The hash brown pancake that came with the meal was only lightly browned on one side, the other side was uncooked and looked like they didn't even try. The worst fast food restaurant that I have EVER been to. We ask for three simple orders in the drive thru and ended up getting a whole lot of mistakes. Didn't grill the onions, burgers were cold, fries weren't seasoned after we asked, no utensils for the coleslaw, and they didn't even put the chicken fingers in the bag!!! We had to go back which not to mention the in-convince of how to actually get into the parking lot, horrible thought out drive thru. Had to get them to fix it, it took them 10 min to fix it and then when we got it back they didn't even fix the problems and everything was still cold. Manager, Tracy Puch, was not helpful and was really unprofessional. All in all, we spent almost 40 minutes trying to go fast food. Made me rethink ever going back to Steak 'n Shake. - one really pissed off customer! Please I beg all of you do not go here. Save your selves from the agony! read more

This pertains to the Government St. location in Mobile, Alabama. The fries and chili were not hot when received them. The service was the worst I have ever experienced. Was not asked about my experience when I checked out - had to ask them if they wanted to know. Was told management had discussed with the waiter the complaints and were working with him. This was our first visit to a Steak 'n Shake and everything about it was amazing! We're visiting from California and every staff member that we interacted with was so friendly and helpful! The place was packed packed when we got here and empty when we left. The burgers were OK, but the shakes are a different story! They were both really watery (like a large glass of mostly melted ice cream). When we asked about the watery shakes we were told that we needed to order them and ask for them to be THICK. So. It's about 2:30pm on a Sunday and we enter the restaurant. It's not even half full of customers, so it's not busy. There appears to be about 5 servers running around. We are seated quickly and the waitress comes to us quickly. We place our order (milkshakes and fries). She leaves and returns about 5 minutes with our fries and said our shakes would be out shortly. We have no napkins, no silverware, and run out of sauce, and still no shakes. After about 15 minutes we finally caught another waitress and she went to check on it. Finally our shakes arrive with no straws, silverware or napkins. We asked for these items and she returns only to drop the single fork she brought. And instead of giving us the napkins as she goes to get another fork. We wait yet again. She returns with the fork and leaves. We don't see her again until she brings the check. As we sat there we noticed that most of the employees were just walking around with their cell phones or talking to one another. We noticed that one employee went the restroom no less than 5 times while we sat there. Every time her phone was in her face. 10/10 will not return. read more

If you want a tasty, but cheap burger and fries...this is your place! I have tried lots of their burgers and haven't been disappointed yet. Their fries are thinly cut and crispy which is just how I like them. The milkshakes are so rich and I really enjoyed the vanilla! They typically always have coupons too so you can get a very filling and satisfying meal for 2 people for less than $15! Also the waitresses are always polite and friendly. read more

Love this place. Very family friendly and easy on the wallet. Family loves the shakes. Burgers are great and I love the buns. I usually get the fries seasoned. I usually get Vanilla Coke Zero. They have all kinds of flavors of burgers. My favorite is the BBQ western bacon burger. read more

No complaints on the food (nacho cheese double steak burger and the grilled cheese steakburger) or shakes (mint/Oreo and white chocolate) we got.. The waitress (Chrissy) we had was less than satisfactory however. I just cannot with them any longer. I used to LOVE this place, and it hurts my heart. I keep trying to go back after a long break each time, and I just have to stop. I have had sub par food several times! Hair in my husband's food. Rarely do they get an order wrong I will say that, but don't be in any kind of hurry. It takes me about 3-5 min to get there from my job depending on the red light. Today I used OVER 30 mins of my lunch to get food from them. Now they had 3 cars in the drive through, and not a full diner. There was NO reason to take this long, and then my food was not even good. The fries were SO salty they gave my tongue a salt burn or something. I love salt, seriously eat it all by it self, but could not finish my fries. My patties were so much smaller than the bun, and were very hard. I threw away about the last 3 bites of the already small burger away because it was not worth even eating. This has left me feeling hungry after my lunch (and yes it has been over the recommended 20 min wait time after I eat). This place is not worth it any longer. If their food made it worth the wait I would wait. I get fresh cooked, in front my eyes. food made from Five Guys in less time than it takes to get these thin patty burgers and shoe string fries from here. I will gladly pay the price difference for better food and service elsewhere. Oh and I contacted the 877 number this time versus the local manager. Just left this restaurant and my family and I were not pleased. Our server Alexis was doing her best but there's only so much one person can handle. Nearly all of her coworkers weren't working. My food came out hot 5 minutes before my family's came out cold. The mac and cheese even had a film over the top. We mixed it up and it wasn't much better. My mother was the only one to send her food back but even the recook came back out cold. She also never got her soup. When we went to pay, our server went to get the manager to take off the soup but he sent her back out with his card. I had to ask her to go back and get him so I could see if he knew about his restaurant's work ethic. While I waited, I noticed the prep cook talking while the food he was supposed to be preparing was just sitting there and the floor in the kitchen was filthy. I explained to the manager all of this and he didn't look like he cared about what I was saying at all. He nodded his head and gave me the excuse "We just finished a big pop." Which I understand, I'm a manager of one of the highest income restaurants in mobile. It's not an excuse for employees to stop doing their jobs. If the manager had acted like someone who cared about his establishment I would have been easily placated and left it at simply a bad day. But a manager that doesn't care is the absolute worst thing for a business. Until that changes, I don't recommend going. But Alexis? You were great. Thank you. read more
