Wow, what a company they expect you to make your car payment but yet they can't make theirs. What a joke plus when I used to go there for service they really didn't seem professional at all seem more like C minus or D class well I just wanted to say bye-bye. UTTER WASTE OF TIME After calling to let them know that I was on my way, I test drove the vehicle that I was looking to purchase only to be told at the end of the test drive that a deposit has been made by another customer. You figured while I was traveling within that hour and hlf to the dealership that they would tell me this. No consideration and no courtesy to tell me on the way that a deposit has been made on the vehicle. I should have listened to the previous comments MADE about this dealership and yes, I will add and say to avoid this dealership like the plague. pathetic. read more

I've bought multiple cars from Stephen Toyota and I've always been treated right. I recently purchased a 26 Rav4 Limited with Jason as my salesman( third time!). He was friendly, attentive and efficient. He listened to my needs and set me up in the vehicle that was meant for me. During delivery he explained all the features and made sure everything was set up properly. I appreciate his attention to detail. I would highly recommend the Stephen Toyota sales/ finance group! DIRTY DEALERSHIP!!! Do NOT give your money or business to Stephen Toyota. '25 Toyota Tacoma SR5 purchased on 09/02/2025. I literally don't even know where to begin in reporting how truly horrible Stephen Toyota is in all ways. I suppose sales, because that was my first contact with the staff there. Upon my arrival, the obvious bait'n'switch was implemented between the listed online price and what they actually ended-up charging me. Offered a low-ball offer for the truck I was trading-in ($2,500), then they simply jacked-up the overall price to a figure EVEN HIGHER than the original listed! Crooks. Jason Rivera was my salesman, and he came out with numbers $3,500 higher than what was listed online. I reminded him about the online listed price, and the seemed "surprised." He then ran some fast numbers by me, and returned, only for me to have to still pay the additional $3,500 more than the listed price. This particular Tacoma SR5 was the exact package/options/color I wanted, though, so I decided to go forward with the deal despite being blatantly mislead and lied to. Next up would be service. My SR5 was BRAND NEW, however; after only one (1) month of driving it, the dashboard lit-up like a Christmas Tree, and all kinds of alarms and alerts were activated. I returned to Stephen Toyota with only 2,000 miles on my truck, but was told I needed to make an appointment, or no help could be offered. Same problems persisted, though, so I went back to Stephen and met with service advisor Austin Brenneman. Brenneman was completely uninterested in my problem, hesitated on giving me his name, and told me that he "thought" the truck was still safe to drive despite the alarms/alerts. Brenneman said that I should drive the truck despite the safety warnings, unless the check engine light came on in red color, and began to blink. Made an appointment this time as I was again told nothing could be done for me without one. Brenneman was not only rude, but was also totally dismissive of my problems/issues. He even appeared angry at my presence, as he was clearly busy surfing/scrolling on his personal smartphone, and I seemed to be cutting into his screen time-with my "unimportant" problem. I returned to the dealership on the appointment date and my truck was there for a day or two. I was told the problem was a faulty gas cap, which I (accurately) doubted. Three (3) days later, after the "repair" had been made, all of the lights/alarms/alerts returned. I called Stephen and was told to bring the truck in the next day. Upon my return, I was flippantly told by service staff that "I was now a frequent flyer, huh?" Service proceeded to keep my truck for two (2) weeks, without any updates, and I finally had to call them myself. I was then told an new gas tank was needed/being installed. I made a total of seven (7) trips to Stephen Toyota to rectify the problem with may brand new, $30,000.00 down, Tacoma, however; no solutions, diagnosis, or effective repairs were ever offered or made. Final meeting ended with Manager "Rocco" offering me a different truck for an additional $10,500.00!! Unbelievable. During this last trip, "Rocco" came out as described above and attempted to aggressively get me to again pay the dealership/company the additional $10,500 in order to have the problem fixed, and/or take delivery of a new/different truck. I explained my situation to "Rocco," and the told me that the car business "is funny," and that his dealership/company wasn't responsible for my Tacoma anymore, as the sale was final and had already been transacted. He then encouraged me to retain counsel/hire an attorney in the matter. PURE EXTORTION! "Rocco" also