Everyone who works at this Steak 'n Shake is extremely over worked and under paid. They bust their butts every day and their upper management does nothing for them. They're never good enough in their eyes. I've seen and/or heard the way the mangers talk to their employees and it's absolutely degrading. The only reason I give a 4 star is because I'm a regular for years and years who talks the them and sees what they do for this company. Their food is good, and their servers a great. But however some of their management are rude and mean. The store is understaffed which means your service isn't always great because they'll have 12 tables to take care of. I will still go because I love the servers but it's gone down hill past couple years. read more

I'd give a one but the food was okay. Cooks seemed to be working their ass off. There was two waitress one was always seeming to do drinks and the other one looked at me as she was waiting tables I stood at the front door for what seemed like forever and no one would say just a moment or antthing. Finally we sat down on our own at the bar the waitress that works with only the drive through kept walking by glancing at us. Like she was trying to avoid the front and only do window. The manager finally asked if we got our order taken yet and then he said as soon as he was done cashing out a guest he would help us. Well next thing u know he is sitting guests. Next thing you know it's been 20 minutes. I would ha e left but it's really the only thing open this late. After about a half an hour they finally took my order. Well that is just the beginning. Then I overheard the manager tell the waitress that he had to by a table because the order was wrong and it took to long. Then he said he didn't care he had all the other tables. But luckily are food came out right and with in the window of ordering. Didn't care for the herb fries it's like they just dumped a while container of oregano over dry fried that were Luke warm. Never been to steakn shake here I'm from Washington. But other then it being a good burger and shake. The name stands for its self. U get a steak and shake nothing more. This store has horrible service. Car in front of us sent food and drinks back TWICE!!!! This is unfortunately the way it usually is. SLOW service, wrong items cooked, my burger was mushy, fries not fresh and my malt was lie drinking milk it was so tjin, such a disappointment. Where is the Manager!? read more

Nastiest Steak 'n Shake I've ever been to! If I could give zero stars I would! First off it was VERY NASTY inside, we looked pasted that as a bad night and placed our order. Next we had to kill a roach at our booth, still we're like gross but ok it's Florida, it's rained a lot it could happen. But after we sat there for over 45 minutes waiting for our food to come we watched several tables come in after us, place their orders and get their food, some even finished and paid their bills. So we finally said enough is enough and asked for a manager, we told him how we had been sitting there forever watched people come and go and even killed a roach at our booth and the manager said NOTHING other than where are you sitting? Not ONE sorry and then another waitress said "I didn't even know they placed an order" like really? That doesn't help your case cause now you admitted to not paying attention to the costumers in the restaurant, even other costumers who were finished with their food said we were there BEFORE them and still nothing from the manager, so we had to leave. My husband and I stopped at this location on our way home from Orlando late tonight. If you are hungry do yourself a favor and keep driving to Gainesville. There were numerous people working and most were standing around talking. We waited for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. When we were finally seated the table was dirty. Again we waited for a long period of time before someone took our order. There was another group of customers that came in after us and ending up leaving before their order was taken. During the entire visit multiple staff members sat at the counter and proceeded to talk about another employee using very foul language. The worst part is that the night manager was sitting right there with them. Our poor waitress, Chezzra, seemed to be the only one actually working. She was waiting tables and being cashier all while her manager sat around talking. Customers are definitely not the priority at this location but if you are looking for some interesting night life this is the place for you. You can even wear your slippers as many of the staff do. We definitely will not be back to this location. read more

The service at this location is HORRIBLE! This is unfortunate as I've enjoyed the Steak 'n Shake restaurant in many other locations. The store is only a few miles from my house and after three visits, I have yet to have a good experience. They are extremely slow to greet, food is served cold, and you have to ask for your server. VERY SLOW TO SEAT YOU!!! Service was also slow. We love S&S but this site is terrible and the manager on duty seems to care less

