Our first visit with Oma's Subaru. This was a purely enjoyable and professional experience working with all of the staff in the Suburban Subaru Service Department. Their hours are geared to the working customer open until 7:00 pm. The service counter fully staffed with a knowledgable crew. Our wait was minimal at drop-off and pick-up. We were in to replace a tire that lost a fight with a curb. These particular Bridgestone tires were out of production and the car was ready for four, or two, new tires. So, Suburban located a new replacement that had to be shipped. During that time we were able to leave the cap on-site free of charge. In three days time, Oma's buggy was as good as new and was even given a complimentary safety inspection and fluids topped off. Our report was walked through by our service representative. Red carpet. The bill? Two hundred & eighty, give or take. No bad! read more

I've literally been here for 20 minutes and they have already taken, looked at, assessed and gotten back to me and said be done in five. Absolutely amazing Had such a great experience here! Last week, my husband and I visited Suburban Subaru to test drive a few vehicles we viewed online. The sales person we worked with was polite, but not overly knowledgeable or enthusiastic about the vehicles we were interested in. In fact, he was unable to answer some of my questions and as a customer ready to make a purchase that day, I expected more effort to find out answers rather than simply saying "I don't know." He didn't clearly explain some policies or benefits of purchasing a certified pre owned car, and when I had questions about this was unable to elaborate in a way that made it clear for my husband and I to understand. To top it all off, while waiting to find out more information on pricing, an associate (not the one we were working with) was VERY rude and sarcastic to my husband when he asked if someone was using the restroom. Totally unnecessary and didn't create a friendly atmosphere for spending $40,000! The atmosphere of the business itself was hectic, chaotic, and too close for comfort. There was a suited salesperson of some sort pacing through the very close quarters talking loudly on a cell phone--about customers! It was bizarre. Cant say enough good things about Suburban Subaru. I just leased a Legacy and Jesse was outstanding. When I arrived for the appointment he told me the car I'd searched on-line was waiting for me to test drive and during the drive he answered every question knowledgeably and with enough detail to be meaningful. I'd been upfront about what we could afford and he matched it. The financial parts went smoothly and he spent two hours teaching me the techie parts of the car on the day of delivery. I was advised to start looking for a vehicle as my car was showing signs the end was near. I went to Suburban Subaru early on a Saturday morning and was surprised to see the dealership busy, people waiting for service as well as buyers looking at cars. When I walked into the showroom, only one of the salesmen made eye contact with me and asked what brought me to their location (I was shopping as single woman and he did not look over my shoulder for the "man" buying a car). I explained that i needed a vehicle and what my preference was. He happily showed my what i came in to look at and we took it for a test drive. That vehicle was not for me but i was pleasantly surprised by his low-key, no pressure attitude so I made an appointment to return the following Monday afternoon to look at other cars on the lot. Bottom line: a car buying experience that started Saturday ended 4 days later with a new Subaru in my driveway. Very happy with whole process, how i was treated, and my new car. Buy / Lease / Service Elsewhere... In 2018 I purchased a 2011 Forester from Suburban.  It was a little bit of a ride but the reviews I read at the time seemed to make it worth it.  I was paired with a salesman who had just started and later found out I was one of his first sales at that dealership. The car I ended up purchasing was not even on the lot when I was first looking but I was told it was on the way. I feel that they never fully serviced the vehicle before turning it around and selling it to me. They detailed it and knew they had a guy on the hook and sold me a faulty vehicle from the get go unbeknownst to me.  We got the car home and I genuinely enjoyed it until the issues began. Since the very beginning this car was burning a lot of oil. This car would run out of oil before it was even due for the next oil change!! I have all receipts of my services and the car was only serviced (regularly) here at Suburban, nowhere else. After multiple "oil consumption tests", Warranty inspectors not coming to look at the issues, actual warranty work being done, excuse after excuse after excuse, there was one final straw. While driving with my wife and 1 yo, during one of those 90+ degrees days, the car stalls out at a traffic light on a very busy road in our town. I struggled to start it back up. After heel-toeing it down the road in bumper to bumper traffic, it stalled several more times. I was very lucky and fortunate to be able to get my family home safe. When I brought it in for service, they said I was low on oil. Mind you I was still only half way to the date/mileage for needing another oil change. The service girl told me when this car is low on oil it will turn off as a safety mechanism. I mentioned this was weird as the car never did this before as it has ran low / out of oil in the past. When I went to pick it up they mentioned they cleaned the throttle body in addition to the oil change. No one could clearly communicate what it was that actually caused the issue. After multiple below average encounters with their service department in the past it was clear no one there seems to know what is going on. They always wanted to upsell me instead of helping to diagnose the true issue with this vehicle. After the stalling fiasco, my wife vowed not to drive in the car again with our son. We made the decision to sell the Forester and go down to one vehicle. I inquired with Surburan and they low balled a trade in value not even on the KBB radar. We chose to use a private online selling app and received more than double what they would have offered. It's disappointing to say the least as we purchased the Forester as a reliable family car and turned out to be extremely duped by Suburban selling us a faulty vehicle from the start.  If you are looking at this dealership for your future vehicle you might want to take a second look. If this review even saves one family from headache and quite honestly anxiety this experience has caused then I have done my duty. read more

