I got to check our the Jung Center the last time I was in Houston with my cousin. I have to say the experience was very peaceful and I have to say I felt like I was in a different world. I can't say I am very artistic, after being in The Jung Center, I do have a very different perspective on art. I'd say anyone that wants to walk away with a new perspective they should check TJC out! read more

The Jung Educational Center offers more than 100 classes each year in the fields of psychology, philosophy, the humanities, religion and the expressive arts. It has a very nice bookstore. It's not much of a museum, but I was lucky enough to drop in when they actually had an exhibit in house. It was an exhibit done by Sam Rayburn HS after hurricane IKE. They used fence pieces as their canvas. These pieces were very interesting. I'm not sure how long they will be there but they were definitely interesting to see art done by students about an event that directly impacted them. read more

I went to an opening Saturday night for Sam Sartorius's work. She has a unique way of expressing herself and I found myself sitting in the chairs provided staring at several if the pieces and seeing things in them that I didn't see when I casually looked at them initially. I was fortunate to have the artist present to answer questions I had about several pieces. The Jung Center - Community Centers Near Me - Houston, Texas

I'm a huge Carl Jung fan. Phycology is a small hobby of mine and I like reading the earlier books of Cark Jung, especially ones relating to "Phycological Types." The library is why I come here. I've found some speciality books on cognitive functions and MBTI that I didn't know existed. None of the big book stores around town carry these so you have to come here to get them, unless you want to browse online. The only problem I have coming here is parking. They have no lot so you have to find a place on the street in one of the most dense areas of town. Be prepared to park a couple blocks over and make sure you look for "no parking" signs which are scattered all around. Note: If you find a book you like here, and can afford it, buy it here and not Amazon. Sure, online stores are cheaper but places like this are giving you the luxury of an actual place to find a book you like and read it before making your purchase. If everyone gets their books from Amazon, then local book stores like this won't be around for much longer. read more

I love that Houston has a Jung Center! Don't get me wrong. I am not a devoted Jung follower, but I love that places like this add thought diversity to our city. They always have cool art exhibits on the walls, and their classes are amazing. From yoga to belly dancing, to dream recognition to fairy tales. I have really enjoyed the Music of Mahler classes with Dr. Applebaum and the Lessons in Mindfulness with Mickey Fine. The classes can be a bit pricey, but I believe they have some student discounts. Also, they have free lectures all the time. If you are walking by the Glassel school or are around the MFAH, take a moment to just walk into the Jung Center and browse. read more

On my tour of area museums I had this down as a stop. It's really more of admin offices with a few classrooms. There are several paintings and other works of art in the lobby for sale. Not really a museum but also takes about 5 minutes to see if you are walking by. They have info at front desk about all of the Jung classes offered. read more

For many years, I have taken a variety of wonderful classes here, from the Artist's Way to SoulCollage and memoir writing. I have also attended lectures on psychology, mythology and poetry. It is a good place to investigate when your soul needs more nourishment and enlightenment. I have particularly enjoyed the lectures given by James Hollis and Pittman McGehee. Much food for deep thought at the Jung Center! I love stopping into the bookstore/library to see the latest books on creativity, psychology, Jung, etc. I must admit that I have some vested interest in the place in that my small Altar Art Labyrinth collages are for sale in the bookstore. But in any case, my affinity for the place goes way back. I fell so lucky to live in a city with such a wonderful organization offering such a rich panoply of classes and events. And I would be remiss if I did not mention the art shows, which change monthly. Every summer there is a group show featuring Jung Center members. I can't praise the place enough. True, it is probably not for everybody, but you never know until you try! PS: The Jung Center has free movie showings during the hot summer months. read more

Never been here before, but what a cool place! We attended during the Marilyn Monroe exhibit and it was a great exhibit. The artifacts they had were a step back into another time! Enjoyed getting to learn more about Marilyn! The other room that was not part of it, had some awesome photos/drawings that were really thought provoking! The classes and lectures I attended featuring Dr. James Hollis completely changed my life. The understanding I gained about myself and others has helped me in every facet of my personal and professional life. He's the finest interpreter of Jung and we are blessed to have him here in Houston. Do not pass up an opportunity to learn from him. The Jung Center bookstore is filled with interesting books and audio that are unavailable elsewhere in Houston. And if the bookstore does not have it, the staff will happily track it down and get it for you. read more

This was my first visit here (pronounced Young Center). They were in the process of getting ready for an art exhibit, so we didn't get to look around much other than the library / book store but the librarian was very helpful in answering all our questions regarding purpose of the center and class offerings. What can I say about the Carl Jung Center. The first Time I stepped foot into this center I sensed a peaceful presence and just felt engulfed with a loving energy. The Carl Jung Center has exceptional art show-cases that are provided to the public every month, as well as excellent classes for furthering ones knowledge spiritually, mystically, cognitively, and the list goes on and on. I truly do recommend The Carl Jung Center for anybody of all ages, to experience this lovely HOME. Also I must say the Book Store has an infinite number of books on Jungs Teachings, Mysticism, Psychology, and Art. I enjoy the courses and lectures, especially those related to arts and music. Participants are good course companions, easy to chat or not, interested in learning and getting CEU's. Offerings frequently stimulate personal growth and exploration in a non judgmental manner. Parking can be a challenge and worth a short walk in the area. read more