commented that if I did go ahead with his new offer, I would also have to "eat" (incur) the depreciation of the truck I was trying to have repaired. I wish I could give these guys zero stars. I went to them three years ago for my first ever lease. I got a 2019 Toyota Highlander Limited and felt the price was fair and consistent with what the lease calculator on the Toyota website showed me. Three years later when that lease was up and I was in the market for a new Highlander, I was met with an extremely transparent lie about a car that was sold and returned and "rare." The sleazy tactics didn't end there. They tried to put me in a four year lease and, first of all, who does that? Everyone knows a three years lease is best for the customer and the dealer because it's the time frame where resale value is at a max. Anyway, they wanted $5k down and $879/month x 48 months for a Highlander! That is outrageous. When I inquired about buying instead, they wanted $15k down and $897/month x 72 months. That is $80k for a car whose MSRP is $44k. They fed me vague answers about "conditions were ideal when I got my last lease" and rates have gone up and "dealers" are charging way above MSRP. What they never outright admitted to was that "dealers" wasn't "other dealers." It was them too. They NEVER -- NOT ONCE -- showed me the price they were charging. They always broke things down in terms of down payment and monthly payment -- which is ridiculous because they hadn't run a credit check. How could they know what sort of financing I would qualify for? The bottom line is they are jacking up their prices somewhere around 40% because they can, they never tell you how much they're actually asking, and they vaguely blame it on scarcity and inflation. I went immediately to a competing Toyota dealership and they leased me the exact same car for $300 less per month, which is only a few dollars more than I paid for the previous lease. Chris deluca the director of finance is direct but honest. they both listen. I never had to tell them what I wanted more than once. i can't speak for everyone there but can say Jason and Chris exhibited honesty and integrity. for someone that has anxiety they made me feel very comfortable and never pushed me into anything I didn't want to do. I've been in business with Stephen Toyota for several years now. I'm so very satisfied with their services. When I traded in my old Toyota the process was smooth, quick and painless. I've been so happy with any vehicle that came from Stephen Toyota. As a side note, Toyota vehicles are durable, reliable and long lasting. I always bring my car in when it's due for services, and I always get a great report back. The wait is very pleasant, they just got these incredible massage chairs, that I come out of as a new person after 20 minutes of intense massage on one. What a nice treat for loyal customers. They also offer a variety of coffee and tea, as well as chilled water while you wait. The people in the sales department as well as the service department are all so patient, pleasant and easy to talk to. Always be sure to make an appointment before you arrive. As far as the sales department, I highly recommend Boris. He's helped me each time drive away with my new Toyota. Car had been driven only 13 miles and still had all of the protective stickers all over it. Lol. Their website does not have an accurate inventory of their cars, it lists that they had about 10 of the type we wanted to see... but they "only had one there". My husband purchased a 2023 Toyota Tacoma. Sales person, Noah Shannon was awesome. He gave us time to drive the vehicle and make a decision without being pushy. We truly appreciated that. Completed the loan application and then was told that no one from financing was available. What? Aren't you selling cars. We were asked to return the next morning to meet with finance. Arrived at the scheduled time and continued to wait (I had to cancel my appointments for the day). We normally deal with Chris in financing, but unfortunately (very unfortunately) he was not available and we met with Bob Winner. Bob Winner gave my husband an interest rate of 7.99% with the finance through Connex Credit Union with a $500 down payment. I looked up Connex Credit Union website and their interest rates were 5.29%. When I asked why my husband wasn't approved for that rate, we were told, those rates are only available if you apply directly with the credit union. I also pulled up the credit union we are already members of and their rate was 5.49% and again was told he could not match that rate. Bob Winner suggested that we make the payments for a few months and then refinance. I asked why in the world would we wait to refinance and he replied well the paperwork isn't even at the credit union yet and it will take a few months! Really? Well, needless to say, the vehicle has been refinanced and I am disgusted with the runaround and the lies from Bob Winner. I have purchased