Alex of Starving Plumbers came this morning to fix my leaking shower, and he did something so outstanding that I've come straight to Yelp: As we were headed into the house,, his eye caught water fizzling under a hose bib on top of the landscaping pebbles. He immediately dropped to his knees and scraped away the pebbles and dirt and found water spurting out of a break in the pipe. I'd been in and out a hundred times and never noticed. Thank God he did. Another fixit needed, but I shudder to think how long it could have gone on if he hadn't been so observant. Well, I've given them enough time and enough chances. They are friendly enough on the phone but weak on follow through. I asked them to come out to give me an estimate for replacing a waterheater. Simple job. Simple estimate. Strict replace. They came out on time and we discussed the project. Eric gave me a ball park and I said great and asked for the written estimate. Several weeks later it never showed up. I emailed the info email and never got a response. I texted Eric and a week later he called back.
