Avoid Stephens. this is not the same dealership that it used to be. I bought 2 cars from this place about 4-5 years ago with pleasant experiences. All that has changed. I brought one of our cars in to get fixed, there was some rattle sounds coming from the engine. After being serviced i was told it was a fuel pump issue and was resolved to the tune of $1000. i asked if it could pass emissions because we were looking for to trade in for another vehicle and said it was fine, don't worry about it. it just has to fun its cycle. all a bunch of BS. Less than one week later the engine completely dies on our way home from Rhode Island. i have it towed all the way from Mystic back to the dealership. I ask if they're going to fix what happened considering our vehicle now is no longer driveable thanks to they're 'fixing" it. i'm given the song and dance that they were not responsible for the engine failure and now it's going to cost me at least $2300 more to replace the engine. Figuring that they've been good to me in the past i ask to trade the car in for a Denali they had on the lot. it was way over priced at 18k - i saw many similar makes and models for at least 4k less than that on line. our car was going to be worth around 6k for trade in but now that they screwed up our engine its not worth that but i know once they repaired it could be worth a few grand so i ask for them to meet me in the middle, cut the price down on the Denali and give me 3k for the car just to be fair. They wouldn't budge an inch. after talking to manager after manager i'm told to speak to Victor, the head of service. Apparently he was supposed to be a "good guy" to talk to. in fact he was the complete opposite. He completely uncooperative and insensitive to our situation. After a frustrating 20 minute argument with him all i finally asked was for the dealership to at least give me the $1000 that we wasted giving them for "fixing" our now worthless car. I said that they could keep the car and so whatever they wanted for it. It was obviously naive for me to think, that between the 2 cars i bought from them and all the money we put into that place for servicing when i could have taken my business elsewhere, to the tune of what i estimate approx 30k in total.....considering the loyalty i've shown them over the years and still the willingness to work with them again, there should be some loyalty shown back to me and i got SQUAT from them. 10 minutes after i leave Victor calls me back and tells me that MAYBE he can find someone who will give him $800 for it but that was it. I told him that i'm considering a lawyer for what happened to the car and he says that the conversation is over. I hung up on him. He calls me back AGAIN a minute later and tries Strong arming me by saying he'll give me $1000 for the car but i have to buy a vehicle from their lot. I said why not just give me the grand and call it a day and AGAIN refuses to budge I laughed and said to him that i don't take well to bullying tactics and am now even more highly considering calling a lawyer. I told him off right then and there. Called him out on the strong arming BS move. At the end of it all this was quite possibly one of the worst experiences i ever had with a car dealership. There is no customer loyalty whatsoever here any longer. They are out to make as much $$ as they can. They screwed up our car and they know it and didn't even have the decency to at least try to work with us in the slightest. STAY AWAY. i'd give them a ZERO if yelp would let me read more

I just bought a used vehicle very low mileage on a previously leased vehicle. The body has some dings, scratches and other visual damage that I can live with considering how bad of a condition my current 2000 Nissan Maxima SE is in. I needed a car, had a small down payment, bad credit, no checking account and a part-time janitorial part-job. I tried to get the limit on my Firestone Credit Card raised 3 times in past 3 years. Never missed a payment, constantly @ Firestone for major/minor repairs. Long story short I was exasperated. Unable to register my Maxima with CT DMV unless I spent a large sum of money for catalytic converters to be replaced. So I called Sales Consultant David Mazzola (860) 584-7354 around 5:30 pm. He said if your got $1000 and a job, He would have me driving home in a vehicle of my choice. Dependent upon credit approval. He drove to my home, picked me up and delivered on his promise!!!! Thank you Sir for your immediate and satisfactory service. My bad credit is no reflection upon Mr. Mazzola legitimacy as a Top Rate Sales Consultant. He showed me 3 cars I said I was interested in buying. A Honda Civic, Chevy Pulse, Nissan Altima and for laughs a Fiat (ha,ha,ha). I was not at all pressured, not once to make a decision. They all did their jobs very well. I was informed of extended warranty programs, provided Carfax, not pressured at all. When I got in the car I promised myself I was not signing anything or parting with my $1000.00.....who goes to the candy store just to look. I went in on faith, knowing full well that the lending rate would be usury but thats no fault of the dealership. I had a need and they were able to meet all my needs in purchasing a vehicle. We completed the deal by 9:30pm I did not get the unicorn dream deal I hoped for, but I got a very nice, low mileage (21,500) - Silver 2012 Nissan Altima and I love it thus far. Mind you I haven't had the car long enough to determine if this was a good deal or a lemon. Only time will tell. But considering I was caught between a rock and a hard place, bad credit, no active bank account, delinquent over-drawn credits cards, etc.....you get the picture. I was lucky they even allowed me in the show room. I live below the federal poverty level, but was treated like a "Superstar". These guys are movers and shakers. I wanted to wait a little while to give a full review about my experience at Stephen Cadillac GMC. I bought a new GMC Terrain from Mike Collins at Stephen Cadillac GMC in March of 2015. The car was a dealer car that came with all of the factory warranties, bells and whistles. My fiancé and I went to look at a few terrains that were on the lot. Mike met with us to start us out in a 2013 used terrain. Mike was very friendly, not pushy and very cordial. We went for the test drive and he struck up a good conversation, and made us feel very comfortable with the test drive. When we returned, we also tried out a newer terrain with less miles. We were very interested in the newer model, but the price was a bit higher then we wanted to spend. Mike and the folks at Stephen Cadillac GMC worked very hard and were very receptive to offering us the best deal we could get. Being this was a dealer car, we were able to use our "Current GM ownership" which took a great deal of money right off the top. Mike the worked with is further to tailor the price and finance details to a place were we comfortable. Financing was easy and fast, paperwork was straight forward and there was no back and forth with Mike or any "manager" about deals. Their prices were the lowest around on the Terrain and they made it more affordable when we got there. We were able to drive away in the car that same day. We get two years free maintenance and the two times I have been there thus far, it has been quick, easy and helpful. Additional parts inquiries have also been easy. Overall I am very pleased with my experience with Stephen Cadillac GMC and look forward to business with them and Mike Collins in the future. Mike has also called me personally on numerous occasions to ask how we like the car and engages in a personal conversation with me that makes me feel comfortable about the business I have done there and the business I plan to do there in the future. read more

