I placed a lunch order directly from the steak and shake app. Upon review of my email confirmation I noticed the address only captured the zip code so I called the store in an attempt to correct before the delivery. The nice gentleman took down my address and said he had never seen that. Right afterwards I received a callback from a lady explaining her employee was not allowed to change the address and that she could see an address. When I asked her to confirm it was mine she gave an address totally not connected to me, not listed on my account, and said that's where it would be delivered. I explained to her that my card had been charged for this purchase and delivering to that address would not be me. She was unconcerned so I asked how could I cancel and she said there was no way to do so. They took my order and delivered God knows where with me taking care of the bill. I now have to dispute the charge. This was horrible customer service and poor leadership as her employee tried to correct but she made a judgment call that will prevent me from ever ordering there again. Well first off I placed an order on DoorDash thinking my food would be nice and hot but all I received was disappointment. When receiving my order I noticed that the burger had onions on it when I put no onions on the order, then I didn't receive my drink that I paid for and the fries were cold. I didn't think my experience would be like this after I ordered from this place so many different times and I haven't received anything like this. The atmosphere is depression. No one speaks or looks at you. Your only option to order is a kiosk and u ask a question,they dont answer. You have to serve ur own drinks with a barcode and even after scanning barcode, drink wont dispence and have to wait for manager to turn on. They do not apologize or show thoer faces. Today I had one of the best steak 'n shake experiences of my life. This was my first time visiting one that had the self-service ordering kiosks but they were super nice and easy to use, plus multiple staff members asked if we needed help. Linda brought us our meals and was overall so kind and helpful and pleasant! Our food came out quickly and correctly as well. There was an issue with an incredibly rude customer who caused a scene and the staff handled it so well, then came around and apologized on his behalf (something that was totally unnecessary) but they were so professional about it. All around this team was so wonderful and we will be happily returning soon. read more

There are not that many customers in here and yet the employees are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I feel like I'm on the old "I Love Lucy" show. We waited 15 minutes to be seated and there was no one else to be seated. Three people came to our table before our order was actually taken. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing. Don't EVER go late at night during the week. Food is always POOR thru the drive thru. Several times I have had stale food. I work late and when I get home at 5:00 AM Ido not want to go back because my sandwich is cold and crusty. Frys are old and sometimes so old they snap like potato chips. I complained several times to several people but can't seem to get thru to the manager or corporate office. No wonder I see food thrown all over the parking lot by the drive thru and the street. I went through the drive thru last night 7/27/18 only to wait 17 minutes to even give my order. When I gave my order the person in the drive thru kept interrupting me as I gave my order to what I wanted on my sandwich to ask what I wanted to drink. I said, no drinks. I had to repeat my order three times. When I finally got to the window, he told me my total (I knew it wasn't enough for what i had ordered) so i asked him what he had for me. I once again had to tell him my order. I finally get my food and go home. I had ordered a dbl with cheese everything no onion, i got a plain dbl (was so smashed down it looked like a single) with nothing on it, plain! My other sandwich was a dbl bacon n cheese with onion, pickles and tomato, it had just onion on it. They gave us no spoons nor crackers for our chili and no napkins. When i tried to call and complain the phone just rang all three times i tried to call. Very horrible experience. Waited at door over 10 minutes to be seated in a 20% full restaurant. Waitress showed no desire to work. Glass was dirty. Customers had to yell at waitresses across the restaurant to get service. Waitresses started verbally arguing with each other over a broken cellphone that had no place being at a waitress station. I had never heard of Steak n Shake and everyone I was with was really excited about its name because they even made a little shake dance...so we went... It's a full-service fast food joint...you get what you expect and it's pretty tasty. Diner food, nothing more, nothing less. For some reason, I always feel pretty lucky because we get ok service and each time we've gone, there has been a problem at a neighboring table with screwed up orders or waitress complaints. Steak n shake is greasy but delicious. They have a ton of burger combinations, crispy thin fries, and several milkshake combinations. The prices are cheap and the service is usually pretty fast. I highly recommend the Frisco Melt and banana milkshake. read more

Tonight was it though, there was literally one other person in the drive through besides me and it still took over 30 minutes for two burgers and fries. I have been to this location multiple times and the food was usually average but sometimes the service was just plain weird. Sometimes when I would get their shakes they would taste like they were mixed with a different shake. I don't even have to ask how this could happen because I know why. Some of their employees aren't cleaning the shake blades after each use (I worked at Dairy Queen as a teenager so I know why a chocolate shake might taste like banana.). The one time I asked them to remake a shake after I tasted it because of this problem, I got an attitude that made me feel like I was the one with the problem. The final straw was when I tried to order a cheesy cheddar (a double steakburger with cheese melting down the sides) with just extra ketchup and no tomato or lettuce. The man talking through the box clearly didn't like that I wanted a menu item modified, and that was apparent when I pulled up to the window. Ah great, look who it is. If you frequent this Steak n' Shake at night, you will sometimes be met with this speedy older man who speaks a mile a minute (he is probably on meth -- no, really). He had a few choice words for me about my order, but whatever, I just really needed lots of meat and cheese that night. 15min later I had arrived home, pulled out my burger, and this guy had the audacity to give me a burger with a tiny pool of cheese in the center. Not to mention the customer service, our waitress came to our table once to take our order & once for a drink refill. Our food was brought out by an entirely different person. My chili came out slow and cold, and the restaurant was not even busy. We had to ask for silverware and ended up snagging ketchup from a different table. I have been to and loved this establishment for years, but recently 9/10 times I go there I am met with attitude and poor service by the girls in the drive thou. On one occasion they even spent the time while I waited for my food cursing and calling me foul names, within ear shot, and then continued to give me the incorrect order and attitude when I asked for the items that were left out. I've complained to many managers about these teenagers and nothing seems to come from it. Today I received my side of dipping sauce in the most childish and inappropriate way. I'm baffled and appalled that this type of behavior is tolerated at an establishment that at one time way one of my favorite places to spend my money.
