Benny, our 7 year old schnoodle and the perfect dog. He's the best part about our family.
Catharine Y.

My boyfriend adopted our dog from K9 angels rescue, and we would gladly do it again. I like K9 because they vaccinate, spay/neuter, and train the dogs. The foster parents are fantastic, and the dog is well trained by the foster parents. As a first time dog owner, I really appreciate that they have experienced dog parents to first help train and raise the dog. It's also comforting and reassuring to know that the dog is already properly vaccinated and spayed/neutered. The other 1-star reviews honestly sound like entitlement, where people didn't get the exact dog they wanted at the exact time when they wanted him/her. K9 angels rescue - a nonprofit, volunteer based organization - has high standards in who they let adopt their dogs, and it's their choice how they want to allow their dogs to be adopted. There are other organizations / shelters around Houston filled to the brim with adoptable dogs. If you can't find the right fit at K9 angels rescue, I encourage you to visit the other shelters too.

Angel and Roscoe! Adopted from K-9 Angels. They're adorable.

We were looking for a pair of dogs and saw K-9 Angels listings online. What is nice about this rescue is: they have an adoption center in Houston where all the adoptable dogs come on the weekends, and there are set hours when you can meet the dogs. This is much better and easier than trying to coordinate with different foster families to go visit in their home or have them come to yours. K-9 Angels doesn't send the pups home with you the day you meet them and fill out the application, which is also good. They evaluate the applications during the week, and tell you by the following Friday if you are approved to adopt. This helps them be sure the right applicant is getting the right dog. We were able to meet both dogs and play with them together in a visiting room, which showed us they weren't incompatible, and the next weekend we were able to take them both home. They are healthy and have their microchips (which you can register and the monitoring is free for the first year). They are adjusting to living together and with us and are adorable, happy dogs. We love them! Thanks K-9 Angels for rescuing them and sending them home with us!

Since we arrived at the facility, everyone's very nice and helpful. We registered online 2 days prior for a dog that we saw online but he already got adopted. We look around and the place is clean and all the volunteers are very friendly too. Fast forward, we came back home and brought our dog to see if he is getting along with the potential new addition. The registration lady is very very nice. She gave us lots of information Since Jason is a heartworm positive, they covered the medication for a year. We are glad that our Teddy is getting along very good with our new Jason. We are very happy with our decision. Jason is a great new addition to our little family. Thank you so much for the foster moms and Volunteers at K9 angels. We love our Jason, we are so lucky to have him.

I found our newest fur baby through K-9 Angels. I really like how their application asks about everything, very thorough! The truly care who their rescues are going up and the rescues all seemed to be well taken care of by their fosters. Thank you K-9 Angels. Nala (a.k.a. Arona) is doing well and we couldn't be happier to have her as part of our family!!

We adopted Antoinette, now named Winnie, 1 week ago today & love her so much!!! The communication beforehand with Christine & Haley was fantastic! They patiently answered all of my many questions helping us make the decision that she would be a good fit in our family! I love that the dogs live in loving foster homes during the week where they can socialize & acclimate to living in a home & then go to the adoption center on the weekends. Thank you so much to all of the wonderful volunteers who are so passionate helping these animals find loving, forever homes! We are discovering that Winnie is a sun worshipper...

I adopted 2 dogs from Houston K-9 Angels Rescue. I can not say enough about the hood people of this rescue and volunteers. My two are precious and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing me to adopt these babies

Great staff. They care deeply about the welfare of the animals they're looking after / adopting out. We were happy with the process / vetting. We came away with an amazing new addition to our family.

Great people that care about getting dogs in a home. We adopted Jet (formerly Chaparro) and the staff at the rescue center were very knowledgeable and really committed to get all dogs into the right home. We had our eye on this little guy from their website and went in and were able to adopt him that weekend. The application process is easy but they do review to make sure they are going to a good home. They also make sure to educate you on what your puppy needs to be healthy and not catch a terrible disease. After adopting our puppy we had to come back to finish off his shots. Since he came from a foster home (as most dogs from here do) he came pretty much socialized and mostly potty trained. Here we are a few months later and I'm very happy we were able to adopt this little guy. Really glad he didn't end up on the street or at another shelter that might have had to put him down.

