Made an appointment for a service evaluation for 9:00am. Left my vehicle there - they said it would take a couple hours. I called a few hours later for status - and got voicemail. They called a couple hours later and said it had not been looked at yet. No further contact thoughout the day and even as they closed. This is unacceptable. Further, the service was about a trasmission issue I complained about while it was still under warranty. The service dept said at that time that there wasn't anything to do unless the transmission failed - which it had not. As it turns out, there was a TSB for this very issue I was not notified of that may correct the issue. Of course, Vernon Chevrolet said since it was no longer in warranty, the service would be at my expense. Stay clear of these shady, greedy crooks. read more

I would never recommend Carter for service...my husband took our hummer H3 to get serviced, first they charged $200 just to tell us what was wrong then said they re-wired and fixed problem....then two days later light came back on so went back. Then they charged another $221 to tell us the same thing as the first time but they "could possibly" fix the issue for another $800....statement says "85% repair possibility" & "the chances of the overlay working is approximately 85%"!!!So you charge $400 plus to tell us there is only an 85% chance it could be the problem!!! Let's see if the Boss in service dept calls back, in mean time not recommending on Facebook, twitter, and word of mouth!! My two daughters college funds could have been $400 larger read more

Updating my review to reiterate my 5-star rating for Carter Chevrolet. These guys know the score. My hoopty stopped moving backward the other day (transmission pooped the bed pretty badly...the service advisor was pretty impressed at the level of damage when they cracked it open), so my warranty towed me here. Carter Chevrolet could not have been better during this process and I'm very grateful for what they've done for me. After settling me down on the phone by assuring me the car was warranted to 100K, Carter Chevrolet arranged roadside assistance for me. They squeezed a major repair into a busy service shop so that I could get my ride back as soon as possible. They arranged a rental car for me (granted that got screwed up pretty badly by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, but that got fixed up, too). Carter also kept me abreast of what was going on with my car and when I'd have it back. I never lacked for information, and I could always find my Chevy man if I did have to call. My service advisor has told me to make sure I call him when/if I need any adjustments as transmission repairs of this ilk sometimes require them. And to be honest, I'm probably going to need to do so as my steering wheel is off center (a common problem, from what I'm told). But I am totally confident that Carter Chevrolet will be handling this as well as they did the major repair. As good as it gets folks. I have complete confidence in Carter Chevrolet. And since my other car is a Mazda, I'm happy to know that Manchester Mazda is their garage, too. I know I'll get the same service there. Received a flyer in the mail for end of season clearance. Stopped down to the dealership and saw the exact vehicle in the flyer. Carter Chevrolet would NOT honor the sale price in the flyer. They wanted $4000 more with no reasonable explanation. I will NEVER give them my business again, and will discourage friends and family from ever considering them. Very unfair business practice. I even do my grocery shopping online and pick them up at the store. Bob and David made the whole vehicle buying process painless for me. They even brought the vehicle I wanted (in the color I wanted, with the options I needed) out to my home for me to test drive and drove my car back to the dealership to be appraised. Their service dept. is outrageously expensive. My truck was not shifting correctly so, I brought it Carter. They told me it was the range selector on the tranny. They charged me $1115 to replace it. $538 parts and 5.7 hrs. labor plus $20 material fee. Next day I look the parts up on line, $107 and watch a video of How to replace it. It's a one hour job. They also told me that my Power steering pump and tran. cooler lines were leaking and want $1300 to fix. I can get the parts for $200 and do it myself in a couple of hours. I do most of my own maintenance and this was the first time I ever used A dealer. Never again, what a rip off! Response to comment: It was one range selector and the two wiring harnesses that pug it in, all three parts online(package deal) $107. I know exactly what you did! My response to response. STOP, OK! What a terrific experience here! I came in Wednesday evening on a whim because my old car had a dead transmission and I still owed money on it. I didn't think they would be able to do anything for me, but within minutes Ron went to work. He did