This place never ceases to amaze me with their new creations that I must always try. Today, besides my favorite pistachio chocolate croissant I left with two seasonal baked goods. I have not tried them yet, but I will update my review when I do. First up is the blueberry lavender brioche wave ($6). It looks like a kouign maman , but it's filled with blueberry lavender jam. The other pastry I took home was a cherry croissant cube ($6) filled with "sweet and tart homemade cherry jam". I wasn't a fan of the pumpkin version so hopefully this one will be better because I do like cherry jam. I was lazy because of the dreary day, but I guess so were other folks because at the end of the day today they still had lots and lots of tempting pastries in their case. Beautiful cafe and great presentation of food, sadly doesn't taste as good as it looks. There are a few seasonal specials with Martha Stewart collaborations. I've been here twice and disappointed both times. The weekend hours are a bit odd as the kitchen sharply closes at 4pm and the staff isn't that friendly. I ordered the Avocado Tartine. While the Avocado Tartine looked like a beautiful and vibrant work of art, it was all show and no substance. It's cringing there's an upcharge for a sunny-side egg for avocado toast (reluctantly paid for it! ) as well as the herbed feta (I passed on the feta cheese). The avocado was under ripe and the toast was burnt on the edges. While I appreciate receiving 2 large pieces of toast, it wasn't worth paying over $15 for such a simple dish poorly executed. The Shashuka weekend special was okay, and wish it came with warm whole wheat bread. The Papa's Bowl was overloaded with home fries and not enough eggs, avocado or sauce. The Martha Stewart Pomegranate Punch (non-alcoholic) and the boozy Rockaway Rhubarb Daquiri were both good. The S'mores cookie was the best part of the meal! I had a wonderful birthday brunch at Maman earlier this month. I got the Audrey's turkey sandwich and my husband got the Martha Stewart's greek salad sandwich with roasted chicken. Both were fantastic and a good size! The restaurant is beautiful inside with floral decor and it has great seating outdoors. Everything on the menu looked delicious. The food take a little bit of time to come, but we were comfortable with the outdoor seating. Sometimes it is a little hard to fly down a waiter, but not too bad. Water is self-serve. The restaurant was busy on the weekday for brunch as it is located in the popular Bethesda Row. I would like to try more things at this location or another one! read more

So the place and decor are super cute. Their menu seemed a little disjointed but definitely a few things I wouldn't mind trying. Our server had "no idea" what the quiche was. I had to send it back TWICE to be heated up- like just put it in the microwave already! Packed packed packed for a Saturday morning (~10:30/11am). Every seat in the restaurant (including the counter) was occupied. The community tables were very fitting in this old world, European-countryside-feeling restaurant. Once seated, service was decently prompt. Food notes: The Ratatouille w Sunny Eggs were amazing . The definition of savory and balanced, the cheese was a perfect companion to the rich veggie flavors and was more than enough food for one person, even as a main dish. Elisa's Bowl seemed okay...nothing bad but nothing to write home about, either. ...we did see what looked like a Cuban Sandwich pass by to another table and that at least LOOKED quite good! Their bloody Mary mix is premixed from a bottle and seems to be spicy off the bat. So my request for less spicy meat they gave me less mix. ...which felt a little tacky when the glass showed up 3/4 full (and after our food had arrived). At seeing it, I asked for more mix and some limes to round it out. It was slightly spicy but honestly not bad. Overall, the experience was definitely worth the wait and I'd definitely go back again. I recently scheduled a business meeting at Maman, hoping to both get some work done, and scope out this case del caffe. It's got a vibe to it. A little feminine for my tastes, but that's subjective. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and free wifi. Cool. But its a coffee house, so how's the java? I have to be honest, dear reader - the coffee is unremarkable, and the very lite breakfast fare is very overpriced. Literally we could not have had a worse experience here. First of all, the restaurant was SUPER busy at Saturday brunch time, so we were looking forward to good food as it seemed to be a popular choice. After a 20 minute wait, we were seated - inside was a bit crowded and very hard to hear someone sitting literally right next to you. I got the Salted Tahini Honeycomb Latte, which was actually really really good - creamy, sweetened just right, a little bit salty. Unfortunately, the good stuff ends there. I ordered the Maman's Breakfast Sandwich without bacon and a side of potatoes. One of the blandest, most boring sandwiches I have ever had the misfortune of putting in my mouth - no seasoning, not even salt. The potatoes were somehow even worse - not even crispy, topped with microgreens for no reason whatsoever besides maybe aesthetics, and again not even a whisper of salt or any other seasoning. I had to drench mine in salt and pepper at the table. They also forgot the red peppers in my father-in-law's omelette, which by the way also had no flavor. Finally, the reason I wish I could give this place 0 stars and forget I ever ate here - there was a GIANT cockroach wiggling under our table, which we were alerted to when our server came under my feet to kill it. Absolutely disgusting. To make matters worse, the manager was less than helpful, and kind of shrugged his shoulders saying there wasn't much he could do - even though we had already eaten half our meal and did not feel like touching the rest. I was walking in Bethesda and looking for a latte. I wandered into Maman and was mesmerized by the beautiful interior. It looked like a beautiful garden. I was drawn to the pastry counter, which held a lot of delicious looking treats. My friend, Libby F. has raved about their pastries. She has good taste. Service was excellent. Their theme is floral blue and white - plates and cups, menu, wallpaper, and even their coffee machine was wrapped in their signature floral design. They have an abundant selection of pastries which are nicely displayed. There are indoor and outdoor seating as well as a back cafe to order to go. We ordered lattes which came beautifully in their blue/white cup and saucer. The latte was good. My friend had the pistachio croissant and she said it was good as well. Simply fabulous! I ordered a latte, a pistachio croissant, and an avocado tartine. The flavors of the coffee and croissant were incredible, the presentation of the avocado tartine was amazing, and the hospitality from the food runner, baristo, and cashier was phenomenal. Staff were courteous, friendly, and efficient. No wait in line to order, I paid with the InKind app, was handed a table marker, and took a seat. The only small gripe I have is that the toast had to much onion that it overwhelmed the taste. The ambiance is cozy and visually stimulating. I've been to Maman twice. Very chic cafe. On my first visit, I tried their square croissant with cream and the round croissant with a brownie nestled in the middle. Both were good--just needed a quick warm-up to bring out that buttery goodness. But the real star of the show? The Elderflower Spritz! This drink was perfection--refreshing, light, and beautifully balanced. In comparison to the other cafes, this is my favorite, because of the food and the service. The employees are upbeat and have a friendly disposition. I've been to other comparable cafes and the employees look so glum that you feel like you're troubling them when you put on an order! Now onto the food! You really can't go wrong with anything on this menu, but if I had to choose, I would recommend the Quiche Sarah and the Kale Caesar Salad.