Please be advised if you give them a bad review they figure out who you are and they take it out on your vehicle, I bought and service my vehicle there going on 8 years making me a loyal customer. I will no longer be a customer there. I brought my car back in February 2021 for an oil change, we are in the beginning of April and the oil light keeps popping up. bought a 2019 outback brand new with all the extended warranty's. car has had nothing but problems, the dealership treats me like crap car broke down after work at midnight and I call the emergency roadside assistance they gave with the sales. After sitting in the cold until 2am they never showed up, they sent the police instead? so I guess if you don't want to help people, you get them arrested. called dealer in the morning, they made it clear that it wasn't their problem and to pay to have the car towed and they will decide if the car is covered. Even though they sold me all the extended warranty's they always try to get me to pay for it. I have to argue with them to show it should be covered. this has to be the worst car dealership I ever worked with. only a fool would ever buy a car from them. now I feel like a fool. Now have paid for all these services that I cannot get, suburban Subaru treats their customers like garbage My advice, don't buy a Subaru and don't buy anything from Suburban Subaru. this isn't a first time event, over 3 years the car has failed many times and every time Suburban Subaru has made it hard to get it fixed on purpose. DO Not buy a car from here! They will sweet talk your ear off so you get the warranty and tell you they have a garage next door will give you a loaner car. Meanwhile the car they give you as a loaner will eat away at gas and cost you more money in the long run then if you call to ask to have a different vehicle they will Lie and tell you they have no other vehicles. My personal vehicle has been in there shop for the past 3 days now and has not had any work done on it I called earlier today and I was told they were on hold with the warranty company for a hour but couldn't reach anyone. I then asked for the number so can reach out myself and was able to reach someone with in less then 25 mins. DO NOT trust these people they will sell you a lemon then ask you to pay them to fix it. This dealership seems more interested in selling than delivering quality service. My trust in them has been shattered, and once I retrieve my car, I won't be returning for any future repairs or purchases. Potential customers, be wary of these practices, as my experience suggests they may prioritize profit over customer satisfaction. read more

Visited the dealership on New Year's Eve looking to buy a Outback. Talked with Don the salesman, who was kind and informative. We decided to move forward to talking numbers after I selected the car I wanted to purchase, and when I presented him with an email from another Subaru dealership showing the same model car for less money, we came to a deal that Suburban Subaru would match the price. We shook hands and he was going to get the ball rolling. I told my two boys that Daddy was getting the car that he loved, and everyone was excited. However, Issac, the sales manager, who has been doing this for 20 years (he constantly mentioned that), told me that they could not honor the deal and that Don never actually told me the deal was done. This was embarrassing, infuriating, and dishonest. This sales manager, in front of my children, was saying, not in so many words, that I was lying and I never reached a deal with Don because he does not have the authority to do that. Meanwhile, I am looking at the desk where the deal was done, and see an award that states"Salesman of the Year." Under my limited experience, I feel when a salesman reaches a deal with a customer, even if the salesman does not have the authority to do so, the company he works for should honor the deal. This was the worst negotiating experience of my life, and I would urge every potential customer to make sure they are aware of my experience before walking through Suburban Subaru's doors. Just got a call from Subaurban Subaru. They want $288.00 to fix my brakes. Car isn't even a year old. Spent money for an extended warranty. Wont cover it. WARRANTY IS USELESS. My husband bought a Ford truck from there after getting the warranty from Suburban Subaru he pulled out of it and got a warranty from someone else who covers brakes. DONT BUY WARRANTY FROM SUBARU....$2150.00 FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT SUCKS. Called Subaru customer service They are trying to rectify the problem before I pick it up. Well...I got in touch with Subaru customer service again today. They said that they will pay for the brakes. Subaru customer service in N.J. are excellent, but still not happy with Suburban Subaru. read more