K9 Angles is such an amazing place and a blessing to me and my husbands life. They have a wonderful staff that work to place you with the right fur baby. We had just lost our little man Hudson suddenly to kidney failure and our hearts were so broken. We saw Cracklin who we renamed Indy for Indiana Jones and he spoke to our hearts. We went to visit him on a Saturday and our hearts just melted. I love how the staff take the time to interview you and call your vet. We got an email a few days later letting us know that Indy was coming home with us. K9 Angles is so amazing they are truly invested in helping all their fur babies find loving forever homes and get the immunizations they need so they get off to a healthy start. Please come here and find your fur baby. Our heart is full of joy once again

Mr Hops & Puddin -- adopted Mr. Hops in April and he's renewed Puddin's interest in everything. thanks K-9 Angels

My husband and I lost one of our sweet cockapoos, Mocha, on March 25. She was "only" 11, and we'd been through so much with her, including back surgery. We still miss her three months later, but one of the hardest parts was how much her packmate, Puddin, suffered. She seemed depressed and not even interested in food. What made K-9 Angels so special was that they allowed us to introduce Puddin to any rescue we considered. My husband and Puddin chose a different dog than any of us expected. "Mr. Hops" (renamed from Chirp) is our first male dog in 25 years and very different from our cockapoos, but that is working out great. His energy has renewed Puddin's interest in longer walks, playing, and being more active. We're thankful that K-9 Angels exists and fosters these dogs so carefully. Mr. Hops is already a treasured member of our family. Please consider adopting from K-9 Angels. They do everything to make adoption easy, including neutering and heartworm care. The saddest thing to us is that such wonderful dogs are suffering with heartworms and lacking homes.

My best friend from K-9 Angels Rescue!

I love my puppy that I adopted here in 2016. He was well taken care of and came with all of his first year shots paid for upon adopting. They also have free spay and neuter when adopting. Their prices are fair and the facility is very clean. The people in charge are extremely friendly and animal lovers! I will definitely adopt from here in the future and recommend everyone does.

The organization is amazing. Do not hesitate to support, foster or adopt! The care from their volunteers is what an angel is.

What comes before Part-B? PART-AYY!!! This partay just happened to be the largest outdoor cocktail…read moreparty in Texas. BOTB has been around in Houston for 37 years now. I only just learned about it this year and wish I had been let in on the secret earlier since this was one heck of a party. Though I would not have been legally old enough to drink at all of those parties. However BOTB had generously funded a large grant to the nonprofit I serve on the board of, so I was more than happy to volunteer my time to help them out at their party to thank them for their generosity. I figured they were going to have me greet people at the gate or something since I am such a people-person, but they actually paid for me to attend a TABC certification class before the event and then put me to work as a volunteer bartender for a few hours - letting me check out the event as a non-volunteer private citizen when I was not pouring up drank. I have more than 20 years in the volunteer game - (and I know volunteering is not all about 'me') but I have never been treated better as a volunteer. BOTB occupied the entire outside Wortham area downtown, mostly headquartered in the Fish Plaza area. The front gate on Smith locked down entrance so IDs could be checked and only 21+ year old people were allowed in through the one controlled point of entry. The side of Fish Plaza running along Texas Ave had gates up also (and the high dollar donor area was along a large part of the gate anyway) so there was strong security in place. As my uber driver was crawling along Texas Ave to drop me off we could hear the loud music from a few blocks away. Party time, alright! While other people were spending their Easter Sunday in church or in quiet contemplation still drunk in a Tim Horton's parking lot this was the alternative: loud music, big crowds, and flowing drinks of vodka, rum, whiskey, gin, and beer types. Pretty much everything sensible you need for day drinking except Jägerbombs. What is BOTB? (From their webpage) Bunnies on the Bayou, Inc. is a 501(c)3, all volunteer organization dedicated to the raising and distributing of funds for various charitable, educational, and cultural programs that seek to improve the quality of life and promote education and awareness of human rights for individuals in the Houston GLBT community. The organization raises money through a series of social events throughout the year, and culminates every Easter Sunday at Bunnies on the Bayou, the largest outdoor cocktail party in Texas. Before my volunteer bartending shift started I collected some drinks of my own for proper drinkin' purposes. All of the first shift volunteers were amazing and polite. The thousands of guests were also respectful. There were cops everywhere, but I didn't see any issues requiring "Sekkurity!" at any point, which is pretty impressive considering that some of my family's weddings needed cops after the True Italian (tm) came out, even at a family wedding - and this was a day drinking party with thousands of strangers. Later when my bartending shift started everyone behind the bar with me was just as nice, as were the guests. All in all a great use of a Sunday. I know where I will be next Easter Sunday for #38 and it is for a good cause! The other benefitting agencies were all doing various types of great work in the community, and the executive directors of those agencies I met were fun to talk with as I learned more about their vision and strategies.