I went in to look at a new car on Monday 2/25/19. I had done my research before hand and knew what I wanted to buy. I went to Stephen AutoMall only because it was close to my home. I walked in and was greeted by Matt and told him the vehicle I would like to look at. Matt pulled up in the wrong car and when I told him I would like to see the 2019 his response was that it was "buried" and seemed upset that he would have to move other cars to bring the correct one for me to see. I took a look at the car and said I loved it, but wanted to run next-door to see a Toyota. In the meantime I asked if he would be able to take a look at my car for a trade in value. I handed him my keys and walked next door. We returned no less the 10 minutes later and I was told they were too busy to look at my car! Ok!! So lets now test drive this one! We returned from the test drive and I stated I WANTED TO BUY THIS CAR! How much?? Good Question when buying a car. The response was avoided and I was given every answer except the price. He was to call me that day to go over questions that would help with rebates, and... no call was received. Today, two days later I called to see if I can get an answer on price. To my surprise, it is 5,000 more then listed online! It took me prying to get the answer. When I asked to speak to his manager I was put on with Brian Fisher, another condescending sales person who told me he was there that day and I was too busy to buy the car. Amazing. You have someone with the money to buy a car that pays your commission, and you get two people who would rather talk down to you then actually sell you a car. The manager, Brian Fisher, was VERY happy to send me to his boss. I assume because he will treat a customer the same as his employees do. My rating of these sales people and this facility it to avoid it at all cost. They blame GMC for their behavior and will run you around as they did me. read more

Back in December 2014 the car kept having handling problems from the rear axle that Stephen AutoMall centre installed, it was discovered by another dealership that the rear axle was ready to fall out. Stephens AutoMall Centre did not address our concerns about this safety concern stated to them. Instead they wanted us to sign a release including the rear axle work, but not including payment for it, nor addressing to look at it. Yes, it was still under the warranty service contract. Although, this may not be the icing on this bad cake. My husband and I sat down with the intake person, and we were told the rear axle would be tested by an alignment to determine if it needed to be replaced. We signed a direction to pay, and then we received bad work, broken parts , improper installation of coil springs, dangerous installation of the rear axle and bolts ready to fall out, and everything contrary than what we agreed on just prior to signing the form. We found out later that no test was done at all on the rear axle to indicate if it needed replacement. My husband questioned Intake person in front of the shop supervisor as to why the procedure wasn't done as he stated to us, and he said he determined by eye it was off. We contacted General Motors, they said By eye, is not a testing procedure and they would like to know more. Stay tuned for the results of what the test reveals. What GM's conclusions are. How customers of over 12 years deal with this type of treatment and bad negligent work, and what actions we are going to take should this rear axle come back showing a replacement was not warranted. read more

I selected Stephen AutoMall because of their location and they have valet service. The employees work as a great team to assist their customers. After parking in front of the Toyota showroom, one of the Toyota employees referred us to Glen Nelson because we wanted to look at a GM auto and Glen was most experienced working with GM employee discounts. Glen knew to ask all the right questions to determine the best vehicle for us so we could take advantage of the GM Employee discount program. He took us for a test ride and let us drive to our home to confirm that it would fit nicely into our garage. We purchased our GMC Terrain the same day and were able to take it home the same day as well. Glen did an excellent job explaining a lot of the features and Bryan Bernardo finalized setting us up with our insurance agent and setting up accounts with OnStar and Sirius. Before we left with our vehicle Bryan also went over the operation of the vehicle and reviewed OnStar and Sirius which was all new to us. I would definitely recommend Glen Nelson to anyone interested in buying a vehicle as well as Bryan Bernardo his part in the sale. The GMC Terrain is a pleasure to drive and all the extra features such as OnStar driving directions and hands free calling subscription through OnStar. Since I don't have a smart phone this is great! I've already subscribed to both OnStar and Sirius beyond the trial period. Our family likes that the back passenger seat has plenty of leg room for adults and entry in and out of the back seat is very easy. read more

