Very nice coffee shop across from the canal. Outdoor seating and indoor ambiance with tables and merchandise for sale. Pet friendly inside and out. Was greeted with a friendly hello. I got the last half cup of Jamaican me crazy so she brewed a new pot. Unfortunately I had grounds in the bottom. I am sure had I mentioned it they would have given me a new cup, but I was engaged in conversation with a new friend so I did not go back up to the counter. I will revisit.

After moving to Boston, I realized how much I missed the aesthetics of coffee on the Erie Canal. The Neutral Ground Coffee cafe has such cute vibes, great seating options, and amazing drink options. In addition to drinks, they also offer pastries and meal options. This morning I opted for an iced snicker doodle latte with almond milk and it was AMAZING. It made me realize just how much I missed my home town (being Pittsford). I didn't try any food this morning but noticed they don't have many gluten free options (I'm gluten free). However, their drinks are all gluten free (even smoothies). Neutral ground is always a must go latte stop when I visit Rochester. I can't wait to come back next time I visit.

    Oatmeal with berry topping

Stopped by this charming coffee shop a couple times on a recent trip to the area. One morning for breakfast I ordered the oatmeal with berry topping. The berry topping was an additional fee ($1.50) which is expected but the amount of berry added was pretty sparse (a sliced strawberry or two is all). For my coffee order, I got a mocha which was tasty! The dining room is large, offering plenty of table seating. They seem to reserve one side for events and gatherings. There was a baby shower gathering while I was there and they had the tables nicely decorated. It was a great place to get a little work done and the service is lovely. Get to it!

    The Pittsford Sandwich

The Pittsford sandwich is delicious. It comes with sliced turkey and cranberry aioli. If you add the chips, it gives the sandwich an extra crunch. Sometimes it gets super packed on weekends and there's a long line. For drinks, I like the hot matcha with oat milk and the vanilla latte with syrup. It's a super cute spot to catch up with friends and there's ample parking in the back. Afterwards you can take a nice walk along the canal.

Great spot at schoen place- hot drinks as well as beer/wine Small menu looked good but we just enjoyed coffees The space is beautiful sort of divided into two separate areas. It looks like one half is available for private functions. A bit of a wait for coffee but it's a pleasant atmosphere to sit while you wait.

Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. I can see it being easy to sit and enjoy coffee and food here. The atmosphere is very laid back and cozy. On the other hand, I was not a huge fan of what I got. I got an oatmilk latte and didn't want to finish it in the end. My egg sandwich on sourdough was taste burnt. Maybe I am an odd one out when I don't like my food "charred", which is the new hip thing to do. Not sure if all the sandwiches are like this or not. I would go back again and try another item. But my first experience I was not impressed.

Sorry for blurry pic, Sam's breakfast chowder

I really wanted to love this place but the service was super slow. I was hoping to pop in for a quick bite to eat and with an active toddler, I was hoping for it to be a lot quicker than expected. I ordered what I thought would be the fastest thing on their menu which was their breakfast chowder and a single scoop of ice-cream and the place wasn't even that crowded. There was probably one family before me who was ordering lunch at the time. My ice cream seemed to take a while too. My ice cream had went and gone and then after some more waiting, my chowder finally came. Despite that, the chowder was really nice but had to bring most of it home since my toddler son had grown impatient. Definitely the food was great and a nice location by the canal but service needs to be quicker. Just thinking it could have been the day since the front cashier kept apologizing for the wait.

Nice, clean place serving good coffee at a decent price. Plus everyone, of all backgrounds, is welcomed and greeted with a smile.

Great atmosphere and nice little town it's situated in. I got a cold brew and it was good. Wish I had more time to spend there.

Both flavors were incredible: super creamy and rich. My friend got chocolate almond fudge, and that was just as good. Other than sweet treats, they also have coffees and teas on their menu, and a bunch of different dairy products. It feels cozy, local, and authentic - like everything is fresh or straight from the farm. It's actually part of a long-standing local farm operation, which makes the experience feel even more genuine. I also loved that they support other local businesses and sell products from them, it adds to that community feel. Overall, this place is more than just an ice cream stop, it's a whole experience. It seemed as though our table was an inconvenience to his evening. It was about 15min into us sitting down before we were asked about ordering which he rushed us through. We did however get water right away, and later on the same woman was very prompt with bussing our table. My friends enjoyed their meals, but we waited almost 10min for my meal to come out of the kitchen (falafel pita) after my friends all received their meals. The server walked past and looked at me three times before my friend addressed that my food was not out yet. No apology, just telling us it's on the way out in as few words as possible. When it arrived, it was cold and the falafel was over-fried but at that point I was so hungry I didn't care to complain. When we were finishing our meals, the server reached across the table with a stack of napkins, no words exiting his mouth, but direct eye contact made until we took the napkins from his hand. It was an unpleasant experience and we will not be returning. The saving grace of the evening was our ice cream treat at Pittsford Dairy!

I decided we should go for Valentine's Day! So here we are a group of 4, on Valentine's Day . Reservation was for 6 however our show ended early so we came around 5:30. Restaurant was empty except for a few people at the bar. Host was less than happy about us coming in early. We had no problem waiting. He reluctantly seats us. The waitress comes out rolls her eyes and then gives a fake smile. Maybe because our skin is brown but our money is green. Now to the food! Awful and severely over priced! We have been too many expensive restaurants that can walk the walk. Erie Grill can't even crawl. Caesar salad $25 (serves one, not an entree), chicken lollipops $16 end up being two chicken legs. The others ordered wagu meatloaf. It definitely tasted frozen. I order tuna tartar wontons (Nosh's Ahi tuna wontons would murder these) and a bowl of jambalaya (meh). It has definitely taken me one month to get over this experience. Nice hotel well that's all I can say! PS. Manager seemed to be "taste testing" booze in the back. Unprofessional!

While the food itself was fine, the service was unfortunately very disappointing. We had a reservation but stood at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes before being seated. During that time, the waitress was chatting with other patrons, which would have been understandable had our party not felt consistently deprioritized throughout the meal. Our group arrived around the same time and took a few minutes to catch up and meet a friend's newborn before placing drink and food orders. Service was extremely slow, particularly given that my son ordered a simple bowl of cereal, which arrived no earlier than the hot entrées. Our drinks were not refilled, and when I asked for additional water, I was told the waitress had another large party coming in soon. When I stepped away briefly to take my son to the restroom, our plates were cleared despite the fact that he still had food left. The staff made it very clear that we were expected to leave, even though we had only been there for about an hour and forty minutes and experienced significant delays in receiving our food. Overall, the food was acceptable, but the service toward our larger party felt rushed, dismissive, and unwelcoming. With more attentive and considerate service, this could be a much better experience.