So we pull up to the drive thu and order 5 milkshakes. As we pay for them it is requested that someone write the flavors of the milkshakes. The drive-thru attendant (who needs a serious attitudinal adjustment) says "yeah we'll mark them for you". Five minutes later she begins handing me shakes... again with the attitude. Telling me the flavor of each unmarked shake. I ask for a cup holder. She closes the window and comes back a few minutes later and says "we don't have any cup holders right now". I asked her well how would you suggest I get 5 shakes home with no cup holder? She says "I do not know". I requested my money back and told them to take back the one shake that I had been given. Again she closes the window and comes back a couple of minutes later and asks "so you want your money back" I said yes I do. She tells me to pull up because the manager was busy at the front of the store with other customers. I pulled up to the front and walked in and got my money back. I vow to never return to this store again and advise anyone reading this to not even waste their time or money patronizong this location. read more

if I could give negative stars I would. First off manager is a joke. She does nothing but get in the way I was in the restaurant industry for 5 years and iv never seen such slow unorganized teamwork and its because the manager should have never been hired as a manager, no sir it was not rush hour when it took an hour to get our food. my father didn't get his soup he ordered till after he was leaving and they still charged him and my husband never got the milkshake he ordered. The busboy however was super sweet and very personable he would have made a better manager than her. We tried speaking to the head person who never called us after they said we would get a call within 48 hours. the only person I felt sorry for was our waitress who did the best she could in the environment she was given. The location in Ocala just off I-75 is horrible. We stopped in about 2:30 on 1/6/2018. We did not get a chance to even be seated, but this review is about other things than food. We walked in and there were 4 or 5 folks standing at the front. I thought they were waiting to check out, apparently not the case. There were 6 empty tables/booths in this restaurant, but yet we were totally ignored upon our entering the restaurant. Floors were nasty and the whole place seemed dumpy. A lady came in behind us and asked if we had put our name on the "list". I asked what list and she said to be seated. WHAT? A list to be seated in a fast food place? Maybe if there were no empty tables, but there were several empty tables/booths. I said the heck with this and we left. Totally not worth the wait at this dumpy location. We went under the freeway a bit to Freddy's. Short wait to order, burger and fries were delish. A couple dollars more than Steak N Shake but well worth it. read more

Terrible service. Awful. No matter what time you go you will wait 20 minutes minimum for fast food quality and no guarantee it will not still be cold. After 4 or 5 visits not once has my order been correct. I've been the only customer in the place and never saw my waitress again after bringing out the food. Never again. read more

Simply the worst Steak N' Shake I have ever been to. I go to Steak N' Shakes all the time because I travel a lot and I like Steak and Shake. The service was HORRIBLE. There were 8 workers present in the whole place(I counted) and they all had a bad attitude. I could hear other waitresses making rude remarks and treating customers badly. The restaurant was almost empty except for 5 other people(not counting my family of 4) and the service was still slow. It took about 15-20 minutes for my food to come out. All of the fries( and my macaroni and cheese) were cold. I asked the waitress if I could have hot fries(I didn't even bother about the macaroni) and she sighed, rolled her eyes, and walked away. About 5 minutes later, she came back, practically slammed the plate of fries on the table and said "Here are your fries." Guess who only got a $3 tip that day. After my food was finished, I ordered two milkshakes, and as soon as I got therm I was out the door with $22 laying on the table. Horrible experience. read more

Food is good but service is awful! 5 minutes to be seated in a half empty restaurant, 3 more to get a high chair. 10 minutes for my kids shake. Poor kid looked hopeful anytime a shake was delivered anywhere in the place! And did I mention I had to get up to get a kids menu because we were never given one? Sad. I like the food but no way you can bring a kid here and expect them not to go crazy before the food is brought out. read more

Extremely dirty facility, unorganized, waited forever to be seated, over half the tables were not cleaned off and unoccupied, once seated took 10 minutes to take our order. VERY UNHAPPY with the service at Steak 'n Shake on College Rd. tonight. I took my family there tonight to treat them. After waiting for 5-10 minutes to be seated in a mostly dead restaurant, I was served sweet tea with a bug in it. I got a replacement, and continued waiting for our meal. My husband ordered salad to come before his meal, and a chocolate milkshake to come when we left. He was able to eat about 2 bites of his salad before his meal came. We decided not to make a big deal about it, and started to eat. After our food was delivered, the waitress came by to tell us that she was leaving, and that was the only time the wait staff came over. When we were done, I went up to the register to pay. I had to wait 5 minutes for the cashier to even acknowledge me. When I gave her a coupon for a BOGO on a certain milkshake, she tried to tell me that I had only ordered a chocolate milkshake. I had to say that I wanted 3 total milkshakes for her to understand. Then, 2 separate parties came and ordered after me got their items first!! Every time I asked about my order I was told "it's coming." I waited almost 25 minutes from the order went in until I got my milkshakes. Then the cashier felt that it was no big deal. Well, for my autistic son who had to wait forever felt that it was a big deal. I will be reporting this to your corporate office. I would report it to the managers that were there tonight, but they were standing behind the cashier BSing about something or other, and laughing. read more
