I can't say enough about how wonderful Emmy's Hope Rescue is. The staff was just wonderful. We had lost one of our female chihuahuas from old age some time back and our remaining little girl was lonesome. We have had rescues in the past and visited with Emmy's Hope Rescue at Tomball PetSmart on a Saturday. We fell in love with one of the dogs but were concerned about the compatibility with our Annie who is very laid back and easy going. After completing the application, which I was so glad to see since many rescues do not seem to have that much concern for who adopts, safety issues, etc.,and a visit was arranged. It did not go well as the dogs personalities differed, however we gave it a second visit just to be sure. We wanted the dogs to be happily compatible since its a total commitment for all parties involved. It wasn't meant to be. However, I am happy to say we were not discouraged. We made several Saturday trips to check out and spend time with the adoptable dogs and fell in love with a little male chihuahua which has turned out to be such a delightful addition to our family and is perfect with Annie. Because he is even smaller my husband re-fenced part of the yard and made sure it was safe and it was approved upon inspection. THANK YOU Emmy's Hope Rescue for being so caring about all parties. I am so very glad that you do not just adopt out animals just because someone just wants to adopt a pet. It must be a true commitment on everyone's part to find the right fit, otherwise that adopted animal ends up back at square one after a period of time and its a lose lose situation for the animal. I would and do recommend Emmy's Hope Rescue to anyone I know who is seriously interested in looking to adopt a pet that has the love to give and understands the total commitment involved. I know Emmy's Hope Rescue will always find good homes and would never adopt an animal into a bad situation or wrong family. If they chose not to adopt an animal to someone, I respect that decision based on their experience and caring. They spend a great deal of money towards the food, health, and general care of their adoptable pets, many of which have been saved from horrific situations. And above all else they spend 16+ hours a day, basically their lives, providing attention, love, and caring for these animals for which their only reward is finding them safe, loving families who are truly committed to the well being of the animal in every way. Money cannot buy what these animals need. We are so fortunate to have found our great little Eli.. He is truly a joy and a pleasure everyday. The gift of love keeps on giving both ways everday. "We adopted our dog from Emmy's Hope almost 4 years ago and have had continued contact with the rescue "director" who loves to receive updates and photos of the love bugs she has placed with families. With response to the review written by Robin R. stating that the "director" of this rescue is a "hoarder" , this comment is just disgusting ! This rescue is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit rescue and as a person who has been to Emmy's Hope location I can say that these dogs are kept in a clean, safe, and loving environment, where they are extremely well looked after and socialized on a daily basis. This is truly a labor of love for these people. If they would not place an animal with an applicant you can be sure it was for a good reason and truly for the best interest of the animal ! Apart from the application and "history check" they also come out and have a look at the home and yard to make sure the dogs can't get out or get harmed in any way. Does that sound like a hoarder to you? If they ask for two years of vet records as stated in the review by Wendy S, it's because the animals that they have up for adoption have been in many cases through horrible circumstances and often it is not in the best interest of the animal to be placed in the care of someone who does not have the correct experience or environment. It is not impossible to adopt a pet as I am living proof, and had I wanted a different dog, maybe our family or environment may not have been a good fit. Since this is not an SPCA type environment, it is based on quality not quantity of placement. Some of these dogs have come from puppy mills, hoarder situations, some have been abused or thrown out of vehicles. If she says that you are not a good fit, then there is a very good reason why. I'm sure she does not want a dog to be adopted, to then have them returned or worse, re-dumped only to cause more pain and trauma to the animal. These animals deserve to have a loving, appropriate forever home. Just in the way these reviews are written with slanderous accusations speaks volumes as to the type of people that are writing them ! read more

I loved working with Emmy's Hope. After my beloved Rat terrier passed suddenly, I needed to heal my heart with another doggie in need of a good home. This was over the holidays and Stephanie and Deb rushed to help us thru the application process and test period for my sweet new baby boy. They are discerning about the homes they place these abandoned animals so they don't go from bad to worse situations and I wish more folks would understand this when working with rescues. I've never met more caring folks that even make you promise to return the doggie at any time if things don't work out for any reason. Going thru a rescue organization is tougher than going to the pet store for a puppy mill dog for sale, or to the shelter.....but you have the wonderful benefit of getting to know the animal from the foster moms so you know if your new pet will be a good fit or not for your family. This rescue organization is absolutely wonderful. All of the volunteers are so caring and kind-hearted and they really do want the best for these amazing animals. Emmy's Hope works hard to find quality homes with quality people. They are careful when it comes to potential adopters and will not place an animal with a person who does not have a credible vet/pet history, or one who seems to be ill tempered, and that is what I really love most about this organization. Most if not all of these animals are survivors, who really need a family that is going to be in it for the long run. They all fought hard to survive, and somehow ended up at the best possible place, in the arms of some of the best people around. These individuals do the absolute most for these animals, and would never turn one of their little souls away. Emmy's Hope Rescue is a great organization and they care so much about all of these little angels. Keep doing what you're doing EHR! read more

Emmy's Hope Rescue is wonderful! They are very thorough in the application process, because it is important that a pup be placed in a loving caring home. These rescue pups have already been abandoned by their original owners. They do not want that to happen again and will even have a trial period for you to see if your family and the pup are compatible. Emmy's Hope wants you and the pup to be a good match, so that it now has its forever home. They are very loving and caring rescuers and do everything to help the pups to recover from the trauma they have been through before placing them in their forever homes. i was set on a dog, Shad, on their website for a year but didn't have the space for him. as soon as i moved to a house, i applied for him. the process was very thorough, with Stephanie, the owner, really wanting to ensure the rescue dog was going to a good home with an owner who could care for him. he's been with us 10 months now, and we are so happy to have him. my dog Max loves him just as much as we do, and has found a brother in him. Stephanie really cares for all the rescues she has, and isn't interested in just finding them homes but also making sure they are a good fit. read more

Our family is so blessed to have found Emmy's Hope Rescue. I was impressed that the application and interview process was so thorough. They really do have the animals best interest in the forefront of all that they do. This is a group of extremely dedicated volunteers that are advocates for the animals. By taking such care with placement they ensure each animal is matched with the best forever home.
