Really? Placing an order through a kiosk with an 88yr old? I'm 65 and had a hard time....my whole order disappeared when trying to pay and had to start all over again and even then I guess the onion rings we ordered didn't get placed. I was treated like a crook/liar when I asked about the onion rings. I would have been fired if I was working at another fast food restaurant for the mistakes I made.....that's right the mistakes I made as a customer. Plus the place was filthy. I didn't realize we had to wash/wipe down tables before sitting down.....I didn't know where the cleaning supplies were.....guess I wasn't trained properly. The burger was good, but I work for a living so I can go grab a quick bite to eat....didn't realize that I had to do additional work to get a burger at this place. I also noticed other customers having difficulty placing orders....one guy walked out....not a smooth running system here....lack of training for/to the customers. Every time I come here I swear I will never come back, but I always give them one more chance because we like the food. The service is horrible, everyone from the greeter at the front door to every other person I've encountered acts like they are bothered by the customers. There are so many people waiting for tables that there is no room to stand but yet the four tables in front of the waiting area have remained empty and un-bussed for 20 minutes. I've eaten at a lot of steak n shakes throughout the country in my lifetime . This one has the feeling of what it was and what it's supposed to be . This is a newer location but it just feels right ! They are the slowest restaurant. Everytime. I mean EVERYTIME I have to wait 30 FREAKING MINUTES FOR A SALAD! It took two hours to get our food @ the restaurant in Pearl, MS. Then she brought the wrong order on one of our items and when she served the hot dog she held the food against her apron and had to get another. Also, the fries were cold. She said she would give us 50% off our order and did not. It was the worse experience in a Shake n Shake ever. read more

This place is really hit and miss. You come in sometimes and it's fine, no problems. The next time you may spend an hour and a half waiting on food. The general manager is very nice but the wait staff leave a lot to be desired. They don't seem to have any knowledge of how to speak to customers. My first experience with the chain was in South Haven. The one in South Haven is great. The one in Pearl is not so great. I stay in Pearl and I have only eaten here once. Food was terrible and the service was worst. I will travel to South Haven before going back to this once. read more

Really disappointed in the location. The staff are often considerably rude to the customers and fail to greet with a friendly welcome. The recent visit was during an evening Friday rush. A large crowd gathered at the door where the hostess failed to acknowledge a single person for 5 minutes. Instead, she just looked around the restaurant and talked to the other employees without any attention given to the customers entering the facility. If you end up with Kim as your waitress, just turn and walk out. It was 20 minutes before our order was taken and we were greeted with, "are you ready?" She then proceeded to ask repeatedly and look at me as though I was stupid when I said I did not want fries with my order. After 35 minutes of watching countless orders go by and my friend making her stop? our melted milkshakes were delivered. Mine sucked down like milk and had whipped topping even though I requested none and the ticket reflected such. It was a messy ordeal without napkins. The tables beside us had customers come in, order, eat, and leave before our room temperature food was delivered by another waitress. We still had no napkins until asking and having her drop them on our tables and move on. We had an awful experience here today!! Have sick kids and needed something hot and fast, so Steak 'n Shake was the pick. Ordered in drive through fast.......that was the end of the positive and fast. Took almost 30 minutes waiting in line to pay and to receive food (remember we ordered quickly, so only 2 cars in front of us). The wait had everyone on edge, then the girl at the window was the exact opposite of polite. She barely spoke, but had a "tone" when she did and definitely had the attitude all over her facial expressions. Our food was cold....cold fries and cold chicken tenders for the kids and cold fries and cold Cajun burger for me. My drink was supposed to be diet and it wasn't, my burger was so greasy that it made EVERYTHING in the bag greasy....each of the kids items and the napkins. Oh, and in case you don't know, "cajun" means Season All Salt smothering the patty, that's the extent of the cajun and that seasoning isn't very appealing on a good day! Almost $20 thrown away!! Just horrible food and service. Their double steak burger compares to the regular hamburger in a Happy meal at McDonalds. Patties were paper thin and completely over seasoned. No taste but salt. I ordered online to where it would be ready by the time I get there as I understand, because of this Covid that everything is in complete disarray... Well it took forever and the service was very very lousy. Somebody came in and ordered and got their food before I did after waiting 15 minutes already. I asked the girl at the counter as to why he would get his before mine when I was at least 15 to 20 minutes before him? Her reply to me was that they have to take care of the drive-through and the people coming in seating before any online order... now to make matters worse I was on lunch break so I had to leave once they handed me my meal..When I got back to work I realize that they gave me the wrong order. I called back and a lady told me to not worry and that they would put my name up so that when I came back I would get a free meal to replace the one that they messed up. So I called today and told him that I would like to go ahead and receive my meal... after talking to a couple people they tell me that they cannot do it that they have no record of it. Now I eat there all the time, excuse me, I used to eat there all the time I do not plan on going back since they cannot do what they tell me they are going to do... I asked the manager who can I get ahold to correct this issue and he told me that it was not a corporation and that it was a franchise and he did not know who else I can speak to and if there was nobody else to reach... I am very disappointed! I order my food and I specially asked for Swiss cheese instead of American cheese on my burger and the waiter came back with American cheese, I sent it back to correct my order. When the waiter came back they had scrapped of the American cheese because it was still visible off of the incorrect burger and just placed Swiss cheese on top. If I was allergic to American cheese, I would've had an allergic reaction. This is poor customer service and unacceptable. I would never come to this location ever again! read more

