I love that they ask you to wash your hands first before handling all the polishes- I admittedly don't get my nails done very often, but I've never been anywhere that does this. My nail technician was Cici, and my moms was Susan. Both of them were very nice, and very professional. When prepping our nails, they checked in with us frequently to make sure we were happy with the shape and length of our nails, and we were both so impressed at their speed and precision! My mom and I left there extremely satisfied with our nails, and will definitely be using this nail salon for any future nail care. Went for the first time yesterday. They put the water on so hot for the pedicure that I burned my feet, then she added ice cold water. The gentleman that I had was not personable at all, didn't do a good job (sorry!) - left nail polish around the nails and everything. Kind of rushed me out, didn't listen to me at all. Asked for acrylic on my toes with French tips and got the stellar pedicure, it was an issue 3 people complained before finding someone to do it, she finished the paint job and acrylic fine but when I reminded her I wanted tips she threw a hissy fit and yelled to her co worker from across the room all aggravated... I love Stellar's clean facility and the manager is always hospitable. But the past two times I've come here, my technicians have been rushed and careless, even when not busy. This time I had Kiki and got a regular mani pedi. She did not wash my hands or clean my nails in any way, and her filing left them unevenly shaped and jagged on the edges. Base coat got everywhere. For the pedicure she barely rolled my pants above my ankles. My pants did get wet. She exfoliated only the top of my foot/ankle for about 3 seconds before rinsing. One of my toenails is cut diagonal. Foot massage was like someone brushing my foot with their fingers, I could barely feel it. Overall just no effort at every step, spent very little time on anything. Made it obvious that she didn't care and was just slapping the polish on. I will say - the technician next to us was doing a nicer job. Definitely not worth the $61 before tip. read more

Clean salon. However they DON'T soak nails!!!! After removing gel nails, hands are very dry from the acetone. That's when you are supposed to soak to loosen cuticles. That did not happen. Nail tech then pretended to clip cuticles from dry hands. Then painted nails over dry nails, did not have me wash my hands. No bonding primer used either. I've been getting my nails done for 20 years and I have never had such a weird experience. Had to clip my cuticles at home. The only good part is that it's a clean salon and they use fresh tools. During covid I called when they first open and gave me the earliest appointment they had same day. They are currently taking appointments only no walk in. Mask required. Sanitizer hands before walking in, once in wash your hands, pick out your nail polish and then your on your way to some pampering. I needed a pedicure like woooeee! My feet were a mess from wearing steel toed boots on the daily. They sat me in a pedi chair, used a plastic bag inside the tube and pulled out new utensils out of surgical packaging. I choose the type of pedicure I wanted. Moisturized, chiseled, massaged and then painted. They used hot stones and heated towels. I was in heaven. My feet missed this TLC. The things I was bummed about was they never turned on the massage chair and I felt pain the next day like my big toe nail was cut to short. I've tried this place 3x because my sister loved it. First time, they burned my skin on the top of my foot with the callous remover gel - and said nothing. They also mismatched my hand and foot colors all the while swearing they were the same color. The second time they mismatched the colors again and rushed the whole thing. Third time they were going to mismatch the colors again and I changed my mind and stuck with the same color and cheaper service. They got mad at me and insisted it was the same color, but even though they started having a mini meltdown I stuck to my guns because I wasn't going to pay for something I didn't like - and I knew it was going to be rushed and overpriced no matter what. Other things - they literally only do 2 thin layers of polish and a top coat - my local spa does 3 plus a base coat and top coat, and it's amazing how long it lasts - even though it's not gel - not here. They also don't soak your nails and spend very little time and attention to detail filing and cutting. They will also argue with you if you don't like something or want to change because things are going sideways. No one here looks like they like their job or the people who come in. it's also 100% hard to leave here for under $100 even if you just want a basic mani pedi. That would be ok but the whole thing is very rushed and unfriendly and I agree with the other review that says that their pricing is not up front. It's prob OK if you just want a gel mani or a quick mani but I have no idea what that would cost. This is also the only place I've been where they ask you to pay in the middle of your service before they're even finished. My one color regular mani and green tea pedi was something like $86 before tip. It started wearing off 2 days later. What they call a massage feels rushed and it's like 2 mins. It's very clean and they have a good selection of colors, but I'm not going back anymore because it's just not enjoyable or worth the cost. read more