everything he could to help and he was genuine and honest the entire time. Buying a new car can be a daunting task especially for a first time buyer or someone who doesn't know exactly what they're looking for. Carter Chevrolet takes all that away! After spending a few weekends visiting several dealerships in CT I came across Carter Chevrolet. Not only do they know what they are doing, but they have exceptional customer service! I was able to walk around their lot and check out several different vehicles without all the pressure of a sales person following you're around. After I had a chance to look over a few vehicles I was interested in I went in and spoke to Mark Cross about them. What a guy! I told him what I thought I could spend and he handed me a few keys and let me take them out for a test drive. And, I'm not talking around the block! Mark knows the area really well and he wanted to make sure I got to get a good feel for it before I considered buying anything. After we got back with the 2012 Chevy Impala LT we crunched some numbers and Mark sold me my Chevy and was spot on to what market value was. I told him I had one concern and that it was going to need tires soon, well let me tell you; Mark went ahead and made sure they put brand new fresh from the factory performance tires on it. Carter Chevrolet - Sleazy And Deceptive Tactics - BUYER BEWARE! Carter Chevrolet, lead by premier snake oil Sales Manager, "Bob Oles, used deceptive practices to avoid honoring their return policy, which states - "4 Day Money Back Guarantee" (maximum use - 200 miles). The Facts: Purchased a vehicle on 3/9/17 Drove home (100 miles) Parked the car in my garage On 3/10/17, the East Coast experienced a major snowstorm. This made it impossible to get the car back to Carter Chevrolet within 4 days. Yes, I could have been more fastidious in examining the car before purchasing, but with an "iron clad" 4 Day Return Policy, and 3 Month Limited Warranty, I thought I had some recourse in the event of a problem? Nothing could be further from the truth! During the snowstorm I had a chance to scrutinize the car and found numerous issues - from cosmetic to more serious problems. I politely asked Carter Chevrolet to look the car over and work with me, but they flat out refused. Of course Bob Oles offered to take the car back on a trade-in for a more expensive model-----how magnanimous! Specific issues: - Body panels that don't line up properly- Juncture point where front passenger side bumper, hood, and fender meet. -Drive's side front wheel well - Loose, flimsy with enormous play; can almost be removed by hand. - Deep, noticeable scratches and rock chips on driver's side taillight housing and rear bumper. - Grainy scratch (about 2" in length) down to the paint on the edge of the rear fender about half way between the driver's door & rear bumper that's an eyesore with the hatch door open or closed. - Abrasive curb rash and pitting (pealing chrome on edge of rim) on two wheels: Driver's front and passenger rear. - Front Air Dam tattered and broken in several places. - Broken wiper blades - 75% oil reading (should have had a fresh oil change/100% reading. - Clutch Fluid - Far below factory recommend level - with the consistency of "sludge". - Over inflated tires - 35 psi. Factory recommendation is 30 psi. It would have cost Carter Chevrolet (with a repair and body shop on the premises) next to nothing to make this right, but showing good faith and integrity isn't part of the equation for them. Carter Chevrolet did offer to make good on an oil change, Front Air Dam, and wiper blades. They act like they're doing me a favor, but the joke is - ALL of these items should have been addressed PRIOR to purchase! And the final straw, which proves how Bob Oles lies through his teeth - He instructed me to buy a new pair of wiper blades from a local Chevy dealer, submit a receipt through Carter Chevrolet for reimbursement, and receive a check in the mail. On 3/31, I did just that. As of this writing (4/15), I have yet to receive payment. My guess is that Carter Chevrolet never inspected the vehicle? If they had, this is a clear example of gross incompetence. Not one to be duped, I'm currently in dispute with Carter Chevrolet over a financial matter. I've also filed a complaint with the BBB, and have written negative reviews on Google and Yelp. Big lessoned learned - If you're in the market for a used vehicle, buy from the original owner, and have a comprehensive inspection done by a qualified, honest, objective third party. Having a dealer sell AND "inspect" a car is at the very least a conflict of interest (dealers use this ploy to gain trust and confidence), and in this case, what feels like collusion. New owners are wrecking this place. After my wife's buying experience 7 years ago, we have directed three other family members to this dealership. They always provided a fair price without the "let me check with the sales manager" hassle. Maybe