At the window, the woman looked angry and wasn't very pleasant. When I got home, I had a cheddar burger, fries, 4 small onion rings and no banana pudding shake. I had a soft drink instead. I have been a longtime fan of Cookout, but had not been to one in awhile. I was in Jackson, Mississippi on business and grabbed a small chili cheeseburger and a hot dog with chili, coleslaw and onions and was disappointed with both. I don't know if it was this particular location or if the company is losing quality control as they grow. The small burger, which was about three dollars, was tiny. It was almost as if there was no burger in there at all. The hot dog should have finely chopped onions, but instead got thick slices. The young man at the takeout window was friendly enough and from the outside, the location looked inviting enough (I only drove through the takeout aisle, so I cannot judge the ambiance of the place). Majorly Yummy! This fast food restaurant seems to be a favorite of Southerners. However, this location just opened. I drove up and there were several folks inside, so I opted for the drive thru. The menu board caused a bit of confusion initially. Maybe it was merely because I wasn't familiar with the menu. There are lots of choices to satisfy everyone. They have char-grilled hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, quesadillas, hot dogs, chicken strips, and barbeque sandwiches. The menu keeps going with combos that come with a choice of two sides; and there are tens of milkshake choices to choose from. I had heard so much about the scrumptious food that I ordered two different sandwiches to try. The barbeque sandwich was amazing, and so was the "Cook Out style" burger, which has an interestingly delicious combination of chili, cole slaw, mustard, onions and cheese. It was mouthwatering! Before I say anything, the food here is great. The problem I have is with the employees. I usually go around 9-12pm and I consistently get the worst service. Also sometimes they make up rules about cookout sauce that which infuriates me. The rule is that you get one cookout sauce per tray in an order, but there seems to be some disconnect sometimes as I have been told that you have to pay extra for it and then I've been told that you only get it when you get a tray that comes with chicken nuggets or tenders. This is a typical fast food restaurant. The service was FRIENDLY and quick! The menu items were plentiful and typically priced for a fast food restaurant. But... First there is not a kids mea! So I has to order the small tray and two sides and medium/large drink. Too much food for a toddler but that was the cheapest thing to order for a smaller burger. I don't know why a fast food restaurant doesn't have a children's meal but moving on. Second - the food was typical burger, fries, and we had the chicken nuggets and cheddar rounds in our side options. The Burger taste like a whopper, it's got the Char-grilled flavor. The fries were thick cut and salted well (not too much) but bland. They didn't taste like real potatoes but those cheap potato and starch mashed fries you buy on sale at a discount grocery. The cheddar rounds didn't have a sharp cheddar kick so I assume it's made with some sort of mild cheddar blend. The chicken nuggets were typical nuggets, same as every other typical chicken nugget. At the rate Burger King is going bcuz there employees don't pay attention, they gone end up with some hefty law suits die to contamination of food, and food allergies. When I order burgers from them or any sandwiches if I ask for no pickles or no onions it's bcuz who I'm buying it for can't have that on there but one of these days someone eats a sandwich with certain things they asked to not be on there it's gone be hell!!!!!And for the record I hope someone with common sense who works for the company explains to the food preps and cooks if any certain food goes on a sandwich and thenu take it off it can still cause allergic reaction. Although the drive thru line was to the street, I was in and out with my food in 8 minutes. Service was friendly. Order was corre Food: I got a double burger with EVERYTHING. The first bite I was like.. kinda like Burger King. 2nd bite I was like.. nah more like Backyard Burger. By the 3rd bite I was like it's a baby Stamp Burger (almost not quite) a tad more seasoning would've been cool. But otherwise, it's a decent fast food burger. I got onion rings for one of my sides. They are just frozen onion rings, kind of slightly sweet but not too sweet. The taste are similar to Burger King's onion rings but better. The quesadilla was my second side. It was really thin, taste like a cheese roll up from Taco Bell. But they were cool for the price. It also came with a large drink. All for $5.98!!!! I will definitely be back. The kids and they were working very hard and moved quickly on filling our orders. I had onion rings with my burger and it was nice that they actually had onions inside of them and tasted great. That's not always the case. The tables were all clean and the restaurant was Easy to find a nice location to sit. We each ordered a shake and the funny thing of that was to not expect to get it through a straw. Not a huge dining area but we were able to find a place to sit on a busy Saturday afternoon. Before coming we didn't realize they had a drive-thru so that was really good to know for future visits.