I was really excited when I heard we were finally getting a Steak 'n Shake in this area. Our first and probably only visit was last night. I realize it's a new location, but they should be getting the hang of things by now. We sat at the counter and had a first hand view of the kitchen and staff. Several of the staff members were too busy taking selfies and posting to social media as opposed to working. We also witnessed a lot of snacking by the staff as they waited for the orders to be prepared. Maybe they forget that customers can see all of this. The food took a really long time and the burger was extremely overcooked when it arrived. I hope they clean out some of the overstaffing and get the hang of things soon. read more

This is my first time to ever leave a review on a restaurant, a bad one at that. I've been there 2 times for dinner in the past month (which was my first time ever in a steak 'n shake) and I have never experienced such bad service. My mom and I were there last night and we didn't know if we were just suppose to sit down or order at the back counter because nobody was at the front. As we were going to sit down someone came to get us to backtrack us back to the front to tell them how many we had and to be seated. When we were seated, nobody came to our table for 15 min to take our drink order, I then had to get up and go ask if someone was coming. Later, I needed a fork, so I got up to ask for one and the waiter walked right passed me 2 times (trying not to make eye contact with me so he wouldn't have to help me) as he continued to go clean a table as I stood there, I went up to him and asked for my fork. Things like this continued. I hate to even leave a negative review, but the food is so good I want you to thrive in your restaurant, so maybe this can be discussed with the employees and not happen again. Thank you read more

I want to reiterate what Paul said on the 6th...I went there today and saw the DT line wasn't that long, waited about 10 minutes in line and the manager came out and tried to get all the cars to "backup"...mind you everyone is almost bumper to bumper in line, but he wants us to back up so that we can be behind a white line. I understand the need to possibly move some people over to that line, but to try and make a dozen+ cars back up in a small space - REDICULOUS! All I wanted was a butterfinger shake. I left and went to Dairy Queen down the street to get a butterfinger blizzard. Maybe one day I'll be able to taste the shakes that everyone raves about. But probably won't go back in a long while. This place have been pack since the day of opening I have been there a total of 3 times first time I left cause couldn't stand to wait in the drive through any longer after have been waiting an hour so I left decided to try it again stay in line close to an hour and half food was great. My 3rd visit was horrible and poor management skills. I was in drive through an hour and 15 mins before I was able to order when I did get order place waited another 15-20 mins for food pull up from window to check order since they just jam pack everything into one bag none of the 4 double bacon cheeseburgers I had purchase had no bacon on it the girl from drive thru come running out with chicken tenders they forgot to put in my bag. I gave her the bags back told her no bacon was on any burgers she brought out an apologize for that as I'm traveling back home which is an hour away from the city of Pearl we taste the burgers notice they all was cold which should have been hot I immediately got on phone call store told them I just pull off from there an I'm on highway headed back towards my home city Vicksburg he stated that if I bring back they can replace it that's the only way they can do anything need I remind u have sat an hour and half in drive thru just to get waited on and that's the only thing that he could say to me and I'm like 15 mins away to reach an exit just to turn around to come back no sorry no apology the only thing bring back never will I return again due to that treatment. The food is great and at a reasonable price I spent $34 on food that was cold except for fries and chicken tenders I feel like they could have done a lot better when getting orders in and out and correct at least serve hot food especially when customers have to wait an hour and longer to get serve. read more
