Paul Miller and Statewide Animal Control are wonderful people.
Many years ago, my sister enticed a homeless, feral cat to live with her in the various apartments where she lived. When my sister's body was discovered on November 4 in her most recent apartment, the big question after the initial shock was "What do we do about the cat?"
No one I knew was interested in adoption (see below)
Many hours were spent on the phone with various agencies, both governement and not, with zero help. This cat did not have the ability to be rehomed:
1. It hissed and growled even when you talked sweetly to it.
2. It knew nothing about a litter box, using the apartment for that purpose. Even the medical examiner's office said there were feces all over the apartment.
3. We thought there was a nasty growth on the cat's back, though it was difficult to confirm, as the cat would run away as soon as you came within 10 feet of it.
Paul was the only one who could help. He captured the cat and took it to a vet for evaluation.
I was overwhelmed trying to clean out my sister's apartment, as she was also a hoarder with over 75 boxes of junk dating back more than 50 years. Her life had been a miserable and sad one due to her mental illness. Paul was one bright light of help in a very difficult situation.
I will be forever grateful for his assistance.
He cares a LOT about the animals he encounters and wants what is best for them. He is professional in all his communications and is NOT someone you have to hound to know what is going on or what to do. He has done this work for a long time.
There are not enough words to exress my gratitude for his help. read more