because of this I trusted them too much during my recent purchase and got burned. After mentioning my purchase to someone, they noted that the trade-in value of the Chevy truck that I traded in seemed too low. Sure enough an internet search showed that the fair trade-in value was $4,000 higher than what I received. They have the truck listed for $8,000 more than what they claimed was a fair trade value. I should have done better research, but guess I trusted them after multiple family purchases. Check reviews the much lower Manchester Honda reviews. Oil changes with drain plug left loose. Greese and grime inside my car on leather seats. Sent away with a fuel leak after a "repair." Misdiagnosis several times. List goes on and on. I would like to give these guys a big zero stars. I had my car in for service for heat issues after I had changed the heating core myself. I had called before bringing my car in for help as to what was causing the issue and they told me I needed to bring it in and have the computer recalibrated to fix the problem. I waited for 3 hours only to get in my car after payment to find that nothing was resolved. They then told me that they could go in the dash and make sure the heating ducts were hooked up correctly to fix the problem. Once I got back to get my vehicle I had the same issue I came to get fixed and they wouldn't give me my vehicle unless I paid for the service. I paid for the service so I could leave for an appointment. I later called the service manager to discuss the problem and he was going to look into it and get back to me. That was 5 days ago and I have called several times only for no response. Not a good way to do business. read more

From the second I walked in until the moment I was driving away in my newly purchased 2011 BMW M3 (entire process took only 48 hours), the team at Carter Chevrolet provided the best car buying experience I had ever had! When I first stepped into the dealership, I was welcomed with a very friendly greeting and the man at the front desk asked me if there was anything he could help me with today. I told him that I wanted to take a look at the alpine white 2011 BMW M3 (my dream car), and he went and grabbed a salesman for me. While I was waiting for only a couple of minutes, he told me I could sit in the brand new fiery red Corvette Stingray sitting in the showroom. I felt like a kid sitting in that thing, it was incredible! Beats any waiting room I've ever been in! He returned with the salesman, Mark Cross, who invited me to go outside and take a look at the car with him. Mark was very friendly, personable, and easy to talk to. He answered all of my questions, and he had a very sincere quality about him. Mark and I took the car for a test drive (it took everything I had in me to keep from flooring the 414hp V8 monster), and he took me on an excellent route for testing out the car. We hit the highway, some residential roads, and a brief twisty back road to circle back. When we arrived back at the dealership, we got started on the paperwork. He had my old car assessed for its trade-in value, and I got what I expected for it. He and Jonathan Buttero (their financial expert) were able to get me financing at the monthly rate I had aimed for. They both answered any questions I had during this process and they were both very knowledgable. After only 30 to 45 minutes or so, they informed me that they had sent out the auto loan paperwork and told me I would be notified the next day whether or not I was approved. The next morning I received the exciting news from Mark that I had been approved, and that the car would be ready for me to pick up the next day at 330pm! The next day I met with Mark and went over a few details, before meeting with Jonathan again to put the finishing touches on the paperwork. Both men were extremely friendly and welcoming throughout the entire process. Before I knew it I was driving home in a car I have wanted for years, with a smile from ear to ear! I would not recommend Carter Chevrolet !!!! I made an appointment dropped my truck off before they opened for a front end problem and a heater motor problem. I got a phene call at about 11am was told there was nothing wrong with the front end and mechs. went home early and they would try to get to the blower motor. I received no call the rest of the day. The next day I finally called at 3 pm and was told my truck was all set. I got a ride to pickup my truck . When I got back to work I found my blower motor still didn't work with the front end still feeling funny I took my truck to an other GM dealer . I received from the other dealer that the blower motor was repaired under the recall and the parts that were supposed to have been change at Carters had not been done. Also as for the front end the pitman arm and idler arm were very warn . So my next new truck will be not be bought at Carters . They should take a good look at there service dept. read more
