I'm not a big fan of cinnamon-flavored drinks, but this one was more subtle. It was so thick and richly flavored that the cinnamon wasn't overpowering for me. After a week of scorching heat, and then rain, I was able to walk over for a morning business meeting. Let's check out the menu, shall we? They have a plethora of "signature lattes" - all of which would be too sweet for desert (for me), much less breakfast. There are a grand total of zero instances in which I'd like chocolate or caramel, or chocolate & caramel, in my morning jolt of caffeine. Hard pass. Breakfast sandwiches from $12-$16. Pass. They do, however, have their own house blend coffee, which is solidly a B+. The upshot of spot is the staff, and the vibe. The former is knowledgeable, friendly, and keeps the space very tidy. The latter is kitschy. If you're going to hang one portrait in your spot, (the late) Tony Bourdain is a super-fine pick - James Dean of the culinary world. And why not have a a Mona Lisa with the face of Rowan Atkinson in the loo?? It would have been easy to give this spot 3 stars, but someone's sentimentality/sense of humor matches my own. To wrap it up, the Republic is a fine option if you're out and about. It's perhaps not a coffee destination, but definitely a cool place to hang, have a casual meeting, or bring a date. I would always say I wish they had more locations closer to home so I'm happy to see that they're expanding. Even though they're new, people got wind of their opening. On a Sunday afternoon it was packed. The wait wasn't too long and service was good overall. I tried the lavender haze iced macchiato. I enjoyed it. This is one of those drinks that probably taste better iced. There's ample indoor seating and a few seats outside.

Once I let it cool, it had a citrus taste, but not sweet. I am still glad to have tried it and did not have to wait long for the order. Within a block of leaving the business, while holding the hot cup with one hand (the sleeve only helped a little), some of the hot tea spilled on me suddenly (I now have a burned scar on my knuckle). I don't know if the cover was on right, or if my movements made the top come off. I couldn't blame anyone. I did go back and had them replace the top since the other fell on the ground outside. When they say "hot" tea, they are not lying. Moving forward, no more hot drinks for me.

Not too sweet and tasted more like a custard creme than egg. I couldn't stop drinking it even though I could feel the caffeine coursing through me.
