Recently returned for a callous removal pedi. First it seems they don't use sterilized tools. Just some clippers taken from a bucket. the tech cut my baby toe when she she trimmed the cuticles (was bleeding) She then used a regular kitchen tool type cheese grater on my heels. Very rough and my heel was bleeding at the dry station. She dabbed some powder on the cut and I HAD TO ASK for a bandaid!! The back of my heel was scraped raw. It's now just healed after 2 weeks, lucky no infection occurred. read more

Went in today 5/21 for a full set with dip powder. The dip came out totally lumpy and misshaped and I figured they would be drilled and shaped but no. I had to ask multiple times for them to be less thick and shaped properly but they still came out pretty bad. I had to just accept how they were going to look but for the end price of $75 I shouldn't have settled. I went here once before and was very satisfied but I won't come back again. Magic Nails was the only salon (after I searched for five years) that was able to nurse my nails back to health. The quality and care taken to restore them was very much appreciated. I had a great experience at Magic Nails in Narragansett. I was staying in Narragansett and needed to remove and replace my SNS nails. I called in advance the day before to schedule an appointment for the following evening. They offer a full array of services including acrylics, gel, dip, pink, designs, pedicures. I thought prices were extremely reasonable compared to Northern Va prices. I only paid 40 for dip nails. Once I picked my color, I waited a few minutes before a tech begin to remove my existing dip. They didn't charge me for the removal either. My nail tech was very friendly and filed/ trimmed my nails in a nice rounded shape. She completed the dip part quickly but carefully. I loved the final result. My only qualm is she was kinda aggressive with the electric file and got really close to my cuticle. It hurt. But overall great place for simple, inexpensive dip application. read more

But I ended up giving her a $10 tip since I could tell she was trying, she just didn't have the skill set and experience to do a better job. I was paying a lot of money so another girl did end up fixing some of the nails, but not all-I also have her a tip. I was trying not to be picky & just get the ones I didn't love fixed. This used to be my go-to salon but the visits over the past several months have been less and less satisfactory. The nail technician are very nice but they are either less skilled and too slow (so your nails look meh after you spent forever there) or skilled and quick but you feel so rushed. Also, for the first time ever, the nail tech tried to upsell me to a "spa pedicure" which sounded like the same service they already provide. The cost of this she said was $45 (just for the pedicure- w/normal nail polish) ...I declined and took the regular mani &pedi for the usual $35. They also stopped replacing the lamps in their nail drying table so your hands are freezing and take longer to dry, and do not dry as thoroughly. They don't take credit for tips so you need to remember some cash. I think I need a new go-to nail salon. The negatives are starting to outweigh the positive. I just kept hoping they were in a slump... read more

Very sad to give this place a bad review but feel like it's necessary. It's NOT due to quality People were very friendly & did a nice job BUT 1. We had 10:30 appo & had to wait 45 minutes to be seated & then waited another 15 minutes for them to start. 2. Was getting nails done with daughter & they sat us separately. 3. Added features w/o disclosing that there was an additional charge - ended up spending over $100 on my nails when I had estimated $75 . 4. Quick summary: Don't go here! I used to regularly get acrylic nails here while being a college student at URI. They would always have a student offer so I figured I would try it out. It was my first time sticking with acrylics so I didn't know the norms. My nails would break off after only a week or 2 weeks maximum. One time I went to get my tips refilled here and less than an hour after I left, I went home to change clothes and one of my acrylic nails entirely fell off. I was so upset and frustrated but had to get ready for a dance competition so I abruptly used gorilla glue to put the nail back on- which certainly wasn't healthy for my nails, looking back. After paying for a nail refill, your nail should never fall off an hour after leaving the salon! I had to go back for refills so frequently that my nails became so brittle and it became painful to put my nails under the UV ray light so, ultimately, I decided to end getting acrylics entirely. During one of my last visits, a nail tech told me my polish would cost an extra $5 because she used a powder. She didn't tell me it would cost extra before she put it on my nails. She also said that they always use the powder, which they don't because I'd been going to them for months and I'd even had her as a nail tech prior to this event and she never did the extra $5 powder on my nails. One of my biggest pet peeves with nail salons is when they try to skim you of your money without acknowledging that what they're doing to your nails costs extra. While she worked on my nails, she also pointed out how poor my tips were done last time and said who ever did it messed up. She asked me where I got it done, I said here and told her it was done by the nail tech to her right, at which point she stopped commenting on my tips entirely. Another important thing I noticed about this nail salon is how they put a fresh set of acrylics on. Since I was new to acrylic nails, I wasn't aware of it at the time, but the proper way to apply the nail is to place the acrylic nail onto your natural nail in a curved, gradual fashion. At this salon, they always just placed the acrylic nail on top of my natural nail, which is likely the reason why my acrylic nails frequently broke off. After getting my nails done here, I stopped going to nail salons entirely. It's a shame that I had such a bad experience and ever since, I've simply painted my nails at home or left them bare. I recommend you try to find a reliable, knowledgeable nail salon because I didn't have any luck here for months. My acrylic nails were constantly breaking and my natural nails became so brittle and weak after too many frequent tip refills that wouldn't have been needed if my nails were done properly. I haven't found a good nail salon myself, but I wish the rest of you luck! :) read more