Initially, I wasn't impressed with Suburbans service department. I called and they were all busy so I left a voicemail. I never got a call back. But I called again and was scheduled right away. This morning I showed up at 8am because I'd clipped a curb and popped one of my tires. I've always had bad luck with tires and wheels on my Imprezas, so I bought the tire and wheel protection. When I walked in this morning, I gave the paperwork on the policy to the guy at the service desk. He said he'd call Allstate and let me know when it was approved. I was worried it was going to be a call, a photo, and an approval process that could take days, especially since when I tried to call them they had an automated message saying call times were significantly increased due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The service person I had was great and waited in hold, sent a photo, and came back 15 minutes later telling me it was 100% covered and they were working on it. When it was as all set, there was no paperwork to sign and no charge. They were awesome and had my factory tire in stock. They got me on my way in little over an hour. I was super pleased with their service and will definitely be back again! read more

I know, you're saying... "five stars for a dealership?". But truly yes, I bought my 2012 WRX from them as well as an extended warranty when I first purchased it back in 2013. Since then I've had to replace a few things that were covered under warranty, and one thing twice, and they did it without hesitation or question as well as going above and beyond and fixing another issue they found. I'm at 93,000 miles on my car and they could've just waited until I hit 100k when the warranty expired and when I brought it back then for another issue could have hit me with that news then, but they didn't and I respect that. Since coming here to the service department I have recommended two friends to start using their services. All of the team members in sales in the front are awesome. Roberto was the one that helped located the WRX that I am in now. He still recognizes me whenever I'm there four years later and doesn't pressure me to buy a new one but rather asks me how my current WRX is and hopes that I still like it. I will be coming back to work with Roberto again when I'm ready to purchase a new car in two years. The team members in the service department are equally as great, very friendly and helpful and I'm sure that job can get quite difficult dealing with people not understanding the constructs and engineering of a car and have to explain to them over and over again, yet they new waver in their disposition or friendliness. They also follow up afterward to ensure that you are happy with your experience. I very much recommend purchasing a vehicle here and bringing your car to get serviced, even if it is not a Subaru. read more

Although I love my Subaru both current and previous, I have been very unhappy with their service department! On multiple occasions I will bring my car in for a recall or an oil change... something small, but when I go to pick it up I am given a list of things that are horribly wrong with my car that costs a boat load of money. When I have asked what is important to be done now they are unable to reduce the list. Most recently they told me 3 things that I needed to fix that would total about $1000. Frustrated and skeptical I found a small auto body shop to ask for a second opinion. After dropping it off they told me that one item on the list Subaru provided for me was wrong! It was something that needed to be tightened.... not fully replaced. It saved about $400! read more

Typical salesman.... Suffered through it for her. Nobody went over the car checklist with us and the operator's manuals were missing from the car. It took our salesmen 30 minutes to "take" them from another car, and say "Used cars don't come the them.". Still not convinced they are the actual manual(s). Yeah. I visited Suburban Subaru last year to test drive a new Impreza that I had received an incredible quote for online. The test drive was just meant to be a formality, but ultimately, my salesman was so condescending that I decided to purchase a car elsewhere. Before the test drive even started, I asked the salesman a question about the bolt configuration of the wheels. (I had a like-new set of sport wheels/tires from my old car that I wanted to reuse if possible.) He scoffed and told me that I "must not know anything about Subarus" if I would ask that, before dismissing my question entirely. I was annoyed with him at this point, but I was given SUCH a good quote on this car that I really wanted to see it through. The car itself had amazing trim and handled beautifully. But not five minutes into the test drive, the salesman turned to me and said something along the lines of, "Wow, I'm surprised that you haven't stalled yet. Most women don't know how to drive manual. Good job!" His sexist comment was the final straw. Now, I don't expect any dealership to be a bastion of fun and happiness. But if you're trying to sell something and I'm offering to pay you a good chunk of change for it, I *do* expect not to be insulted multiple times as I try to complete the transaction. Hopefully that salesman had already reached his monthly quota because he certainly didn't get a sale out of me. read more

