The food and drinks are pretty good but the time it takes for orders to be made is way to long. Even if I mobile order 5-6 mins before i get to the store I'll walk in and be standing there for another 6 mins waiting and then find my drink/food sitting on side counter for a straight 5 mins before they actually then put it on the pickup counter. All the bad reviews for this location are from years ago. The staff here is friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. My drinks and food have never been wrong...and I switch them up regularly. I don't come by this location often, but when I do it's always during rush - sometimes it's a bit of a wait but the staff are super efficient and competent and the few times I've had a drink messed up they've always remade it no problem and are super nice about it. Typical Starbucks located in a small shopping center. Parking can sometimes be annoying but it isn't TERRIBLE. This location is next to an Italian restaurant and some other little shops, so there's a nice little outdoor seating area to enjoy your drink if you want. They can get busy (like all Starbucks) especially in the morning, but the service is usually pretty good. No complaints. read more

Zero for three. This is the third time in a row that the barista did not make the unsweeten green tea correctly. Total indifference. In all three cases the barista just dumped a lot (in one case no water at all) of tea into the cup resulting in too strong tea. In all three instances I asked the barista to remake the tea - only resulting in the barista dumping some out and adding water. Three different baristas! This time the barista did not even shake the tea after adding water. When I asked for a redo, she put some of the tea into the measuring container, added water (I think hot water as the ice basically disappeared) then shook it. This needs management attention - I have to return home and remix the tea to get it closer to what I wanted. read more

After leaving the Yelp excursion to the Wing Hub and Cafe Gelato - I headed towards home. Unfortunately, traffic was jammed on the Beltway going across the American Legion Bridge, so I continued on River Road thinking I'd find some place where I could get some coffee or espresso and re-evaluate my route home options. I ended up in Potomac, MD - a burg I've never visited and found a Starbucks. Espresso! Salvation, right? Eh! Meh! Bleah! While I was waiting in line - there was this very old man standing in line behind me - with a large white card encased in clear plastic clipped to his shirt collar - that stated something like: "The Palestinians are the legitimate owners of Israel" or words to that effect. I'm thinking to myself: "Who the hell walks around with a statement like that pinned to their shirt?" Much to my chagrin - another guy in line just could not help himself and asked the old guy about it - and thus a conversation that began with the old guy holding forth about the entire history of the middle east region. Makes me wonder if he does it just so he can have someone to talk to. It was painful - I could not get to the register fast enough, place my order, and get the hell out of there. Oh, and the two star rating I am giving this Starbucks has nothing to do with my encounter with the geriatric local historian... So I place my order for a triple espresso machiatto. The guy makes it fairly quickly. Now a triple espresso machiatto has ALWAYS fit inside one of those extra small cups - with the foam and a lid on it. The Barista hands me a double cupped drink - with a huge head of foam on it - so high that I had to eat the foam off the top for fear of making a mess. As I got outside, I started drinking it - I'm not sure what the hell beverage I had - there was way more espresso in the cup than there should have been - it was almost like he poured coffee in it and then topped it with a huge amount of foam. Stopped by this location of Starbucks after visiting some folks in the neighborhood. It was quite busy on a warm Saturday afternoon. That should, however, not be a reason to not stock up on milk and sugar at the condiment stand. Running out of sugar in the raw is like no one bothered to re-stock this stand in quite sometime! So I had to ask for some sugar and milk and one of the barista hands me over a few packs of the sugar from behind the counter! Would definitely be rated real low except that my cappuccino was made well. read more

Depending upon the time of day you come in, it can get busy so I recommend using the app and you won't have to wait in line. Drinks come out just fine but if you don't like the way it tastes, they'll always redo it for you. About half of the time, I get the coffee and go. The other half I stay awhile to either get some work done or just hang out. For those times, I really wish they'd serve the coffee or espresso in a real cup. Maybe they do and I have to ask but it's be nice to have the option in the app to indicate I'm dining in. Staff are efficient and constantly busy. But if you need anything just ask and they'll usually stop what they're doing to assist. So today I ordered a reserve and it was very good. It's prepared as a pour over so when you order give it a few minutes for them to prepare it. This is the only location that I know of that offers reserve coffee with a designated area for pour overs. read more

