I grew up in Ocala and have not been back to this Steak n Shake in a very long time. It was nice to be back here again, there are not many of these where I am. You order through a kiosk so you rarely interact with people there unless they are handing you your food, the drink station is also self served. This was nice, but we came when a lot of people were coming in and there are only 4 or 5 kiosks, so ordering can take some time if there are people exploring a lot on the tablets and deciding what they want. The service was very quick, I ordered the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken tenders were okay, and the fries were pretty good. My food was not that warm when I got it, so if it was fresh I think it would have tasted a bit better. But otherwise, everything was what I expected. The place seemed pretty clean as well and the retro seating is always nice, its good to see that that hasn't changed.

I went through the drive-thru and received great customer service from the woman who took my order. It was quick and the food was hot. There's not much to say about this visit because it was quick. But, as long as you get your food hot and the customer service is on point then everything is A OK with me.

We were so grateful Steak & Shake was open so late. We were driving from St. Petersburg to Jacksonville. We stopped in Ocala to eat. Just off SW College Rd. Every other restaurant was closed. The lobby was 10 people deep. The drive thru was full as well. We were patient because we were hungry. Hubby ordered the Frisco Melt with Fries and a regular Kit Kat Shake. I ordered the kids chicken fingers with fries and Hi-C. Great thing is that they cook the food to order. It was hot. The FF were really small. Luckily, I don't eat French Fries so Hubby had enough. We sat in the parking lot enjoying our dinner. Thanks for serving us

Service was EXTREMELY slow and the food was mediocre. Seems like a chain in need of direction. Apparently the night we were there the shake machine was only manned by one employee and all the shakes were backed up over 45 min. When the staff was asked about it by multiple patrons dining in, the response was they have to make shakes for the drive through customers too. When paying the bill I took a look at the kitchen area and was shocked at how dirty it was. If I had seen it before sitting I would have walked out Would not go back again or recommend anyone go there.

Dry, bacon cheese burger. It's supposed to be a garlic double burger with bacon, cheese, pickles, and onions.

I quite liked this place. I was visiting the area from out of town and someone recommended this…read moreplace, particularly the steaks, and since it was near my hotel, I decided to give it a go. I really liked that they have this big drop down screen that converts the bar area into a sort of covered patio area that lets the breeze in while the fans do their thing. It turns this sports vibe type place into a more at home type backyard bbq with friends type feel. I really liked that. It felt like a tgifridays at first but the patio-ish area makes it stand out from other chains like that. Maybe it was the fact that I had been traveling all day and had barely eaten, or that I had a killer blood-sugar dropping headache, but I thought the food was killer. I ordered the steak and dozen fried shrimp combo which came with 20 shrimp. Awesome! I ordered the broccoli and mashed potatoes with gravy and everything was awesome. I loved the butter on the steak, made everything just taste rich and delicious because you had better believe I do not cook with that much butter at my house. But for a special treat while traveling, it was delicious. The shrimp were perfectly fried and some of them were rubbing up against the butter so thy were delicious too. I ate them first so they didn't have time to get soggy. The mashed potatoes were red potatoes with just the perfect amount of skin still on and chunks still in it and I loved the gravy. And the broccoli was also delicious, also cooked with butter and not just boring and bland. Definitely not the healthiest of meals considering, but not the worst option either. Definitely couldn't eat here all the time without my waist complaining, but I was very happy and so was my belly and head. The service was pretty nice too, the people were all lovely. I will definitely be back when I have been really good and deserve a cheat day, there is a ton more stuff on the menu I want to try.

We made a stop on a Monday late afternoon. We were seated right away…read more Food was great overall. Chicken was slightly saltier than I would like it to be but overall flavor was good. It's a great place to watch sports and enjoy food.

Stopped by District Bar and Kitchen for a late lunch/early dinner on a beautiful spring day…read more The temperature outside was pleasant and so my dining companion and I opted for lunch on their patio. We were on their bottom floor patio (which was lovely) but I did spy that they have a rooftop patio as well (what's not to love?!?). Everything from the food to the cocktails to the service was exemplary. For my cocktail I got their Old Colonel's Smoking Gun which was their twist on an old fashioned and was delightful. For my entree, I got their salmon entree. It's glazed and comes with a size of their crispy brussels and cheesy grits. The brussels were delish and their cheesy grits rank among some of the best I've had with sharp cheddar giving them the perfect flavor kick. The atmosphere was so pleasant. It's definitely the sort of spot you'll feel tempted to linger. Get to it!

We enjoyed a nice meal here while visiting my mom and sister in Ocala. Good comfort style food…read moreofferings and friendly attentive service. Large location with plenty of tables. Even on a crowded Saturday evening the wait was not that long and we were given a nice booth table for our group. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time. Chicken, fish, salads, veggies, and those yummy honey butter croissants. Decent enough portions for the price and delicious. Also, there was a mistake with one of our orders and the server quickly took care of the problem and replaced it.

Will not be back anytime soon. This was our second visit after a year, hoping things had improved…read more We had a new waitress, and while it's not her fault--she clearly hasn't been properly trained--the service was very disorganized. Orders were entered incorrectly, and even after correcting them, they took my husband's plate twice. He had already finished his meal by the time they brought out the missing shrimp. The honey croissants were forgotten after we asked for them. They came out and looked like they were under baked. No one came by to apologize, nothing was adjusted on our bill, and no one checked in to see if we wanted dessert. We only came because we had a gift card, but I can confidently say we won't be returning. Very disappointing experience.
