I wasn't going to do a review but the staff here are just so friendly that I really wanted to acknowledge the welcoming environment they create. The coffee is good and hot, the walnut banana loaf (which they warm up for you if you'd like) is satisfying. The music is mellow and there is a range of comfortable seating. But, it is mostly hearing the friendly voices as they greet many of their customers by name as they walk in the door that really made me smile. I typically wouldn't review Starbucks, even as a frequent flyer. But I really have to hand it to the Avenir location. My husband and I have lived in Merrifield for four years now, and have always only had the best experience and drinks from this location. We actually used to live closer to another location, but the drinks were very inconsistent and had a lot of errors, which happens but it was just frequent. After seeing the consistent quality of this location, it became our default. Now we live within walking distance so we come almost weekly. I love the good vibes of the baristas here, they're always so welcoming and happy. They write those cute notes and sayings on your drink like "smile today!" Or "you are awesome!". Once I accidentally ordered my birthday drink to another location (far far away) so I reordered it here and paid for it since it was my mistake, they gave me a little complimentary drink after my husband told them what happened. Truly such an amazing group. Give them all a big fat raise! read more

Terrible and dishonest service. An employee who seemed to be new did not understand my order of a tall brewed coffee and kept asking if I want to add shots. I had to repeat like 6 times that I just just wanted a cup of brewed coffee. Other employees and managers standing right there did nothing to help. At another time, an old time employee and a manager lied to me when I tried to use my rewards/stars to get a free coffee. They said that day is double stars day and asked me to buy the coffee instead. I did that. But there was no email from Starbucks about that day being a double stars day. In another visit, the cashier handed me a cup of hot brewed coffee without a sleeve. When I asked for it, she said it is at the condiment bar. I said the cup is hot and how would I hold it. I had to request at least 3 or 4 times before she reluctantly decided to put a sleeve on there. read more

8/25/23 There was a time Starbucks Coffee wasn't a thing for me. About a year into driving my route with Reston Limousine, I started visiting  Starbucks for their new Refresher Drinks.   This is now followed up is with food/Snacks. The ham and cheese croissants are delicious.   I have ordered a number of these during my time as a driver.  One or two have held me over for my 8.15 shift.  On rare occasions I have crushed 3 or 4 of these croissants.  I have tried the coffee cake, the bagels and cream cheese  and seasonal item that is like a peach tart.  All of these are good, but over time I have watched the price on these items rise.  Starbucks is getting expensive, but during my drives, there ate times this is the place  close enough for me to go to. The vantage point letsbme see possible passagers needing a lift on my shuttle  bus. The staff here remember names and faces and normally start making your order when they see you.   Since the Coronavirus Pandemic, more people have been pre-ordering their Drinks and Food items.  Now I see people walking in and out of the restaurant  in less that a minute in most cases. Today, I saw the coffee place was busier than normal.  I decided to come back  40 minutes later and order my drink. I ordered my Mango Refresher with water instead of lemonade. I also asked for the Dragon Powder without the fruit. Apparently I am the only one who requires this.  I like how the powder turns the drink purple without the bad tasting fruit. I look forward to coming back here again.  I am most likely  going to write a ghost story using Starbucks as the main focus point of the story.  Could be fun... read more

It works. Admittedly this is a busy location. I prefer more relaxed. Yet when in need of a IV drop of caffeine, I love their mocha frappe's. A tasty treat with a boost. There are other regular hot coffees too. Some of them aren't so good, while the Christmas and Rift Valley blends are exceptional. Customer service here is solid. The employees are both polite and efficient. Parking here is relatively simple. You probably could find a comfortable seat, to be the biggest challenge. If in the area I like it, and am grateful for the good service. read more

One of my friends encouraged me to try their Pistachio Cream Frapuccino which is a seasonal drink that the have right now. He was drinking at work one day, and I felt tempted to ask him if I could try it. I ordered the venti sized, and I wished that I had ordered two, it was so gosh darn delicious! The problem with ordering more than 1 frapuccino is that these things melt rather quickly. I've always been a big fan of the frapuccino drinks that they offer here, and I'm impressed on how t hey seem to come up with something new every couple of years. It was easy enough to swing on over here before work, and the place wasn't that busy at all, considering it was around 8am. I did take a seat and wasted time with their WiFi for a couple of minutes, and it was nice! read more

Busy location! Nice people. Ample Seating! Was visiting Vienna on a business trip in early November. Wanted something other than the bland catered coffee from the hotel. Found this location one block from my hotel. Came in, there was a HUGE line of people at the door but not waiting to order, waiting for their order to complete. Red flag for me. I was worried it would take 15 minutes to get a pour of Pike Place. Nah. They were great. I ordered my standard Venti Pike Place ... here's the catch... WITH ROOM! (Right? I wanted to put my own sugar and cream in). The barista was super confused when I said "with room." They asked if I want cream or sugar with my coffee. I told them I would do it on my own, politely, and thanked them. Now I understood why. I don't know if this is a Virginia spin off that makes Virginia yet another reason to never live, but they don't have "ala carte" sugar packets or creamer... like every other Starbucks I've been to in this world (INCLUDING ALL OF FRANCE!... literally, the world!) So, after the line died down and my drink cooled a little, I walked back up to the barista and asked for some cream and sugar and explained MY confusion. Come to find out and after some research, apparently Starbucks is slowly and quietly taking away their "condiment bar" in all locations making it to where if you want cream and sugar, you have to ask for it when ordering and watch them rip off the sugar packets and little creamers. Oh well. This location was very clean and actively being cleaned while I was visiting. Everyone was nice. I would visit again if I were back in the area. Thank you! read more

I've been going to this location in Dunn Loring for almost 4 years. I get the same amazing service everyday. I'm so happy they are open again and love the staff there. Starbucks is usually a good place to have coffee but not the one next to Dun Loring Metro. I have been a guest of theirs for over a year and the service there is just poor. Rita a associate of Starbucks at this location is the worst. They have no customer service skills and they charge enough for the drinks to provide a decent service experience but not this one. I wouldn't recommend this Starbucks to anyone better to stop at a different coffee place than Starbucks especially this one. I would rate my experience 00 as they don't even deserve a 1. read more

Deplorable service and immature employees on my last and final visit to this Starbucks. For a $6 drink, I expect it to be made to order, with no adolescent giggling, eye rolling, and laughing about my request. I was embarrassed personally and embarrassed for them for their shameful lack of courtesy and professionalism. I used to frequent this place, but my awful experience guarantees that I will never give them any more of my business. read more