Service used to be awful, but the place has certainly improved. The servers are super friendly and know me by name. I work in the area and they are ALWAYS kind to me. A huge step up. Only drawback is that it IS Starbucks, and I don't like supporting corporate giants who are against anti-racism and charge insane prices. I've been going to this starbucks for the past 11 years and as a gold member with lots of starbucks experiences, I should say that this one has always been my favorite. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Reza, the manager, always goes above and beyond to help customers. I usually order my coffee online, through their mobile app and there have been couple of times that due to my bad timing, my coffee wasn't hot enough and the staff have always offered to change my coffee for me though I'm sure they don't have to. Outdoor seating area is very nice, and recently renovated store looks spacious and modern. They have a new section which allows customers to pull up a stool at the end of the coffee bar and experience a range of brewing techniques including siphon, Chemex, pour-over, espresso, and Clover. One of the staff, Christy, showed us the siphon technique and boy he was knowledgeable! The whole experience took about 10 minutes and it was the best $10 I've ever spent at Starbucks. I would say the coffee was enough for four people. It's a great date night idea and I highly recommend it. We picked one of the two Ethiopian coffees and it tasted amazing. Reza also patiently answered all of our questions. Can't wait to go back and try their other types of coffee with different brewing methods. read more

The service here is horrible. The cashiers don't acknowledge you. I walked in and stod in one of 2 lines, there were 2 seperate cashiers. There were 2 customers the cashier in my line helped and when I got to the register he walked away. I stod there thinking he was making drinks. He's just standing/cleaning and I asked him of this was no longer a line. He points to the other line and says I can go over there. This is the tipper, as soon as I got out of line he proceeds to help the person that was behind me in line. Wtf? Do they not help black people in this establishment or women? Impressive new renovation ! walking in is a little difficult I think the doors are pretty heavy . Customers are a little boogie since it is potomac , but staff is great ! Ordered a turkey sandwich and a Vanilla Bean. Woman who took our order was an older nice kind woman . She was friendly to my friend with special needs . Quick and perfect ! I only order frappucions or sandwich, but my friend likes the cake pops. I don't ever come here during rush hour times i'm sure that it gets busy. But i'm glad they renovated to make it more spacious because before it was so tight and could barely walk through the aisles ! Now there's more tables , booths, and places to sit . Let me preface this by saying I'm not a coffee drinker and infrequent patron of Starbucks. I volunteered to drive to this Starbucks to pick up coffee to brew at my work retreat at Rockwood Manor (10 minutes away). I had no idea what I was getting into. I do use Starbucks as an excuse to drink chocolately, sugary coffee drinks such as the Caramel Macchiato which did not taste right at all at this location (that's where the two stars come in). I had no idea what I was doing with the coffee. There were 1-lb bags of coffee everywhere and they all had sorts of names like Ipanema, Colombia Marina, Sumatra, House Blend, Sulawesi. There was mild, bold, medium. I just wanted coffee that was....regular! I grabbed the Breakfast Blend medium because it's the closest thing that sounded like normal coffee. I get up to the register to pay and the conversation goes like this.. Barista: Do you want these ground up? Me: Huh? Aren't they already? Barista [shakes her head] Me: Okay then grind them, thanks Barista: Is this for paper? Me: What do you mean? Barista: Are you using paper, metal, for the brewing? Me: Uh, paper I guess Barista: Flat or cone? Me: Excuse me? Barista: Filter...flat or cone? I always feel like a junkie crawling to the rude dealer on the corner for my daily fix when I go here. I really, really don't like it, but when I absolutely need my Starbucks fix when I'm visiting my in-laws in Potomac, there's really nowhere else to go. To be honest, other than the fact that they serve Starbucks products and that the beverages tend to be stronger than usual (probably because they don't know how to make the drinks properly), I can't think of anything nice to say about this place at all. The staff at this place could write a book on how to provide horrible