Third time's the charm... I brought my car in for service a couple of years ago after moving to the NE. No problems then, however I was hearing a strange noise over the winter so I brought it in to have them check it out. After having it for a day, they called and said it was "mechanically perfect," and that I was all set. Phew, right?! Nah. A couple of days later, the car was making the same noise. I brought it back, and they said I was probably "just using cheap gas" or starting it up with my foot on the gas pedal. I asked them to look again just to be sure, and I had a torn fan belt. Not only did they say that it hadn't been found the week before because they didn't have a good mechanic look at it, but that they had told me it was torn when it was serviced and it was my fault! I complained to the manager, and he gave me a discount, so I kind of let it go. But today really got my goat. We went in to look at a car after looking at another make dealership and not liking what we saw. We went into Subaru without doing too much research beforehand about options, but figured we were in the neighborhood... We had a fairly nice salesman, but he was slow as heck. He left me and my husband waiting for him to grab car keys for at least 15 minutes. Twice. And later, he told us that he'd been looking at my car for trade-in. Didn't ask him to, didn't want him to. We asked him what the differences were between the sport and limited editions, and he couldn't answer. He couldn't even price out roof rails. And after 2 hours, he quoted us a price for a 2014 model. Cool. And we left. I called another Subaru dealership and asked for the same quote and it was $3000 less, for a 2015 for more accessories! This was a fantastic car buying experience. From the time I started inquiring online about a vehicle, to the time I was greeted by Amanda as I entered the dealership, the customer care was phenomenal. I inquired online about a certain vehicle. I immediately got a response from Laura, I explained my situation to her, and she set up an appointment for me later that day. I drove an hour to the dealer from my residence. Amanda greeted me as I entered the dealership. She was quick to get the ball rolling. She asked me a few questions to confirm my needs, took some info. From me, and she was off to get the vehicle I choose to take it for a test drive. While on the test drive Amanda was a wealth of knowledge, and explained the features of the vehicle to me. When we got back to the dealership, my trade in had been appraised and Patrick was working on a credit approval. This did not take long, Amanda was communicating to me the entire way, explaining to me what was going on. We agreed on a price for the new vehicle and my trade. Not a long process at all, never any pressure or drama. After a short wait, I was in to see Manny in finance to sign all the paperwork, Manny was great and took the time to explain everything to me without rushing. I entered the dealership at 3:00 and was out at 5:00. I could have taken the car that night but choose to come back the next day to take delivery. Also Amanda took me to the parts department to get some accessories I wanted on the vehicle, which they had in stock and installed for me. When I came in the next day to take delivery, Amanda took a lot of time explain all the features on the vehicle to me. I was very impressed by how well I was treated by everyone here, and how smooth the entire process went. Never felt pressured and treated with respect. Amanda is amazing, she is a wealth of knowledge, organized, and very easy to work with. I will definitely be recommending my friends and family use this dealership when buying a Subaru. Since writing this review, I have sold the car that I purchased from Suburban. The salesman I worked with at the other dealership was an ex-employee at Suburban and enlightened me to the ways that they work behind the scenes. After working with him, I realized that I was so caught up in the excitement of purchasing a brand new car with 7 miles, I overlooked a few details that had cost me quite a bit of money. As a result of this, I refuse to return to this dealership for any future business, and have stopped recommending this location to others. Should anybody shop here, the finance department should be avoided at all costs. Promising one rate and then locking in another at the last minute is a shady move that should never be pulled. Based upon my credit score, there is no reason I should've had the rate that they gave me. read more

I recently had a car get towed to Suburban Subaru after it broke down on the side of the highway. The estimate that they gave me sounded really high so I called another service shop to get a comparison price based on the problems my car was having. The pricing from the other service place a few miles away came in at half the cost. Suburban Subaru is charging me a ridiculous "diagnostic charge" and their staff has been nothing but rude throughout the whole process. I would steer clear of this place if you can! Update: my car has since been fixed by the other dealership. Suburban Subaru told me that I needed to replace my battery and that alone was going to cost a couple hundred dollars. Suburban Subaru quoted me just over $1,000 in repairs but the other service station just fixed my car (no battery replacement necessary) for $303 dollars. I realize that the Subaru dealership is required to use Subaru parts which can be more expensive, but this was absurd. read more

Purchased my first Subaru from John Woodman and could not be happier. We drove around to several different dealers and ultimately purchased from suburban Subaru because the price was fair and the sales staff was honest, reliable, and trustworthy. We had a rental car and had to return it the day that we purchased the car and they kindly gave us a brand new Crosstrek as a loaner so that they could detail the car that we purchased and get it ready for us. The whole process was easy and enjoyable -- no annoying, pushy sales talk. We were lucky to meet John and work with him and I cannot recommend him more highly! read more

Suburban Subaru was my second stop on my search for a new Forester. After reading some of the other reviews I feel like I should've been treated better. I browsed their small lot for about 10 minutes before I was approached. The sales guy asked me a couple of questions and more or less left. They were moderately busy, but then I saw him helping other customers. I waited around and tried to find someone else, but left after 15 more minutes of walking past at least 3 other sales guys. I tried to get one's attention, but he brushed me off as well. I understand weekends are probably busy for car dealers, but it wasn't that packed. Maybe my desire to walk around before throwing my money at sales people made me seem like less of a buyer? Not impressed. read more

THEY HAVE A $500.00 CONVEYANCE FEE. Call around because they do not all charge this. I will NEVER buy a car from these people again. They are required by LAW to tell you if you, "if do not want to pay the "$500.00 conveyance fee, then register the car yourself", That never happened and there were (3) of us present. It was NOT on the deposit slip we left either. We saw it on the day we picked the car up so talk about super invasive. Then the saleman said "Camrys are the safest cars".....a month later, the news came out to say, "Toyota Camrys FAILED the crash test".