so many cars from Stephens in the last several years, however, treating long time customers like this will make me rethink where I purchase in the future. Bob would have made out better if he stopped trying to be so greedy and did a great deal instead of leaving us to refinance this loan immediately. Jason M. was friendly, had a great sense of humor and was very helpful throughout the vehicle purchase process however just like most sales rep they tell you whatever you want hear to make a sale. Jason talked a good game just like every other salesman who says anything so you buy a car. My daughter bought a car that wasn't detailed and a little dirty. He told her she can get it detailed when she went to return dealer plate. When she asked to confirm detail appointment time Jason said "I don't know I'll let you know". The car I bought has a small dent and scuff. Jason told me that they will fix it. First appointment rescheduled because of the heat now it's a "maybe next Tuesday" but no time given. My daughter and I didn't buy brand new cars but we bought 2 cars that day. Jason shouldn't have told us all these things will get done if it wasn't true because we would've took our business elsewhere. I reached out to Piotr who is the internet sales manager and he's also giving me the run around. I DO NOT recommend Stephen Toyota or Jason M. for any car purchases. Derek Geanuracos was our salesperson and truly provided excellent customer service and care from start to finish. He took the time to understand what we were looking for regarding the type of car and features we were interested in as well as where we wanted to be price-wise, all the while making sure we were comfortable and happy every step of the way. Derek never once made us feel pressured in any way, which is a breath of fresh air when car shopping. Once we decided to move forward with the purchase, Derek quickly and efficiently made sure to have our car completely detailed and registered so we could leave with our car that day and even took the time to thoroughly walk us through all of the car's features before we left even though it was well after his normal working hours. BUYERS BEWARE: THEY ARE trying to gouge us. They want to increase the price of the car due to using my own lender. They tried to jack up the price $5000 over MSRP. "We are trying to pay the electric bills." I love the car but it did not sound right to me. I went to another Toyota dealer and I was able to get it for MSRP which under normal circumstances is too much. I do understand that the market is strange now. I was even able to reduce the doc and delivery fees. DONT pay over MSRP. FYI I purchased 4 vehicles from them in the past. None of them did I pay MSRP or doc fees. read more

Completely garbage, this was hands down the worst experience I've ever had visiting a car dealership. I went with my dad who was looking for a car, and he did everything he could have possibly done to make life easy for the dealer, calling ahead to schedule a time to test drive a specific car, going so far as to double-check that they had it there, and that it was the right color (because they had it listed as the wrong color online, which did not inspire confidence). The call in general raised a lot of flags because the receptionist, Stephanie, didn't seem to be able to answer any questions without "checking with a manager first." So, the next day we end up at the dealership 30 minutes late for our appointment, and that was on us, but when we went up to the desk it took 5 minutes for them to track a dealer down, who then took another 20 minutes to try to find the car in the lot. No one could find the keys, because the car was not there. Apparently it had been moved days ago, and despite this it never came up when we were scheduling our drive. So here we are, having now waited for over 30 minutes just for the dealer to look impatiently down at his sticky note telling him the car had been moved, who then had the balls to tell us it wasn't the receptionist's fault because "she didn't ask me, specifically." I can only hope that other people have a less hilariously incompetent visit to this dealership, because we deserve better. read more

Brought my Prius in here for service and the folks in the service area have been great, from the nice woman I talked to in the phone to the very polite and helpful guy who checked me in and went over all the details. They could have charged me more for the inspection/diagnosis but didn't - that's awesome. Being new to the area it's hard to find a new mechanic that you are just hoping won't screw you over. Hopefully I've now found a good place for my car. Prices for labor are about what you'd expect from a dealership. Only downside to the experience, was with the sales department. I went to sit in there while they finished the work on my car in the service department because there weren't any more seats available. I don' think their sales manager/leader knew I was there