I was having a rough week and decided to get my nails done as a little treat to myself. I usually go to La boutique nails in PVD but didn't want to drive all the way there on a random Friday so I decided to go with this salon, as it is much more local to me. This was a mistake. I made my appointment for 3:30 at 1:00 pm--I wanted 3:00, but they couldn't fit me in until 3:30, which I completely underhand because this is rather last minute. Once I got there and I told them by name and appointment time I was told to sit and wait which I did--for, count 'em, 45 minutes. Multiple people went before me, including people who were walk ins for more complicated services where I only wanted a classic manicure and again, had an appointment. I felt ignored pretty much the entire time, until I was literally the last person sitting there and then I finally got serviced. I understand how tough customer service is and I would be more understanding if there was anything to make up for this, but I got no apology, nothing. The manicure itself was standard, nothing special, and some polish was left on my skin. It is a pretty salon and smells nice, but they don't seem to have the professionalism to back it up. I don't even know where to begin. I came here because of the excellent yelp reviews while in the area on vacation. First the place - silent, no one speaking to anyone really odd vibe. This guy motions for me to come sit and just starts off doing a rushed job, he cuts me once and looks up doesn't say sorry and keeps going. Then says ok paraffin time - another male comes over seems like manager or owner and tells him to put base coat on before paraffin...great I have the new guy in training. Go sit down to start drying and literally someone starts spraying cleaning solution all around me on the floor/on me - literally some gets sprayed into my leg. So I'm thinking eh this place is kind of crap, unfriendly and now I've been sprayed with cleaning solution...probs more 2 star review. Ok fast forward to the next day and my nails are changing color. Ummm. Yes. Please see attached. My off white is changing into a weird yellow but only on some fingers. I don't even know what to say, I get a manicure every week and I've never had it change colors like this? The top coat was unlabeled I'm not wondering what was in this. We have a beach house in Narragansett and we spent seven weeks there this summer. I have tried other nail salons in the area but Stellar blows the doors off anything else I've found. The salon is stylish and relaxing, clean and very well appointed. I splurged on a milk spa pedicure that included exfoliation, a lengthy, blissful massage and heated "booties" (your feet are encased in plastic with scented oil inside the booties) - possibly the most indulgent, incredible pedicure I've ever had. The gel French manicure was perfect and included, as others have noted, a wonderful neck and shoulders massage. Oh, and they offer free bottled water. The best part is that my nails lasted forever! I went to Stellar Nails (again) just before leaving Rhode Island in mid September and if my nails hadn't grown you'd never have known they had been done more than three weeks ago. I often will call ahead and make an Appointment or arrive right when they open because it can get busy and I have a preference for who does my nails. I'm really sad to say this wasn't the place. I opted for a basic pedicure and was really disappointed and dissatisfied. The young guy that did my toes did not apply a base coat and applied nail polish directly into my toe nails... he did not cut my cuticles and did not buff my nails as basic pedicures generally should. I opted for a soft pink/white and there is nail polish all over my skin, he also did a mediocre job on filling my nails. Overall I would not recommend. I agree with the three star reviews. If I have to ask you more than once to please make sure you're getting the sides of the nail.... So I just went for the first time today and got a powder dip manicure. Everyone was very nice, the place was very clean, but I had to keep on asking the nail tech to make sure that they got the sides of the nail. I also have a pet peeve about how far they stop before the cuticle. I don't want to come out of the salon looking like I already have a week's worth of grow out. I'm sure I could probably be more directive next time, so I might try them again, but beware. read more

The experience was average. My friend and I made a quick reservation at 6PM but only ended up not being served until 6:30 PM and after one lady came in after us with a reservation at 6:15. The price listing for a 'classic manicure' stated $16 but when we were asked to pay, it was only $10. It is a great price for the effort used to paint my nails. Leo painted my nails and was very nice. I had picked two colors and we had a small miscommunication about which nails I wanted to be painted a certain color. The employees cut and buff your nails but ask you to pay before painting your nails. He did make a mistake on painting my ring finger a different color but I was able to point it out and he apologized immediately and cleaned it with wiping alcohol. He started with a base coat then put three coats of the much lighter color on my ring fingers and only two coats of the neutral color on the rest of my fingers. He finished it off with a top coat. The whole process only took about half an hour as he just kept painting on top of my nails without having them dry. After he was done, he guided me to the drying desk where I simply just sat there to let my nails dry. The setting was very nice. The crystal-glass chandelier definitely was the emphasis of the room as it was right above the round table where all of the nail polish was. The nail polish was sorted by color and brand which was very satisfying to me. There were many desks for manicures and many chairs for pedicures. read more

They have arrows on the floor and plastic shields for COVID that are too disruptive. I chose the classic pedicure for $30 and they still did callus scrub and 15 minute calf and foot massage.