customer service. I have never met anyone at this place who even tries to pretend that they want to work here. I have had baristas botch my order, act disgusted when I asked if they included the additional shots of espresso for which I paid extra, totally forget to communicate my order to the person making drinks, and basically ignore me and what I needed while they talked to an attractive woman standing next to me. Worse yet, this place attracts a lot of rich folks who are able to sit and enjoy their entire beverage in the store itself--this isn't a bad thing in and of itself, but it results in a lack of seating during high-traffic days in Potomac Village. Of course, since most of the clientele is a bit snobby, asking people if they need the empty chairs at their table requires the diplomatic skills of Henry Kissinger. Also, the seating is laid out in a manner that ensures that you will be cold no matter where you sit in the store if it is cold outside--it's as if they did not even try to ensure that their customers would be comfortable. Today I had the worst customer service experience ever, I can't believe it but it was in a Starbucks store!! For several years I committed myself to the taste of Starbucks. During the good times it was a venti that got me running in the morning, when the economy weakened the venti turned into a tall, but I stayed with Starbucks; at the beginning on the store and lately at home as well. Today I went to the Starbucks store in Potomac Village, MD to recycle my coffee bag and get the tall coffee they give you for free in exchange, just like I did before. After four other customers I got to a lady barista that did not know anything about that deal which is printed in every single bag of coffee Starbucks sales, and when she asked the guy next to her I told them I will pay for the difference if they can turn the tall brewed into a tall late. Guess what? He said that it was not possible that Starbucks does not accept changing the beverage even if you pay for the milk you are requesting to ENJOY your morning coffee. When I tried to explain the employees that I did that before and that I was planning on paying for the difference, he got upset and insisted in the fact that Starbucks don't do that anymore. Not done yet. I told the guy that I could not believe in what he said and that I will write to the corporate offices to complain. He responded that I could do whatever I wanted!! Bottom line, I did not get my morning coffee today, I felt I was mistreated and betrayed for a company I though I was part of, and the rest of the day tasted me sour and frustrating. I can't believe I was a loyal customer of Starbucks for so many years and took my friends and family members to their stores just for fun. I won't buy a Starbucks coffee again unless I am contacted from somebody at the corporate offices with an apology, which I don't believe it'll ever happen. Truly the best Starbucks I've ever been to. I come every few days and the Baristas are just beyond dedicated to good service--they're seriously so sweet and remember my name AND order although it's always crowded. Even when I'm waiting in line I feel like I'm being attended to. Drinks are constantly perfect (and if for some reason you don't like yours you'll get an apology and a new drink in minutes). The store itself is beautiful and has an awesome Reserve bar in the back where you can get Starbucks blends that aren't available in other stores (Hawaii anyone?!) and it can be brewed in basically any style you prefer (including a siphon machine that is like a combination of a science experiment and a show). I seriously can't stress enough how good the service is and how kind the baristas are compared to other stores. Cherie and Phoenix are particularly wonderful!! read more

They employees don't even care that you're not happy, and they are rude about having to make your drink again! Such a horrible place. We stopped here the other day for a quick coffee after a great walk along the C&O Canal near Swains Lock. It was incredibly crowded and the staff seemed to move listlessly from drink to drink. Even with three people behind the counter the wait for each drink was about 5-10 minutes. At one point, they completely skipped one persons order and didn't realize it until the person finally got someone's attention 30 minutes after they placed their order. Additionally, once you exit the line with your drink you have to squeeze your way back to the front of the shop to use the milk and sugar rather than using the backdoor that leads onto a much wider and less crowded courtyard. And don't get me started on the condition of the bathroom. read more
