a cup of iced coffee on the dashboard of a car
    Tammra S.

I typically love Starbucks. This location is not as productive as other locations. It's not a cafe or quaint coffee shop. It's. Starbucks where a consumer should be able to get a quick coffee. I waited 15 minutes for an iced coffee. It was a little frustrating as they did or have a lot of customers (or at least that's the way it appeared- see pics) and I counted at least 5 employees walking around out back that had green aprons on in addition to those out front. Just didn't seem very organized. I don't like becoming impatient but seeing so many employees and waiting 15 minutes for a coffee was quite frustrating.

I was kindly given a gift card, however blech. The service was good, the drive thru lady was helpful and kind. The holiday plum danishy thing was fantastic, the matcha was Earthier than I appreciate, the bacon egg n gouda breakfast sandwich was a total disappointment. The bread was like a slider, yes they should rebrand them as sliders. The bacon was limp, bread hard and egg like a powdery sponge.

Small and crowded inside, often a long line outside. I'm not a frequent Starbucks patron but I will occasionally stop here while out running errands. The staff is nice enough. Unfortunately the logistics of the location make it frustrating, due to it being on a tight corner in a busy parking lot (shared with Chipotle) where people aren't always driving carefully and there are blind corners. I also hate that an order of 2 small egg bites is almost $5, but that's Starbucks.

4:52 pm picked up my drink and this is how they gave me it. Brown sugar oatmeal shaken expreso almost half way and no milk?

service was fine no issues there, but I picked up my drink with some other stuff I ordered and it was like this. As soon as I noticed I parked and try to go inside since the drive through is full just to find the doors locked and a sign that says sorry our cafe is closed. I know is probably a mistake, but the fact that I have no way to get the rest of my drink or at least my money back speaks volumes of the way star bucks does business. PS. Not a Karen, just want my oat milk

I am not a coffee drinker but I love the refreshers at Starbucks. The strawberry acai is by far my favorite! The women who takes your order at the drive thru is very friendly and patient which i appreciated. My dislikes is the function of that drive thru line is ridiculous. Cars are parked everywhere, people are honking and arguing. Its happened both times that I've gone there that someone is upset and arguing and screaming. It discourages me from wanting to return to be honest. Just wish that parking lot had more space.

This is an update to my previous review, and apology to the people who work in the store. I was very upset that they're giving me a hassle over giving me enough milk to fill my tea to the top of the container, saying that they were too loud to give more than 4 ounces of milk to add to one's tea. Although if you wanted half-and-half, you could add as much as you want from the carafe. I had recently been rear ended, and was in a very not so happy space, and this was one of my favorite places to come and have some tea, and relax. And my deepest apologies to all of the employees and the manager who work so hard, for relatively so little amount of money in this age where minimum-wage is not even $15 yet. But even the back pain and neck pain and Car Accident, is not even a valid excuse. This is actually one of The nicest Starbucks to go to and I owe them a deep amends for my previous review and losing my stuff in the heat of a very insignificant moment. I think in the last eight months also I have realized there's so much anger and suffering in the world, that any opportunity to be kind, is so essential. We are all living in a nation that is largely in great fear, that is being oppressed, and terrorized, by the President and his regime. I live in a state of PTSD now from the amount of abuse that is going on in this country. And I deeply deeply regret that eight months ago, I was so enmeshed in my own physical suffering from the car accident, that I was not my best. In fact I was probably at my worst. I went there today, to get tea and a croissant, heartbroken, about the recent Supreme Court decision allowing discrimination by the woman who refused to make the wedding cake for the gay couple. And the manager remembered me, and I apologized to him although that did not seem to do very much, and he was kind and generous and gracious enough, that he gave me milk for my tea without throwing me out of the store first. My apology and regret was sincere. And it was clear that I had really upset and hurt him, and you probably affected the rest of his day, and the fact that he remembered it today makes that certain. That's the thing about anger, a moments anger can destroy a lifetime of goodness. Destroy a friendship, destroy a relationship, or destroy the country. I feel a sense of deep regret for the anger that I expressed at such a trivial situation, And as a reminder, I am leaving the previous review up for a little bit longer which I will take down or somehow amend. Although a seemingly trivial incident, I learned a very valuable life lesson today: if I don't like seeing the negativity that is permeating this country, of hatred and anger, then that's my utmost duty, to squash even the smallest millisecond of anger or hatred that arises in my mind, due to lifetime's worth of habitual conditioning. A 10th century saint said that anger is the most difficult mental affliction to defeat. But he said declare war on anger, and he reminded us that we will lose many battles, but that does not mean we have lost the war. So never give up fighting or anger and judgment which is all based in ignorance, fear, and not understanding where things come from ultimately. There were some very wise people along the way, that said practice kindness and love, no matter what. Even towards those who challenge us. Especially towards those who challenge us. These wise enlightened beings even went on to say that every negative experience that comes to us are actually coming from previous negative actions we set in motion in the past. I'm sorry.