because he brought everyone in for a morning pep talk - let's just say it involved lots of cursing and showed that he thinks negativity will inspire his team. Service Dpt. is one huge dissolution from logics !!! However, strong urge to sell costumers nonsense , or BS if you will. These guys are joke !!....damaged the oil filter housing and blame everyone but Santa Claus ! Took my car for oil change 12-20-18. Give them the car before 8am, at 9:30 I was told that the Oil Filter Housing is cracked and it was absolutely done/damaged during previous oil change. In that case it would be year ago when we bought that car in Stamford. New Oil Housing is needed for $180 and it will be there next day. So, I suggested I drive my car home and come back next day. Absolutely NOT said the service rep. You are loosing oil with huge rate and you will blow up the engine....??????.....you just told me that the housing was damaged year ago...I drove for a year, but now I can't drive for next 24h..??? Also, I mentioned that there are NO oil spots in my garage....its mostly loosing oil when you drive the highway..they said. Needless to say....I have contacted Hoffman Lexus service dpt. for second opinion. That oil filter housing...if damaged, you have maybe an hour of driving...they said, it was damaged today. read more

First experience there was for an oil change- that was great. Second experience however , not so good. Went to have my snow tires removed and my all seasons put on. The snows were still pretty new, I just got them that season. They popped my tire on the side wall while taking it off, which after doing my research means that the employee was obviously not paying attention or using the machine properly because this should not have happened. The employee then tried to convince me that my tires were so old and worn down, and that's why it popped. I asked to see the condition of my other tire since I got both of them together that season- yup, still new. They offered a discount on a new tire- I said no, I showed up with two tires and should be leaving with two. I had to call and ask for the manager (I think his name is Jason?) every day for almost a week to even get through because he was always "busy and would call back," and the day finally came where he was for sure going to call, but low and behold he "had an early lunch at 11 and would call later." 3 o'clock rolls around and I call them AGAIN looking for him, and he finally gets on the phone. He said he'll order me a new tire on them and call when it comes in. Great, I'm happy with that. But wait, it's been over a month now and whenever I call to ask where my tire is, they're not available or hours have changed. I've been very nice to them, haven't caused any problems or arguments. I just want my tire. I get this is a rough time, and I'm no mechanic but, come on. You can get a tire in that same day, if not the next. It's a basic size , nothing to be special ordered. This is just ridiculous at this point and I'm very disappointed. It's an easy problem that could have been fixed on day one if the manager took responsibility for the situation. I purchased my car at Stephen's Toyota about two years ago. My car buying experience was typical- haggling, waiting extensive periods of time. Once I settled on a price I was happy with the rest of my experience was great. The warranty guy was helpful and I now get my car serviced there. The staff is fantastic to work with. I recommend getting your vehicle serviced at this dealership. I wouldn't necessarily recommend buying a car there because you have to go in knowing your stuff and what you are looking for, or you will feel like you are being taken advantage of. I am so angry right now that I must vent. I can't believe this dealer had my son drive his 5-day old new Camry Hybrid 50+ miles on a defective tire back to the dealership! As a consumer, I am disgusted that they gave him a hard time about replacing the defective tire and then had him sit at the dealership for 4 hours while they figured out what to do (and it took him threatening to return the car before they agreed to replace the tire)... but as a parent, I am infuriated that they had him drive 50 miles on a highway on that tire! The chance of it blowing out and causing catastrophic damage to himself and others was insanely high (the tire had a freaken bubble out of its side and they knew that). I am appalled that any business could have such a high level of disregard for human life. We went to this dealership out of loyalty for the way my wife was treated when she bought her Highlander and I never would have thought that any dealership, especially this one, was capable of such inexcusable actions. This goes beyond poor service to unethical behavior. If pressing criminal charges against them was an option, I would do so instantly. Best I can do is vent here, warn my connections, and send this story to the BBB. read more