The first few times I went to this nail salon I was pretty satisfied, but recently it has been going downhill. I have acrylics and the other day she put a different type of gel on my nails. When I went to go put them under the UV they were burning and the pain was literally excruciating. I didn't speak up because I didn't want to be rude but I kept taking my hand out a little because it hurt that bad. She then said keep them in and I said it hurt and she insisted that it was fine... I asked for a matte top coat, I was still charged for the top coat even when my nails came out not even remotely matte. My nails look great, and on the few occasions over the years that I've had an issue they took care of it quickly and at no cost to me. Made a reservation for 4 of us to get pedicures while vacationing in the area. When we arrived, one of the male workers told us that no one had written down our reservation so we would have to wait a while. After 30 minutes, 2 of us were able to sit down for rush job pedicures. After over an hour, our 2 other friends were still waiting for their pedicures to begin. Aside from the lack of organization and obvious disregard for those who call ahead, the pedicures were decent enough. My nails looked great and the woman who worked on my feet made them nice and smooth. However, 3 of us had blood drawn - one that turned into an infection (yuck)! I asked for a French manicure and I walked out with white polish along the skin just below nail. The manicurist wore a mask but talked so low, I couldn't hear what she was asking me. I gave this place 1 star because I was forced to choose a star rating! This place is absolutely FILTHY! I was swarmed by fruit flies, then they had me sit at a pedicure chair, and left me there. I actually looked around for bleach or some type of cleaner so I could wash the foot bath tub! I ended up walking out before they remembered I was sitting there! Filthy, dirty and way over booked with clients! I wonder if the board of health has ever been there! Dead skin, nails, bugs, and that was just in the waiting area! I've gone here several times in hopes they improve and because they give a student discount but I have never been happy with how my nails turn out. I got a gel manicure ($25) on tuesday and by thursday the gel was starting to peel off. I am writing this on a Saturday and two nails have just completely peeled off. Gel manicures should last about a week and a half not 4 days. This has happened every time I have gotten a gel manicure here. They go so quickly through a manicure and seem lazy about everything. I rarely post reviews but felt compelled to share our experience to prevent others from having a less than satisfactory experience. We scheduled three pedicures for 5/27/18 and upon our arrival we were taken promptly, unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of our visit. The nail technicians were aloof and barely interested in providing a quality experience. Our feet were hastily dipped into the water for a brief soak followed by quick buffing and nail clipping. No massage at all. Polish was applied and we herded to the overly crowded drying area. Quickest and worst pedicure I have received anywhere. No effort made to ensure customer comfort or satisfaction whatsoever. Cleanliness was also questionable. Don't waste your money here, just about anyplace else would provide a better experience. read more

Nail Techs talked to each other the entire time completely not focused at all on what they were doing which made them take so long and was just so annoying when you're paying for a manicure.
