First of all, our server was awesome, but this place has really gone downhill in my opinion. It was almost totally empty even with an event going on at the arena. It just looked super rundown. The booth seats are torn up, and the menus look like they've seen better days. The happy hour food was not good! We ordered a cheeseburger that just came plain. No condiments or toppings. We also ordered the ham and cheese sliders, and they were just ham and cheese thrown in some rolls. Disgusting ! Grease build up on tables. Food was cold. We were the only table eating and it took 47 minutes to get food. The server didn't come to our table until we had been there for 15 minutes. I ordered fish and chips. Fish was over cooked and extremely greasy but at least it was hot the french fries on my plate where ice cold. The coleslaw it was actually good. There was seven in our party two of us sent some of our food back because it was cold. The hamburgers were way overcooked. No thank you. This was the one and done. I ordered a burger from State 48 and it was honestly terrible. The burger arrived completely burnt -- not "well done," but straight up charred to the point where it tasted bitter. For what they charge, that's unacceptable. What makes it even more frustrating is the name. Stopped in to State 48 with a small group of people, we found a table in the bar area and were greeted right away. They have an extensive list of beer, cocktails and Cider Corp hard cider.. the only problem is they were out of a lot of things on the menu (beer and cider).. but we made it work. We ordered food and it was a hit and miss .. my steak Cobb salad was a miss, I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out sliced thick and more on the well done side. Located in Westgate in Glendale, State 48 Funk House is a very good meal stop. Something interesting: there is a bowling alley inside this establishment! The 3 of us ladies shared Fried Pickles as he waited for our meals. Iced tea & cocktails were also ordered. Food portions here are very generous, as my friend Karlee took the rest of her meal home. He left the tab open for me. I went in and had a single martini. My total $37. They tried to play it off like I had 2 martinis and continued to press like that's what happened and I had 2. I clearly had one. What they don't know and I don't expect them to is that we haven't had a break in what feels like years and have to go alone and for the first time I had the nerve to go to a bar alone and "raw dog" the experience with no phone - trying to be more present. Very disappointing outing. We purchased a Groupon for bowling and arrived around 2 on a Sunday. We had our son with us but were out on the only lane with broken bumpers. I used the restroom only to find an unclean bathroom with a gross smell, broken soap dispenser, and water that barely trickled out. I ordered a cocktail off of the happy hour menu (vodka and sprite) and it was served in a 20oz glass, if there was vodka in it it would be a surprise to me. We ordered a kids chicken tender meal with ranch, the happy hour burger, and the happy hour turkey Ruben sliders. The burger came with nothing on it and was not seasoned. Just a sad sandwich. The Ruben's were super small and sad as well. Did not care for the flavors at all. My son's chicken fingers and fries were the best thing on the table by far and a much better value than the happy hour items at the same price but including fries and a drink. The bowling alley was 82 degrees and after asking the waitress about turning down the air she said that it wasn't possible and that the heat coming through the glass doors was bringing in the heat. We paid for two hours of bowling but left after two games. The two parties next to us were visibly fanning themselves due to the heat. The one gentleman bartender was stressed and snapping at waitresses who were also stressed. There should have been 6-8 bartenders and think there were two, one at each corner, one roving, and one making drinks for tables. This is not rocket science. Management should be fired. THEN THEN, a lady who appeared to be a supervisor was yelling at customers that the place was TOO FULL and that the fire Marshall had just been there and was gunna shut the place down. What? Huh? We went for a date night on Saturday 1/24/2026 with 2 other couples. There were 6 of us in total. I had made reservations for dinner and bowling. We waited over 30 mins to be sat at our table and then told that the lane we'd reserved had been given away and we wouldn't be able to bowl. After sitting around at the table for 10 minutes a waitress showed up and took our order. 15 minutes later she told us the systems were down, and our tables order was not entered. We had to re-ask for waters. 45 minutes later, after speaking with the manager we were assured the food was almost ready. 15 minutes later, still no food. Finally; they told us the food would take another 15 minutes (burgers, salads and chicken fingers) we had enough and got up and left. My kids both left hungry, we were angry for the wasted time and we just ate at the concert instead as we had no time to pivot to a different restaurant. For a restaurant to be this unprepared knowing there was a concert, and knowing it would be busy, while being in the entertainment district is absurd. Though we didn't taste the food, it didn't even look good as it was as brought out to other tables. The tables next to us also waited an hour plus and didn't get served before we departed, we wished them good luck and everyone sitting around was visibly annoyed. This place is a total joke. Monika was our server and she was very kind & knowledgeable- made great entree & beer suggestions. We started with meatballs and potstickers as appetizers. Both were delicious! We wanted to share a burger and I was really interested in trying The Monstrosity Burger. HOLY MOLY that Monstrosity Burger was seriously off the charts! We were both full with no room for dessert after which is a rare event! This has to be the hugest (yes, that's a word...) most enormous burger I have EVER tried in my lifetime! You just have to order it and try it, then like me, you'll want to attempt to duplicate it at home because the concept seems so ridiculously simple! I went with the Beer Cheese Burger as my entrée, and paired it with onion rings. The burger was huge! 1/2 lb, cooked medium like I requested. It came topped with some bacon jam, an onion ring, and the beer cheese was served on the side. Everything was delicious, and extremely messy! Used about 5 napkins. The only thing I didn't like was the bun. It was toasted a little too much as far as the top bun was rock hard. Made the burger harder to eat. Not too big of a deal though. Onion rings were tasty! She explained the beer lineup and got me a sample and a pint in no time at all. I highly suggest the Mustache Ride IPA. Solid west coast IPA and I'm a total beer snob. I ordered the chicken wings which is another thing I'm extremely particular about. The dry rub drizzled in honey is so good! My only criticism would be the generic ranch. Giving 5 stars to help counterbalance some of the bad reviews but my honest review would be between 4-5 stars for the experience we had! Had a date night here with my husband, we were greeted and seated kindly and quickly. The lanes aren't anything fancy, but the on screen transitions with our faces on them were a funny and entertaining touch. We ordered food and a cheap bottle of wine, both were great! I had the 48 burger which was really good. Their fries seemed super fresh and everything came out quick. Our server was super sweet! My husband and I both remarked how friendly she seemed and was very accommodating. It was a slower night, but the vibes were still there! Overall it was a really great night. Nothing fancy, nothing crazy. I think a lot of the bad reviews might just be bad one-off experiences?? Or maybe we were the exception, who knows. Just like every other state 48, it's not good! The service really isn't great and the food is just sub par. They never can back to check on food or drinks (it's a slow afternoon). During bowling no one really came to check in on drinks, we kept having to stop our waitress for drinks. Maddie was nice and friendly but I just don't think the expectation of what good service is, is taught here. The biggest reason for the 1 star is having no AC and not informing customers of this. We got so hot bowling it was uncomfortable and all we were told was the ac was fixed yesterday but it's still on the fritz. It was all a very strange experience, but the beer was solid. I enjoyed all 4 beers, but the Dark Ale (Rambo) was my favorite.
