Ordered the 6 oz ribeyes one medium, one medium rare. The steaks are super thin and very tough. The medium one was basically a baseball glove. The medium rare was well done. Side salads are not great: one very tiny tomato slice on a pile of pale iceberg lettuce. Seems they are trying to be a low cost leader now that you can order good steaks from anywhere. I've only eaten their food twice. Both times I had it delivered to me. My first experience a few years ago wasn't amazing, but yesterday's was pretty good! My coworker and I each ordered the grilled sirloin tip garden salad. This salad was huge! I wasn't sure I could finish it, but I did. It's got all the "watery" vegetables as I like to call it with mainly lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I would have liked more leafy greens like arugula or something. We each had a portion of grilled sirloin tips we added on top of our salad along with cheese, crackers, and bleu cheese dressing. They give you three 1.5oz cups of bleu cheese dressing. My coworker ordered an extra one which was probably the perfect amount of dressing because I was left wanting just a tad more dressing. We ordered our steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of pink on the inside. Just know that this is more of a "casual steak place". The steak here is not quite as good as some other places I've been but the prices are also lower. Somehow the Steak-Out franchise in Orlando didn't make it, but Steak-Out is still abundant in Alabama, so as we were driving through the state we made it a point to stop. We arrived for lunch and placed a large order to go (we ordered extra to take home to Orlando for a friend, no kidding). The employees were really friendly and even offered my husband free iced tea for us while we waited. Things started out pretty promising, but our order took a lot longer than we expected. In hindsight we should have called in our order ahead. Our food was all pretty good. I had the sirloin tips lunch special. My husband and son had the steak sandwiches. My husband's sandwich had quite a bit of fat on it, so that wasn't too great. We packed up some food in a cooler to bring home with us and our friend that received it was quite happy. Expensive but sooooo needed! We were stuck at a crappy hotel after driving over 8 hours home from Florida. Birmingham was about our half-way point. My husband inquired at the front desk about food delivery options and came back with the usual pizza and Chinese crap. Then he said, "Oh, and there's this place." He plopped down a door-hanger brochure for Steak-Out. We called and determined that they did indeed deliver to the hotel we were staying at. They stated that it would be 45 minutes (the gentleman on the phone said that they had to say that and that the time would most likely be less than that). So, we ordered. It was over an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and an half later when our food arrived. We were beyond hungry. I had the sirloin tips which came with a roll and baked potato. The food still managed to arrive nice and hot. My steak was cooked medium well, as requested. The roll was good. They had just about every topping imaginable for our baked potatoes. As my husband stated, "They really hooked us up!" We had decent food, but we were so hungry we probably would have eaten drywall. The food took way too long to get to us, considering what they stated the delivery time was on the phone. Well that was stupid. We were super tired and our grill was on the fritz so i made the mistake of throwing caution into the wind. Extremely rude staff and manager. They passed out flyers in the hospital that said they were open until 11:00 P.M. We called at 10:10 and the worker answered and rudely stated "we are closed" and hung up the phone. Wish they had an option for half a star. I had to stay in Birmingham overnight. My family was hungry and exhausted so we decided to order delivery to our hotel Not being from the area, The Howard Johnson hotel gave us a few menus to choose from. We thought the steak sandwiches would be cheaper and faster than Chinese. Upon placing my order for 2 sandwiches which was about 9:30 pm the male taking the order said "We will be there shortly." An hour later I call back asking the status of my delivery. The guy said "We are busy. Yours is the next one out. It will be about 20 minutes. Do you still want it?" Stupidly I answered yes only because we were starving and believed him. Half an hour goes by and the food is still NOT there. Once again I call. The guy says "Oh the driver is right there." Ten minutes later the driver finally shows up. When asked what took 2 hours to deliver LUKEWARM sandwiches he says "They didn't tell you we were busy?" Not once did I get a sorry or was informed it would take 2 hours for delivery of barely warm food and a bag of chips. I wish I would have gone with Chinese food. The steak out in Homewood Al is disrespectful, unorganized, understaffed, and slow. After making an order online, I called the location to ask for extra sides on my salad since they only give you a chunk of iceberg lettuce and a half slice tomato. The lady told me my food was already bagged up and it was next out of the door. Well over an hour later, some disheveled guy comes to my door with an attitude not even trying to hear out that I didn't feel I should have to pay FULL price for my meal since its been over an hour! Who wants hour old steak?!?! Plus I live less than 5 minutes away from them. Then on top of that, the driver tells me I should've called the store so he didn't have to waste his gas. Excuse me??? I would've still tipped him well just for not acting like a rude hobo. But oh well fuck yo gas and your bum ass job. I called the store to complain and the guy on the phone was a total asshole as well saying that an hour delivery time is standard (for steak??) I could see if you don't cook it until you get a driver but damn you just gonna make my order and let it sit up there for over an hour?? No thanks. Their food even isn't that great.
