I gave them a proper look and love how everything turned out. Because of the cornea condition I need to go back in 6 months to determine if has progressed to determine if I need surgery done on it, and I will be returning here to get the new exam done. read more

This is an amazing place to go get your eyes cared for. This is my first time having to actually go in and get prescription glasses. I have never been happier with my glasses and the entire process was just wonderful because of the people that work there and the Doctor who took care of my eyes. Those who take care of everybody, checking people out and running insurance and trying to get everybody in line to see the doctor or whatever it is, these people are the real heroes in that place. I just wanted to leave a shining review to all those who work at 12:02 Niagara falls boulevard Tonawanda New York. I bought one pair of Adidas glasses and one pair I got free through my insurance. I am extremely happy with the way they both fit and look and of course I see so much better. You should definitely give this place a try if you need any kind of eyewear or if you have any issues with your eyes. Worse possible place to go to!!!!!!! Came in and requested new glasses because mine broke. Told me my insurance cover a replacement, and that it'll took a week. Called a week after, they told me to call next week. Called on second week, told me they're waiting for the glasses to arrive. I got suspicious so I also called my insurance, insurance said there's so requested or claim sent! Insurance called them for me, and insurance called me back, told me the glasses will be ready. I called Sterling back, they told me to pick it up within three days. After three days I went to Sterling around 4:30, they close at 5pm. The doors were closed, the light was out, and no sign that said they're closing early!! A waste of time and liars!!! read more

Torn on the number of stars I'd give this Sterling... I'll go with 3 but it's really more of a 2.5. It was kind of odd from the moment I walked in. First, the lady working was too up in my business, then she got sidetracked with another customer, and I couldn't get any help. The reason this was so annoying was because they actually lock their racks, so you can't try on frames unless someone unlocks the rack for you. Totally inconvenient. I understand inventory control, and not wanting people to walk out with some hot new Sean John's (ehhhh) but I'm actually a paying customer who needs new glasses and this is annoying AF. There's got to be a better way. They had some unique frames, high end brands. Expensive as well! The staff looked at everyone like they had the intent to leave there with their pockets stuffed. It skeeved me out, and made me want to leave, especially once I had someone unlock one rack for me and handle the frames, like they were Faberge eggs. If you're going to be controlling like that, I don't want your product. Would not return. Oh, also I was called sir, which happens often enough, but it was just odd here. My family and I have been coming here for over 6 years. Well I've had enough. My son needed refills on his contact lenses. I called to set it up, and they had lost his files. AGAIN. They've lost my insurance info multiple times as well. When my eyes were giving me trouble, I went in for a check and the doctor said my eyes were fine and nothing had changed. If they hadn't changed why couldn't I see clearly? I went to a different doctor and was told I really needed bifocals. I showed the doctor my script that was less than 2 weeks old and the new doctor said that couldn't be right. I got my new script and my bifocals and my eyes are great. They don't seem to know what on earth they are doing. I'm looking to move to another doctor. read more

I have gone here for two years in a row now and did not see the same doctor, which is fine. Last year I schedule an apt and waited a good 90 minutes before being called and was in the waiting room with walk-ins that were prioritized. Once I finally got my eye exam I thought the doctor last year did a great job figuring out my proper script. This year I told the eye doctor I was pretty sure my eyes had gotten worse. My eye exam was about 5-10 minutes at most. I was only given 2 options on each eye for better or worse. The reason I go here is bc they carry the contact brand I prefer, but those have been discontinued. They ordered me a trial pair of a similar brand, it's been two weeks and still waiting for the trials to come in. I just went ahead and ordered glasses online. read more

Marzia is absolutely amazing. I had such a horrible experience from another glasses place that screwed me over before I got there. I walked in frantic and she instantly knew what to do. My experience at Sterling Optical didn't go how I expected. Perhaps I am spoiled by the other eyeglass stores I've entered throughout my life, but something about the customer service tells me I'm not and that this place would benefit if they took the helping approach. In the market for new eyeglasses, I contacted my insurance company who proceeded to send me a list of stores in my area that accepted my insurance. Sterling Optical was one listed so I headed there around 5:30 on a Tuesday night. Upon entering a woman behind the counter asked me what she could do for me and I told her I was looking for a new pair of eyeglasses to which she immediately asked me if I had insurance and asked to see my card. After I told her that this place was covered by my insurance she said she'll have to do some research on her own to make sure it was valid. I immediately got the sense that I wasn't welcome in this store. Her tone was condescending and when she asked me if I had ever been to a Sterling Optical before I told her yes but not this particular location. She stared to ramble off other locations in the vicinity and I told her that I had been to one on Long Island. "Long Island!?!?!?" She said. Then uttered, "Well we aren't affiliated with Long Island." Rude. There are numerous Sterling Opticals on Long Island, they aren't only in Western, New York and she made me feel stupid. Now, in my past, each and every time I am looking for eyeglasses, I am assisted by someone who works in the store who looks at my face shape, asks me what style I like and then gathers up 15-20 pairs throughout the store to have me try on. This was not the case here. I was completely on my own and nobody wasn't giving me any feedback or recommendations at all. This was horrible customer service. There were hundreds and hundreds of glasses. Once the woman came back and confirmed what I had already known, that my insurance was accepted here, I handed her my current glasses to show her what I liked and still she stood there like a statue not willing to assist me in finding a pair I might like. This was incredibly frustrating. Needless to say, I didn't find a pair I liked, however I am sure there were countless suitable pairs. I am not a glasses expert, I am usually handed a pair recommended by someone who works at the store and I always end up loving them. The eyewear here is EXPENSIVE. They have designer frames that you find everywhere but the price seemed 25-50% inflated based on other designer pairs I've found at other stores. With a little bit of decent customer service, however, they would have sold me a pair as I am in pretty desperate need. Looks like my business will go elsewhere and they didn't seem to be phased when I walked out the door. read more

I have been wearing glasses for 46 years and have never had the experience I had at Sterling. I was very clear on my expectation for the visual field of my glasses yet was sold a Kodak lens with the promise that it will be just as good. Had glasses on 10 seconds and rejected them. The Manager Jackie tried to tell me that it was because the new frames were larger than my current glasses. Fortunately I knew better and didn't buy in to that. The lenses I should have been sold the first time have been ordered as a "rush" and 10 days later still have not been received. Oh, and don't bother to contact the corporate office....you will get a "boilerplate" response, an apology and understanding of your "disappointment" and the poor customer service is not addressed. Poor experience. Employee was texting and didn't greet me. Was unprofessionally dresses. Which I see from other customer comments is the norm. Acted as if they were doing me a favor to assist. Asked to see my insurance first. I picked out frames but was told I had to come back tomorrow to verify insurance. I got in my car and called another location. The gentleman was so professional I drove across rown. He had the frames I wanted displayed in all colors. He was knowledgable and courteous. I wound up buying multiple pairs from him the same day. The appointment took over two hours to complete. Would have been nice if they called to say they were backed up and offered to switch our appointment time or suggest we come in later. Had to rearrange the entire evening for an appointment that should have taken well less than an hour from start to finish. Never go here. I had an apt at 10, but waited an hour and a half for the family of 6 to go ahead of me (WALK INS - they didn't even have an apt and they were still seen ahead of me). There was only 1 dr on duty and each apt took 30 min....mine was a recheck and would've taken 15 min. I left because I couldn't sit there any longer and waste my time. Besides the waiting room is tiny and one of the guys REEKED of cigarette smoke and the other guy was non stop burping really loud....disgusting. Don't waste your time or money....Buffalo Optical Store is wayyyyy better! read more