All buyers beware. My girlfriend and I was looking for a new car for her and we wanted to do some window shopping and ask for numbers and numbers only. We went inside Stephens Toyota and asked what are her options and they only gave her one option. Anyway we looked at some paper work and the salesman George tells us that he will get back to us the next day with "numbers". The next day while I was at work, my girlfriend gets a phone call from George to come down and "talk about some numbers". My girlfriend drives in the dealership and realized the car that we were "looking at" has brand new plates and her phone started receiving messages that she registered and insured a brand new car without anybody's consent. This is a sneaky and rare tactic dealerships do. Anyway we went to our original dealer at Torrington Toyota and they hooked up my girlfriend with a better offer then what Stephens Toyota originally tried to pawn on us. He was pleasant and professional, listened to what I wanted, and even bought me crackers when I got hungry. I scheduled a service online two weeks prior to my appointment and listed in the comments exactly what I needed done. I have utilized the GM service dept. and they have been great each time my truck was there. As soon as I arrived in the Toyota service area the first consultant in the row was a blonde woman whose attitude was, let's say, not customer friendly. I ignored it and just wanted my service performed. She then asks me what I'm there for. I inform her that I came in for a software update recall. She instantly says "we don't schedule recalls online, it says it there." I explained that I didn't see that and asked if they could still do it as it's simply a download, no parts. She gets up, screams within 5 ft of me into the bay "I already know the answer, can you guys to a software update". They of course say no as she says the techs are leaving in 30 min. It's 3pm on a Thursday. They close at 6pm. This review isn't so much the fact that they didn't do the service, it's the fact that the consultant was extremely rude and condescending. If this is the first person that people meet when obtaining service then you better reevaluate your staff. A nice tone and a little understanding that maybe I didn't see the note on the website about recalls would have kept me as a customer. I know, my business is a dime a dozen. But I'm sure I can't be the only one. I called another dealer locally and they will now earn my business. Two trucks purchased and eight years of service business and that's it for me. read more

I would give them 100 stars positive if possible. Bought a car here in late 2004. It's still running just fine. Even if it does now, it has given me a solid 14 years of excellence! The mechanics , managers, service reps EVERYONE was FANTASTIC. The complete opposite of Crowley Kia in Forestville. Bought a used Nissan Rogue there. One of my wife's co-worker s suggested it. Everyone was nice. But when I brought it in for an oil change, I got home, hazard light was on. Called back frustrated and upset. Mechanic Brian something said " you probably drove over a screw" Disgusted with his unprofessional sarcasm, I went back angry, he yelled at me in a threatening menacing demeanor. Refused to drive my car into the garage. Made me do it. Service manager, aloof and useless, said " I'll have a talk with him". NEVER EVER have I EVER experienced such disgusting pathetic customer service in my 59 years. Might I add, I am also disabled with a serious cancer like illness and severe PTSD. Did Ken Crowley care? Absolutely not. Never returned my phone call. I never got an apology from the creep that yelled at me. In all my years with Stephens, I was treated like a valued customer. WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE - I recently saw a car online that I was interested in at this dealer and called to see if it was still available. The customer service rep said yes and I scheduled an appointment. I met with the Sales Consultant and was asked the standard buyer questions. When it came time to test drive, the consultant went to get the keys and when he came back, told me that a deposit had been put on the car the day BEFORE and it was schedule to be delivered THAT DAY! Immediately he proceeded to mention other cars available but I told him I called about that car only and couldn't believe neither him nor the customer rep didn't call me back saying it wasn't available before I drove a ways to their dealership. I left immediately. I received a phone call from the sales consultant later that night letting me know that the original buyer had backed out of the deal and the car was still available. I then received a call a couple days later from the customer service rep apologizing for what happened and letting me know that the car was still available. I decided to call back and schedule a test drive later on that day after work. When I arrived, I spoke with another customer rep and she proceeded to inform me that the original buyer went