We were interviewed and asked a series of questions about our history, experience, and familiarity with dogs. We introduced the volunteer to our well trained 2 year old brittany mix, and that helped expedite the interview process. At that point we were told we were approved to adopt a boxer, and asked if we had looked at the dogs they currently had - we hadn't picked one out at that point. My S.O. had her heart set on a female brindle, and they said they didn't currently have any but would let us know if one came up. We were looking at several different boxer rescues all over Texas, and were preparing to go see one in Austin. The night before we were going to make the trip, we got a call from LSRB that a 1 yr old female brindle was being returned by a foster, and was located about 20 minutes away. We contacted the foster, hopped in the car, and a little over an hour later we were home with our newest furry family member. That was 10 years ago - Pepper has been the perfect fit for us, and we're SO grateful to LSRB and for all the work they do for this wonderful breed. If you're considering a boxer, this is a terrific group to work with to make that happen!

They weighed him and took him away. They called about 4 hrs later for me to pick him up. I've never had this done to any of my dogs before, but they took really good care of my baby. For the low cost, they also vaccinated him for rabies, and chipped him. I would definitely recommend. My baby is doing great, I followed the instructions to keep his cone on for 14 days and everything went wonderfully.

On April 11, I adopted a very sweet brown tabby cat through the organization, PetsAlive. I named…read moremy new cat Theodore and was told that Theo had been found on the streets and had recently had scabies, eye surgery and skin issues - all of which seemed to be healing nicely. I was never told of his extensive dental disease or that he had feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). I noticed that Theo's energy level seemed a little low, but he was eating very well and didn't display any signs of digestive issues. I DID notice that his breath was very smelly, so I took him to my veterinarian. The long story made short is that Theo will have to have several teeth extracted and his length and quality of life could be affected because bloodwork showed that he is positive for FIV. I have requested that PetsAlive take care of the dental issues Theo has since I can't afford thousands of dollars for teeth to be extracted. My concern of permanently returning Theo to PetsAlive is that his cycle of being an unwanted rescue cat will continue. His life could be one of going from adoption site to adoption site and never being adopted because of his bad teeth and FIV diagnosis. Please be aware that, according to my veterinarian, there are several no kill shelters that DON'T test animals for FIV or leukemia. Before you adopt an animal, please ask if the animal has been thoroughly tested for diseases that could affect the animal's health and wellbeing.

No luck! We agreed to foster and she completed a basic screening and offered assistance with vaccinations and arrangement to have the dog neutered. We will foster the dog until a suitable family is found. Her communication has been great and we sincerely appreciate her help for these animals that are left on the streets.

I will say she got attached to me pretty quickly. She was terrified of a lot of things and people especially kids. But the next day she started to growl at my granddaughter when she was loud or even when she was running around. And she also snapped at my daughter if she got to close to me. If I didn't have 4 grandchildren that come over a lot. I would have worked with her. I ended up giving her back. I gave them all the information what happened and I got yelled at and said I didn't give her a chance and every rescue dog is like this. Now I have rescues, my daughter has a rescue and my mom has 2. Not all are like that. So obviously I know not every rescue dog is like this. I tried to explain that I can not do any fear aggressive dog bc of my grandkids. I will not take that chance. As a professional she should have understood that she was not the right fit and needs to go to a home with no young kids and nothing really loud. I was already sad that she wasn't going to work out and felt guilty. By yelling at me, she made feel worse about this and put me in tears. I just wish she understood I couldn't take this chance around my grandchildren. And by my 30 something years of experience I don't think she would have gotten over her fear with people. She would hide behind me and growl and at one point snap. She just really needs to be worked with and socialized with people. I am writing this review just because I got yelled for returning the pup the next day. No rescue should ever do this. Even when you disagree.

Therese is clearly a competent and compassionate trainer and owner. I sent my recently-rescued dog to her for boarding and training while I was out of town. She was accommodating in every way, and communicated with me often (including sending me photos of my pup having fun with his new playmates!). My dog, who was timid, fearful, and anxious, was a different pup at K9 Heeler. It was shocking to see how confident, playful, and carefree he was! We still have a lot of work to do at home to help him overcome his prior traumas. Therese has been a wonderful resource, checking in with us and offering advice, even after his time with her. I have recommended her to all of my friends, and will definitely continue to seek out K9 Heeler for all of my training and boarding needs.

I'm writing this with real disappointment because this was a clinic I once trusted…read more What made this experience so upsetting wasn't just a billing issue; it was the shift in tone from care to judgment. When I requested my dogs' medical records so they could receive treatment for an active issue, the conversation quickly became focused on "personal responsibility" and payment, even after I explained that I intended to pay the balance and simply needed to prioritize getting my dogs treated first. I was not refusing payment. I was trying to take care of my animals. At one point, the interaction became tense, and I expressed frustration. Recognizing that, I asked to move communication into writing so everything could remain clear and documented. Despite that request, I received multiple calls and texts asking me to continue the conversation by phone rather than responding in writing. That felt inappropriate. When a client requests to communicate in writing, especially in a situation involving access to medical records, that boundary should be respected. More concerning, access to my pets' medical records appeared to be tied to payment in a way that created a barrier to timely care. Whether intended or not, it left me feeling pressured to resolve a financial issue immediately before I could ensure my dogs received treatment. Due to delays in receiving complete records, I incurred additional out-of-pocket costs at another clinic in order to proceed with necessary care. I had previously respected this clinic and the veterinarians here, which is why this experience was so jarring. I hope there is serious reflection on how these situations are handled moving forward, both in terms of policy and how clients are communicated with during stressful circumstances. No one trying to get care for their animals should leave feeling judged or pressured during that process.

The total cost of hydrotherapy is around $1500 for 12 30-minute sessions. I think that's rather high. For people who can afford to spare no expense, I'm sure this is nice. Just wish there were other lower cost options for my dog.
