Stopped for a coffee and a place to work on my way to ROC airport. It was a great choice! Plenty of seating, wifi and power outlets available, and the coffee was excellent! It's a 15 minute drive from the airport which made it very convenient. I'd recommend and will come back next time.

found this coffee shop off Yelp ; close by near the hotel I'm staying at. Simple and straight forward menu... they have a variety of flavors and drink options ... hot and iced .. OATMILK!!!!! came around 10:15 am. Seems like a good place to work / study / chit chat ... barista was very kind. I really enjoyed my vanilla latte. prices are reasonable too!! The shop is huge and they have a lot of ample seating. they have pastries and other snacks in the display. I will be back whenever I'm in Rochester again :)

It's been a while since I've been to Fuego, so I decided to stop by recently while going through the Central Business District. The shop itself has nice vibes: not too crowded, good space between tables, some nice artwork, a couple plants... just very chill. It'd be the perfect spot to bring my laptop and get some work done if I was in the area more. My *go to* drink is the French Quarter, their "signature 16 ounce iced drink made with cold brew, milk, chicory and agave." (My other fave pick is "The Uncle Marble", which is a latte with agave and cinnamon.) Their drink menu isn't necessarily extensive, but it's reasonable. Very minimal selection of cookies or baked goods to eat with your coffee - it'd be nice if they had more to offer in this regard. Unfortunately, I'd also add that the staff here tends to not be especially welcoming - as others have said, they can be a bit gruff / not friendly. Given their shop contains at least a sign or two that say "Come for coffee, stay for community" (which is also on the back of their tumblers, etc), you'd think that would be the ambiance you're walking in to... but no, you probably won't be feeling that sense of community. TL;DR Decent iced coffee drinks, but a bit of a limited selection (and no pastries or much of anything to add to your drink order). Also generally lacking that sense of community that is printed around the coffee shop.

Large space with plenty of places to sit and chat or do some work if needed. There is wifi which is a big plus. We got the iced and hot chai which tasted good. Not a super sweet chai. There's also bakery items available too. Overall a really great coffee shop in the area

The ambience here is very nice. Pleasant area to do any kind of work. Although, they do not tell you the Wi-Fi password you have to ask for that. Plenty of seating and great coffee. I recommend the uncle Marble coffee.

A great place to sit and enjoy coffee. There is a good amount seating, WiFi, and excellent service when I visited. Especially love the peppermint mocha here!

Located in Downtown Rochester, outstanding coffee and espresso selection. Creative drink menu: mocha, peanut butter latte, and uncle latte. Attention to detail, quality beans, healthy menu options and great service! They also offer pour over coffee for those who prefer freshly prepared coffee drinks! There is a soft serve machine for those interested in a cold, delicious dessert.

Loved my seasonal latte!! Really hit the spot while I caught up with friends and the seating area was so big and comfortable! Study, hang out, or read a book...they have it all. Really nice barista, he changed my order for me while in midst of starting my drink just because I changed my mind at the last second. Realllly appreciated it!

Beautiful. That's how you run a coffee shop. From the greeting to the product everything was perfect. The cortado was exactly what I wanted, and the cappuccino was a work of art. I highly recommend it.

Popular hipster cafe. Lots of room but also very busy. Service was ok and there was a decent amount of food options. It's good if you are in the neighbourhood. I'd give it 3.5/5

Great atmosphere. Clean, spacious and bright. Brought my niece and daughter and they were very patient with them not knowing what to order. Very welcoming. Coffee was smooth and delicious. I had a cappuccino.

    Matcha latte

Saw Fuego had great reviews and thought this would be my chance to finally find a good matcha latte in Rochester. I think I've been spoiled by Seattle coffee and drinks as this one didn't do it for me. It was heavy on the oat milk with only a small matcha flavor. I unfortunately was unable to finish it as the flavor was not very good Service was very friendly and the inside was cute. Maybe I'll try something else next time I'm in town. I was disappointed by the matcha latte.

While the coffee is good, the Barista with the beard is rude. I can't say much, wouldn't return.

Instagram worthy seating area right inside.