THAT WAS A ANT IN MY DRAGON DRINK

i found a ANT in my drink. i was drinking it while i found it. i also ordered my drink at 6:40 and i waited 20 minutes for it. the place is clean but it also has crumbs on the table from people not cleaning it.

The sweet cream cold brew is one of the best cold drinks offered!

This is my favorite Starbucks close to home and an amazing staff! I'm here anywhere from 2-6 times a week. I have yet to have a bad experience. My drinks are always on point and they are always served with a smile! I come here to read and work on my book. I recommend if you come through the drive thru all the time to come in and talk to the staff and just enjoy the environment here. Also the music selection is always changing and no matter the genre they're playing the best songs.

A nice breakfast sandwich to compliment the coffee!
    Joel V.

I'm usually not a big fan of Starbucks. I take it if it's the only option but I almost always find myself at Dunkin or McDonalds when it comes to chain coffee or breakfast. Starbucks now has Nitro Coldbrew and it's pretty good. On this day I also grabbed a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. Also tasty. The staff are incredibly friendly and upbeat at this location. It's helpful when I love Nitro Coldbrew and I'm in a rush. If you're a fan of the Coldbrew, judge for yourself. Come check it out!

Fairly certain the ingredients are supposed to be spread across the entire sandwich...

First I am a scone addict, they had 5 different types. I was in heaven. We had one each and coffee. It is so nice to find. A place that can offer honey instead of sugar or artificial sweeteners. The scones were delicious, so much so I bought one of each for home. The two very friendly people working were Julia and Pan. They are so grilled to work in this cute and unique shop and it was very apparent. Loved them! This is my new favorite shop and hope to be there often. I'm ashamed and embarrassed to admit it's my first time there but it definitely will not be my last. I'm posting a ton of pictures just so you all can see what they offer. The scones were incredible as was my Americano which they gave me for free as a nurse. There's a board you can purchase a $4 cup of coffee for a service worker (Medical, police, fire fighter, teacher, etc.) which I thought was a wonderful idea and concept. To be gifted this by a stranger was a very unexpected and pleasant surprise. Julia was working and made us feel so at home. She remarked at how wonderful the owners are to work for and how much she is passionate about working there. Her coworker Pan said it was the greatest job ever. I loved all of the small gifts. Some of which Julia said she made are on the shelves as well as mystery books that are like blind dates for readers. I didn't get to eat off their menu other than the scones, but if the food is as good as the baked goods and coffee, then I can hardly wait to try it. My mother and I are already looking forward to making this a weekly visit. I'm also hoping that I can start replacing my order ahead at Starbucks with an order ahead coffee here! Suggestion: it would be great if there was an app to do that... Just a thought. Julia did say I could call ahead and so I'm thinking about that. I'm a big supporter of small businesses in my community. It would much rather give my money here than to the big chains. I hope this place is around for a very long time. The place was full when we got there and it was still full when we left so it looks like we're not the only ones who discovered this hidden gem. If you haven't been there yet, you need to go try it. You're gonna kick yourself for not coming sooner. Thank you Julia and Pan for the great service and hospitality. You two are as much about making it a great experience as anything else.