through with the purchase the DAY BEFORE and the car was ALREADY DELIVERED. Are you kidding me? Not once but twice I spoke to the same people and they screwed up that basic information inconveniencing me with a drive all the way back?? I spoke to them literally 3 hours before the scheduled test drive and they didn't have the decency to call me back saying that it wasn't available? How do you "not know" basic activity like this on your inventory? Completely unacceptable and unprofessional! Don't be surprised if you call this dealership and the car they said was available on the phone suddenly isn't when you get there. Unbelievably unethical, shoddy salesmanship and business practices. Went there 10 days ago in response to their ad for a two year old Camry. Met with salesman (Mike Smead). My husband and I went for a test drive, discussed the value of my trade in and then waited while "his boss" took my trade in car for a test drive. We were there quite a while waiting and because I had to leave for another appointment, I finally asked him to please send me the final cost in an email. Mike agreed and we left. Later that day I got a stereo-typical form email form Mike thanking us for coming in and asking me to let him know if there was anything else he could do. I responded immediately that I was waiting for the bottom line price. He called and gave me a price (including an $866 "dealer conveyance fee" (I later found out that is NOT their correct conveyance fee, it is $599.) AGAIN, I asked for him to put it in writing and email it back to me. When I didn't hear from him all weekend, I sent him an email on Monday. No response. I then called him the next day and he said before he "had a chance to do anything, it was sold." I was not happy to say the least. Yesterday afternoon, we got a message on our phone from (supposedly) the manager, Thomas Provitz who said the car was available again and he offered a good price for my trade in and gave a bottom line out-the-door price. I called him right back and he confirmed the price and explained the other buyer had changed his mind and decided to purchase an SUV. I told him we would be there at 11 AM this morning. We then rushed around and made all the arrangements for payment and got my car ready for the trade in. Right before we left the house this morning, Mr. Provitz called back and said he was glad he caught me because he "didn't want you to drive all the way out here...WE SOLD the car last night." Unbelievable. Needless to say, I told him we are "so completely done with Stephen Toyota." ... I have never dealt with with type of unethical business and hope never have to again. read more

I have been in the market looking for a new Toyota. I don't know which I like worst - going to the dentist or shopping for a new car. My experiences have been poor and sometimes I wonder if I got the all time worst deals. This time, I used True Car trying to avoid the human contact angle of haggling, which I obviously don't do well at.. The online service actually looked like it would enable me to get a decent price for a lease. The price they were quoting me was several thousand dollars below MSRP. They provided three Toyota dealers, all some distance from my home. I contacted A-1 Toyota and got a confusing reaction. Then I contacted Stephens Toyota in Bristol and found they had the perfect car that I wanted in stock. I went there and Met Dave Simonin (Internet Dave), who turned out to be a real gentlemen, no high pressure and just a genuinely pleasant guy. He honored the quote without discussion, took my existing Toyota going off lease without drama, and did the paperwork so I could drive off with my new leased car. That is enough to highly recommend Dave Simonin, but the story gets better! In talking with the finance manager, Toyota Finance did not want to provide a decent rate. It was late and their contact at the finance department had gone home. They arranged for me to take my new car home with dealer plates and would gladly drive over an hour to provide me with new plates once they negotiated with the Toyota lease people to get me a decent rate. The finance man did all this for me.. Within two days, they had a man drive down to Fairfield County to exchange plates - wow. These people are as good as good gets. First time (used) car buyer here - Stephen Toyota was great and fair. Had to do some negotiating (as you do anywhere) but overall my experience was better than any other place I went - and I shopped around a lot. They offered more for my trade-in than anywhere else and when I had a small problem with the car a few months in - splash shield came detached from one of the rear-wheel wells - they ordered a new one and put it on for free! I'm sure it didn't cost much, but it was a really nice gesture as they said they wanted me to have a good operating vehicle given I had just bought it a few months prior. Overall very happy and would recommend this place whole heartedly. read more
