Wasted trip out in the cold to try a new drink. Also, what place of business has customers inside, ready to pay, before cleaning up has began- turns away their customers? I love this Starbucks . The staff is so friendly and the coffee is great. They serve nitro brew!! Yes, yes... Service can be a bit slow but this is a neighborhood Starbucks. It is supposed to be slow. This is a great place to kick back and enjoy your drink. More than likely the staff has put time into ensuring this is the best drink you will have for the day. Ordered a S'mores Frappuccino. The drink came out all white. I asked the barista doesn't it come with a topping? Her response - we ran out of s'mores topping; it isn't summer anymore (July 30th). So why did they sell it then? A lot of money for what was essentially a cup of whipped creme with a little chocolate. Of course I didn't have time to straighten it out. A fab neighborhood coffee house, where friends gather to enjoy smiles, stories, and also coffee. Behind the counter, Annalee offers a joke I can share with my niece; Mary, Jay and Olivia always offer a friendly hello and a smile. They know the beverages of all the regulars, like "Cheers", only they are serving coffee with the smiles. Glad they have the on-line ordering for those in a rush; but for those of us who come for more than the coffee, it is a haven from the hustle and bustle of life in Northern Virginia. Seriously understaffed for the amount of traffic they get during peak hours. They really need to have an experienced team during rush hours when the lines are going out the door. But lately, every time I've come during a busier time, it's very clear that the cashier barely knows what he's doing and is literally holding up the line. All I wanted was a quick cup of drip coffee to give me a boost on my long way home (hoping to help keep me attentive on the road). I ended up with literally a 15 minute delay when I thought I was just stopping for a quick pick-me-up. The cashier did not know how to enter different coupon codes and was also confused by the drink orders themselves as they rung up before me. I was perplexed by how multi-tasking seemed to be out of the vocabulary of the workers and with a line out the door, you'd think that they would switch staffing up. I hope they get their act back together because this is the most conveniently-located Starbucks for me! read more

I've been to many Starbucks, and this is one of my favorites. It's within walking distance to my house, which helps but that's by far not the only reason I like it. The store is about medium-sized for a Starbucks, yet I've always been able to get a table. Most seats are in reach of an AC outlet, only a couple are not. The tables are usually quite clean, and they even have a couple of comfortable armchairs. Like many Starbucks, they have substituted some seats for a long bench which is only comfortable to sit at for 20 or 30 minutes without your back or butt starting to hurt! I can't say enough good things about the staff here. They are extremely friendly, most of them ask your name, and after coming here more than a handful of times, a couple of them started actually calling me by name without asking for it. They've helped me find a fitbit that I dropped under an armchair, and gotten me new drinks when a wobbly table tipped a latte on me. Despite what some others have posted here, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes in line, maybe 8 tops, but average is probably just a minute or two. Of course it varies depending on the time of day. There are times you might want to avoid if you don't want to deal with big lines and lots of noise: 1) Morning as early as 6:30am people start to really crowd in, and this doesn't seen to let up until after, say 9am. 2) Starting ant 3:00-3:30pm or so, you have the high-schoolers from nearby Southlakes HS bombarding the place, some of whom hang out, do homework, and hit on each other. 3) Weekends, especially mornings from 8:00 or 9:00 on can get pretty busy as well. There may be other times that I don't know about, as I'm not here all the time, but this is what I've noticed. The other thing to mention is that this place has become a neighborhood hangout in a big way. There are the high-school kids as mentioned, but there's a definite "breakfast club" of a much older (as in senior citizen) persuasion, who are quite friendly and inquisitive to anyone else who happens to site nearby and peaks their interest. Luckily, then haven't started chatting me up yet, possibly because I put headphones on fairly quickly after coming in, lol. Believe it or not, this group, who occupies the one long table in the place, is by far the loudest source of noise in the place throughout the week, which is why I end up putting headphones on. This is probably the only downside that I have to coming here, as it would be nice not to have to wear headphones to drown out the noise from this table. It's possibly because some of these folks are a bit hard of hearing, or they may just be naturally boisterous, but whatever the case, they make it so that I can't concentrate on what I'm reading, so headphones end up being a must. So just a forewarning that most mornings anywhere from 7am to 10am give or take you may have to do the same! All in all, though, I think this is a model Starbucks, and certainly Starbucks can't control the idiosyncrasies of the people who come, and I may just be overly sensitive to ambient conversation that others may have no issues with. read more

This Starbucks has recently undergone a renovation. But I'm a Reston newbie and I never saw it in the Old Days. Thank god, because I like it just fine now. It has the light wood, the long benches and the many, many outlets. Good place to study. Only wish Starbucks made the tables a bit bigger. read more

Lackes up to this point I had never thought that the cafe can be such a cozy atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised here I watched as a woman to my right all the time knitting and sipping coffee. Cool heads behind the coffee bar make the hot and cold drinks at this busy suburban Starbucks. When school is in session nearby, it gets heavy crowds after school and the baristas do a superb job of keeping the lines moving and the drinks coming. It has very friendly and knowledgeable staff who take the time to make sure that you're happy with your order. As for the ambience, it is top-notch as the company has invested heavily in this Starbucks with a recent redesign that gives patrons a lot of outlets to plug in their mobile devices and laptops. What's more, it offers the Clover brewing process for all coffees, not just the reserve coffees. All of these things--the great staff, the major redesign, and the Clover brewing opportunities--make this Starbucks a winner and the pride of South Reston. read more

I don't know if this is the 3rd or 30th Starbucks I have reviewed. I can't say that anything special about this one makes it stand out among the others, but my addiction demands I tell you how much I enjoyed my latest trip to my proverbial dealer. You see, Starbucks is an addictive substance. You think to yourself that you would never spend 5 bucks on a cup of coffee and then next thing you know it's a daily trip for you. Then you set another bar for yourself "I'm not going to use those stupid names they give their sizes" and BAM you are ordering a venti triple half-calf pumpkin spice latte. But it's ok, surrender to your new caffeinated mistress she beckons and its not a crime to give in. It doesn't make you a bad person, just weak like the coffee at other places that have donuts. Become one of us, it's ok it's nothing to be ashamed of, and hey, if you get the Starbucks reward card your 13th drink is free! read more

Let's just say, the new staff needs A LOT of training. The barista sat my drink on the bar and didn't even bother to call it. I had to ask what it was to determine if it was mine. She was very rude in her reply. This was after the barista taking my order couldn't get that soy and skim are 2 different things. Dunno where the manager is but he/she needs to wake up. Hands down the best Starbucks in Reston - crushes the one at RTC. Even when the line is out the door in the mornings, I always have my coffee in my hand in under 10 minutes - probably closer to 6 or 7 minutes. The baristas are always friendly, efficient, and remember my drink. Free wi-fi and easy to connect to. Place looks great after the remodel last year. read more

I have been to this Starbucks location multiple times and have had less than par experience at best. They have messed up my drink order at least 3 times and when I politely ask them for a new drink the baristas have given me an attitude. The staff does not give off a friendly vibe and I will not be going to this location ever again. I would rather inconvenience myself and go to a different location. read more