I have to start this review with the fact that I hate the whole car buying experience. Went into the millennial part of Stevens auto Mall was there just left the bank took $1151 out of my account the guy swooped up my money I noticed it's instead of a $500 deposit he took a 600 he wrote the receipt 500 he was picking up the money I told him to wait a minute something is not right he said he was gonna bring it back to the accountant which and that he was not supposed to touch him and he knew this was gonna be a problem five days ago sent me to pick it up I get all the way out there nope we mailed it they never mailed it I would've got it by now its been five days no scammers and the salesman is a thief don't deal with it Jeff baron And to try and resolve this the whole system up there is rude they all said he should've never touch the money but they never check the cameras to see if he put the money in his pocket so now I'm out of money and now I have to get my attorney involved because they don't wanna pay me back my $600 Bad company bad morals bad customer service when I got home that night he called me within an hour because he knew that I knew he stole the money he goes we can't help you go figure that an hour read more

My husband and I were looking to upgrade to a newer Cadillac, and James Chiodo was there to help us every step of the way (without any pressure that you get from other dealerships) After finding the 2015 Cadillac that we were interested in, Harry was there to move the financial piece along with his expertise and nice personality, always so helpful. When we picked up the car Frank Martorana was extremely helpful with his knowledge of all the bells and whistles my newer car had and spent a lot of time going over each feature. A nice tutorial for me as the newer Cadillac's have so many new things to learn and to ENJOY !! One small issue we had was taken care of the next morning by Tom Bernier in service, having a technician look at a console sliding cover. (a quick fix) I would definitely recommend anyone looking to purchase a car to look up James Chiodo, a fine young man that you can trust and find easy to work with. This is my second ( And not last) lease at Stephen AutoMall Centre and each time they exceeded my expectations. With the help of Andrew Hall, Ron Delieto and Barbara Armour, I received a truly decent deal on the vehicle that Andrew felt would fit my needs. Barbara Armour even went out of her way to go online and cancel my old plates. Saved me some work and I truly appreciated it. Went to Stephen Automall in Bristol, Ct and received a professional buying experience meeting with Mike Collins the sales professional. He really knew his stuff. Thank goodness it was a great experience at Stephen Cadillac because the previous dealership I visited wasted 2 1/2 hours of my time and never to date never bothered to follow up by phone or text about the Cadillac XT5 I was interested in. Mike at Stephen Cadillac was the opposite and followed up by text and phone quickly at least 6 times answering all my questions. The delivery process went smoothly and on time. The car was in the showroom when I arrived and created a caring atmosphere for delivery as well as a delivery coordinator to go over all the functions on the Cadillac. Bought a $65,000 Toyota Sequoia and the service department is horrible. During a tire rotation they use their tools to put the lug nuts with lock on so tight that you have to call them to take them off and they want to charge me for the new lug nuts at 15 dollars each. They are the ones that put them on so tight that nobody can take them off. Now the lock key is ruined. I said I would prefer regular lug nuts instead of the locks and they want to charge me for them. I wouldn't need any lug nuts or new lug nut keys or locks if they put them on correctly. I will never buy another car there again due to their service department. This is my second bad experience with their service department. The first time I had to fight them on a warranty issue for the navigation screen. Horrible experience read more

He took the time to understand our needs and helped us find the right car for us. Every step of the way he was there to help us and advise us. Instead of being a salesman and just trying to make the best sale for himself he tried to find us the perfect car. And he succeeded! We are extremely happy with our 2015 Sienna and helped us get the best options and was exceptionally helpful negotiating the price. Buying a new car at Stephen's was an experience unlike other past purchases. Our salesman Boris Lukic was great. His genuine concern and his honest approach is the reason we will use him again. I love my new Corolla Le! I'm thrilled with the new in-car technology. The best part is the backup camera. I was a little apprehensive about going from a station wagon to a sedan. With a backup camera I no longer worry about not being able to judge the distance of the back end. The easy to use voice activated system allows me to access text messages and hands free phone calls. Rob is a great salesman. He asked me what I was looking for and my budget. He showed me a couple cars that I might be interested and let me test drive. Other dealerships wouldn't even let me look at any cars without a loan approval. Rob also didnt pressure me into any vehicles I wasn't interested in and that were out of budget.Most dealerships pressure you and make you spend more than you want to. I love my 2012 Cruze! Their finance department is also great at what they do. They have plenty of banks to go through for approval. I would highly recommend going to Stephen Auto Mall for your next vehicle purchase.
