Absolutely amazing!! I schedule my mini schnauzer to be neutered, and they took really good care of him. I was there when they opened so he was the first to get signed in. They weighed him and took him away. They called about 4 hrs later for me to pick him up. I've never had this done to any of my dogs before, but they took really good care of my baby. For the low cost, they also vaccinated him for rabies, and chipped him. I would definitely recommend. My baby is doing great, I followed the instructions to keep his cone on for 14 days and everything went wonderfully. read more

DO NOT bring your pet here. I brought my dog here to get his vaccinations, neutered and they offered to clip his nails. They clipped his nails half way off and they diagnosed him with heart worms and I literally didn't even know until I got the email. Or even what the next steps were for heart worms! My poor dog was tortured and he already has a past of abuse. He's only 10 months old and has not stopped crying and his body has been in complete shock shaking because of the pain he's going through. He already came from an abusive owner at 10 months old a dog should not have gone through this. I cannot believe professional health care providers would not tell me what to do about my baby heart worms or even apologize about his nails. I've seen movies where they torture the other person by clipping their nails! This is inhumane! I'm so sad for my dog that doesn't have a voice and now has heart worms. I've read so many reviews and now have to take him to the vet after I just had surgery yesterday and his was the day before so this has been such a default and not right! Their mission and team of volunteers are amazing. Post Harvey, volunteers worked an entire weekend to fill a new gym, SEAT 1000, with all sorts of pet supplies for fur babies in urgent need. Piles of food, leashes, beds and other supplies were stacked high; and the crew of volunteers were able to get donation in AND out - fast. I knew of many families up north who lost everything to Harvey, and needed any sort of assistance to feed their pets. I called up Houston Pet Set and they said "come and pick up food!" Ten bags later, the fur babies in the Conroe area finally received a good meal. The dogs actually came running out when they heard the bags of food being unloaded. Unforgettable. read more

Formerly called Holiday Pet Adoption, I guess this place is doing well because they've stuck around well past Christmas! It's easy to see why, too. For anyone who has been to a shelter, you know how depressing it can be. PetSet makes it a lot easier by providing a clean and pleasant environment. Not that the shelters don't warrant a visit either, but PetSet is doing the pets here a great service by placing this adoption center along a buys street in one of the wealthiest areas of town. If only every high-traffic shopping area could have a PetSet then I think pet adoptions would increase all the more. PetSet is connected to BARC, and all the animals here are being fostered by BARC volunteers until they can be adopted. This is such a great program because it provides the animals with a nicer place to live until they are adopted as well as helping them with socialization. There are BARC volunteers as well as some of the foster parents on hand to answer any questions and encourage adoptions. If, like me, you already have too many pets, you can still take a few minutes to stop by if you're shopping in the area and donate some spare cash or change. Most of the dogs in the back have bags on top of their kennels for donations. It helps the foster parents with care costs so the animals don't have to go back to BARC. Think about it: do you really need another accessory next door from Anthropologie, or could you help an animal in need instead? This is one of the worthiest causes in the city of Houston, so please go here first if you are considering getting a new cat or dog. Also encourage friends or anyone else you know who mentions pet adoption to stop by. And finally, as Bob Barker used to say on The Price Is Right, please ALWAYS have your pets spayed or neutered if they are not already. That is the single MOST important factor in helping to decrease the animal population inside and outside of shelters. read more

Well. I would really like to give zero stars but that's not possible. So, let me share why. This bunch were in charge of a transport going to Minnesota from the parking lot of Harris County Animal Control. The rescue group I work with was told to be there at noon. At 12:30ish a big bus marked 'rescueexpress.org' pulled in and park d at the back of the lot. No one from that group bothered to come let anyone from my group know what was going on. And HOUR later, we walk back to where the bus is parked. What do we see? Lots of peoples me standing around visiting and a video camera taking lots of pics & video. Still no one acknowledges our presence. Some 45 minutes later, lots of visiting still going on. No animals being loaded. Someone from our group goes over to get information. A tall woman comes over and treats us like the 'hired help' and goes on to tell us 'we are all volunteers here'. Well, honey, we're volunteers too. Maybe y'all should be more inter eyed in the welfare of the animals instead of having a party and taking videos. read more
