I've been here a few times for breakfast, and it's become one of my favorite spots in the area. I usually order takeout, but the café itself is so cute that I'd love to sit and eat there one day. They even have a nice outdoor seating area, which makes it feel especially inviting. I almost always order the smoked salmon on toast, and it's consistently delicious. As for the drinks, I tend to like mine on the sweeter side, so they're usually a little less sweet than my preference. That said, I actually appreciate that they don't overload them with sugar - it's easy enough to add a little sweetener myself. It's definitely a bit on the pricier side, but the quality and atmosphere make it worth it. Overall, it's a great breakfast spot, and I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

TL;DR: aesthetically pleasing, but food/pastries/drinks were a let down Finally got to try maman after always wanting to try it. When you first walk in, the interior is very cutely decorated. There is plenty of seating inside and outside, as well as some communal tables. They have an extensive menu of drinks and food, including a case full of pastries. Service was fine. Coffee came out first, but then our food did not come out for ~20-25 minutes. FOOD: Pastries: Overall, the flavors were okay, but the technical components and textures were way off. ~Nutella beignet (1/5): I would not call this a beignet, but just a donut. It was dry and dense, and the Nutella filling was minimal ~Kouign maman (2.5/5): the flavor tasted normal, but it was not flaky or crisp on the outside and papery on the inside. Hard to cut into and not crumb-y ~Brown butter croissant bar (2.5/5): again, flavor tasted like brown butter with a little bit of cinnamon, but the pastry was flimsy and soggy. ~Croque maman (2/5): I assume this was a play on a croque monsieur. The cheesy crust on the top of the bread was hard as a rock and tasted burnt. The filling to bread ratio was off. There was like maybe a teaspoon of bechamel. Flavor did not deliver. ~Chicken Caesar wrap (2.5/5): It was fine, but underdressed again. There was no cheese or croutons or anything. Just chicken and lettuce and like 2 slivers of pickled onions. This place never ceases to amaze me with their new creations that I must always try. Today, besides my favorite pistachio chocolate croissant I left with two seasonal baked goods. I have not tried them yet, but I will update my review when I do. First up is the blueberry lavender brioche wave ($6). It looks like a kouign maman , but it's filled with blueberry lavender jam. The other pastry I took home was a cherry croissant cube ($6) filled with "sweet and tart homemade cherry jam". I wasn't a fan of the pumpkin version so hopefully this one will be better because I do like cherry jam. I was lazy because of the dreary day, but I guess so were other folks because at the end of the day today they still had lots and lots of tempting pastries in their case. Very cute inside and a good amount of seating. Okay Range of pastries. The s'mores square was decent. There was chocolate mousse inside. The strawberry citrus couffle was also decent. Beautiful cafe and great presentation of food, sadly doesn't taste as good as it looks. There are a few seasonal specials with Martha Stewart collaborations. I've been here twice and disappointed both times. The weekend hours are a bit odd as the kitchen sharply closes at 4pm and the staff isn't that friendly. I ordered the Avocado Tartine. While the Avocado Tartine looked like a beautiful and vibrant work of art, it was all show and no substance. It's cringing there's an upcharge for a sunny-side egg for avocado toast (reluctantly paid for it! ) as well as the herbed feta (I passed on the feta cheese). The avocado was under ripe and the toast was burnt on the edges. While I appreciate receiving 2 large pieces of toast, it wasn't worth paying over $15 for such a simple dish poorly executed. The Shashuka weekend special was okay, and wish it came with warm whole wheat bread. The Papa's Bowl was overloaded with home fries and not enough eggs, avocado or sauce. The Martha Stewart Pomegranate Punch (non-alcoholic) and the boozy Rockaway Rhubarb Daquiri were both good. The S'mores cookie was the best part of the meal! I had a wonderful birthday brunch at Maman earlier this month. I got the Audrey's turkey sandwich and my husband got the Martha Stewart's greek salad sandwich with roasted chicken. Both were fantastic and a good size! The restaurant is beautiful inside with floral decor and it has great seating outdoors. Everything on the menu looked delicious. The food take a little bit of time to come, but we were comfortable with the outdoor seating. Sometimes it is a little hard to fly down a waiter, but not too bad. Water is self-serve. The restaurant was busy on the weekday for brunch as it is located in the popular Bethesda Row. I would like to try more things at this location or another one! read more

My first time coming here. I gravitated towards the baked goods - saw the Nutella Brownies and Nutella Beignets. I'll have to try those on a future visit (can't go wrong with Nutella). The definition of savory and balanced, the cheese was a perfect companion to the rich veggie flavors and was more than enough food for one person, even as a main dish. Elisa's Bowl seemed okay...nothing bad but nothing to write home about, either. ...we did see what looked like a Cuban Sandwich pass by to another table and that at least LOOKED quite good! Their bloody Mary mix is premixed from a bottle and seems to be spicy off the bat. So my request for less spicy meat they gave me less mix. ...which felt a little tacky when the glass showed up 3/4 full (and after our food had arrived). At seeing it, I asked for more mix and some limes to round it out. It was slightly spicy but honestly not bad. Overall, the experience was definitely worth the wait and I'd definitely go back again. Their theme is floral blue and white - plates and cups, menu, wallpaper, and even their coffee machine was wrapped in their signature floral design. They have an abundant selection of pastries which are nicely displayed. There are indoor and outdoor seating as well as a back cafe to order to go. I was looking forward to lunch at the Georgetown DC Maman, as I had a wonderful tuna with arugula on a baguette last year. This time, that wasn't on the menu, so I ordered the wild smoked salmon on a croissant with lemon cream cheese. What I got instead was a smoked salmon salad -- essentially a hunk of raw salmon on greens with some greasy hash browns. No bread of any type. I went back to the counter and said I was supposed to get a croissant with this. He said bread is extra and rang up $5..50 (!) for a piece of bread. I said well I can't eat this much raw salmon without bread and I'm not paying $5.50 for bread so please give me my money back. He refused. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

Very cute and homey cafe in Bethesda. Ordered an almond croissant, the waffles, as well a the avocado tartine with a fried egg. We arrived a little before the kitchen opened so waited a short amount of time before the food arrived to our table. Presentation wise -- 10/10. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the corn in the waffles (my boyfriend's selection). As for the tartine, it tasted as expected and the portion was generous.