While I don't drink coffee, I was purchasing nine pounds of coffee (it's a stocking stuffer in our family) for other people. It seems like Union Place typically has an excellent and varied selection of different beans, but it was too close to Christmas and they were running low on it all. My friend came out from behind the counter, and helped my navigate what was still available. I got a lot of beans, they ground them for me for the right filters (while I sat in a very comfortable chair), and I was out of there. I decided I wanted instead to give my money to a local business and have a more interesting coffee experience this morning. So, I went off the Thruway 15 minutes out of my way to try FLCR. As a resident of the Finger Lakes, I'd had their coffee before but it never really made an impression.. So, I was looking forward to the experience. I walked in and there is country music blasting... Not a hipster vibe.:) There was a crowd of old-timers in a corner having their morning klatch, which was great. I love an inviting neighborhood coffee shop, even though this is in a strip mall. I could read the sign that lists roasts available today but the names don't say much about the product, so I asked the counter person what they have available, hoping it'd be obvious that I'm not familiar with their product. She answered by stepping aside so I could read the signs on the coffee pumps. Great! I asked what their lighter blend is. She replied "Lake Blend". So I ordered that. it wasn't until I got myself back on the Thruway that I took my first sip. I have never had a weaker cup of coffee outside of a diner or a hospital situation. Even (especially) a light blend, when brewed properly, should have a flavorful profile and provide a full coffee experience. That should be the expectation at a coffee roaster, right? If I had taken a sip before I pulled out, I think I would've brought it back and requested another flavor. The service was quite impersonal and businesslike and it was obvious the counter person wasn't really clued in. Do ya even drink this stuff? The one saving grace was the medium 16oz cup only cost $1.95. I might have paid twice that for a really good cup, though. I had hoped to add a scone or muffin to my coffee order but the selection was limited, didn't look appetizing, wrapped in plastic film--never a good sign. I will say that the experience is particularly disappointing to me especially because they do roast and wholesale coffee. Why bother roasting when the coffee is made so weak so that the flavor is imperceptible?

Interactions with staff were purely transactional, no small talk or pleasantries, unlike what others have experienced. My drink was ready within a few minutes, while my food took 15. Maple Cinnamon Chai: autumn in a cup. The spices added a cozy warmth to the chai, and the balance of tea to milk was just right. The maple syrup was subtle, leaving a light, sweet aftertaste. Lovely seasonal option. Beechwood Bowl: customizable bowl with your choice of protein, cheese, and sauce. The base comes with two eggs, potatoes, onions, and peppers. I went with sausage, vegan mozzarella, and sriracha mayo. The to-go version came in a paper box with utensils. The portion was on the smaller side, but the potatoes and veggies were well-seasoned and nicely cooked. The eggs were soft but a bit bland. The sausage was finely chopped and on the salty side. The vegan mozzarella added a creamy texture. The sriracha mayo had good flavor, but the drizzle was too light to carry through the whole dish. The standout was the crispy potatoes, everything else was just okay. I wouldn't return for the food, but the drinks were memorable. I'd definitely come back for their coffee or tea.

Introduction to Western NY experience:…read more Another out of town Yelp review for alphabet series representing the letter N for N is for New City Cafe & Roastery. Last April 2024, we had gone on 2 trips, which is highly unusual. Rochester, NY was a planned trip, and the M is for Moxie 33 in Virginia was an unplanned trip 2 weeks later. There was a Total Solar Eclipse across America on April 8, 2024, which was the catalyst for my friends doing a love ceremony in the groom's birth city of Rochester and us going there in the first place. Rochester had its pluses & minuses like any place, but one of the pluses was a couple of the great local businesses we tried including Chai Guy & New City Cafe. Also, the day after the solar eclipse we enjoyed the close proximity to Niagara Falls & Buffalo. The day after that on Wednesday, April 10 was our last day staying Rochester before hitting the road later in the afternoon to get back to Maryland, which we visited New City Cafe around midday. Also, interestingly, my girlfriend & I got back from a Canada trip in early June 2025, which included overnights in Niagara Falls, ON, Toronto, & Syracuse, NY and stopping in Buffalo on way, Kingston, ON on northern route on way to Syracuse, & the Finger Lakes area after leaving Syracuse, but we ended up avoiding Rochester this time around. New City Cafe Experience: A group of us from our trip ate brunch & coffee here around lunchtime on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The staff was friendly, and the egg breakfast sandwich I got was delicious and big portion as was the Matcha Latte. My g/f & I had to go back to the Chai Guy for a Chai since we enjoyed so much the morning before; so we split the Matcha Latte. One friend in the group got their Kombucha, which he let me try, but the flavor wasn't my cup of tea, but it was still a good quality. We sat on a long bench which accommodating for our large group. The place was well decorated with various local Rochester flair. As it turns out, this was a non-profit, church ministry to help people in the local community with jobs and to serve the community with friendly customer service, providing great food/drink, & a community gathering place. We didn't know about this as a church ministry as we were just picking a brunch place within close proximity to where a lot of the people's AirBnB as they just checked out, but that's kind of cool. If I'm ever in Rochester again, I'd definitely consider coming back to New City Cafe.