On my first visit, I had the unfortunate timing to arrive late in the morning after a huge rush of locals had pretty much wiped out all their specials. Except one: a coffee drink with fish sauce. You read that correctly. FISH SAUCE. Like the kind you put on a savory Asian dish. It wasn't what I wanted, but the person making the coffees talked me into it because, as noted, they were literally out of almost everything else. I thought, well, I do like fish sauce, and maybe it just adds an umami kick, the way salt on caramel amps up the richness of a dessert. And I was not disappointed! In fact, it was delightful and very easy to drink! From that point, I felt pretty much hooked. These folks know their flavor combos and despite how 'weird' some might sound, they just work. My current obsession is their miso gourd-core on their fall menu - sort of like a savory pumpkin spice latte - delicious. I also love the golden nugget with turmeric maple syrup and clove. Really good. I have not tried anything else here food-wise (i.e. no cookies, smoothies or other nibbles), but usually pair my coffee with something delectable from next door at Jens Artisan - such as a quiche, mini cheesecake or cinnamon roll.... I'm a fan. And I highly recommend trying something outside of your comfort zone!

You enter through the ordering area on the right, which opens up to additional seating on the left. Interactions with staff were purely transactional, no small talk or pleasantries, unlike what others have experienced. My drink was ready within a few minutes, while my food took 15. Maple Cinnamon Chai: autumn in a cup. The spices added a cozy warmth to the chai, and the balance of tea to milk was just right. The maple syrup was subtle, leaving a light, sweet aftertaste. Lovely seasonal option. Beechwood Bowl: customizable bowl with your choice of protein, cheese, and sauce. The base comes with two eggs, potatoes, onions, and peppers. I went with sausage, vegan mozzarella, and sriracha mayo. The to-go version came in a paper box with utensils. The portion was on the smaller side, but the potatoes and veggies were well-seasoned and nicely cooked. The eggs were soft but a bit bland. The sausage was finely chopped and on the salty side. The vegan mozzarella added a creamy texture. The sriracha mayo had good flavor, but the drizzle was too light to carry through the whole dish. The standout was the crispy potatoes, everything else was just okay. I wouldn't return for the food, but the drinks were memorable. I'd definitely come back for their coffee or tea.

Last April 2024, we had gone on 2 trips, which is highly unusual. Rochester, NY was a planned trip, and the M is for Moxie 33 in Virginia was an unplanned trip 2 weeks later. There was a Total Solar Eclipse across America on April 8, 2024, which was the catalyst for my friends doing a love ceremony in the groom's birth city of Rochester and us going there in the first place. Rochester had its pluses & minuses like any place, but one of the pluses was a couple of the great local businesses we tried including Chai Guy & New City Cafe. Also, the day after the solar eclipse we enjoyed the close proximity to Niagara Falls & Buffalo. The day after that on Wednesday, April 10 was our last day staying Rochester before hitting the road later in the afternoon to get back to Maryland, which we visited New City Cafe around midday. Also, interestingly, my girlfriend & I got back from a Canada trip in early June 2025, which included overnights in Niagara Falls, ON, Toronto, & Syracuse, NY and stopping in Buffalo on way, Kingston, ON on northern route on way to Syracuse, & the Finger Lakes area after leaving Syracuse, but we ended up avoiding Rochester this time around. New City Cafe Experience: A group of us from our trip ate brunch & coffee here around lunchtime on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The staff was friendly, and the egg breakfast sandwich I got was delicious and big portion as was the Matcha Latte. My g/f & I had to go back to the Chai Guy for a Chai since we enjoyed so much the morning before; so we split the Matcha Latte. One friend in the group got their Kombucha, which he let me try, but the flavor wasn't my cup of tea, but it was still a good quality. We sat on a long bench which accommodating for our large group. The place was well decorated with various local Rochester flair. As it turns out, this was a non-profit, church ministry to help people in the local community with jobs and to serve the community with friendly customer service, providing great food/drink, & a community gathering place. We didn't know about this as a church ministry as we were just picking a brunch place within close proximity to where a lot of the people's AirBnB as they just checked out, but that's kind of cool. If I'm ever in Rochester again, I'd definitely consider coming back to New City Cafe.
