I was really hoping to love this restaurant but mostly just liked it. The highlight of the evening was absolutely the pandan Thai cheesecake, which had a pancake-like consistently and a tangy cream cheese flavor. It was outrageous! The mango toast was fine, but the toast was just toasted bread and not like a French toast or anything special. The appetizers were okay: the wings were super expensive for the quality, and the egg rolls didn't wow me.

This is a very well designed restaurant. It would be a great place for hosting something like a book club or hanging out casually with a group. You can order on a kiosk which makes paying very easy. The mango sticky rice and Thai tea I tried were pretty good, not great. I think they could work on making the food more flavorful or drop the price a bit. Overall, I do think this is a nice spot and there's not really another restaurant in Bethesda that has such an expansive hangout area that's well suited for larger friend groups.

    Thai Tea Lava Toast

Had a Pandan latte which I really enjoyed and had a perfect balance of flavor and sweetness. For food I got the Thai Tea Lava loft toast which is supposed to be like a French toast. I didn't enjoy the toast itself much as it was too crispy and dry. It wasn't soaked in a batter like a French toast is which is not to say that a Thai toast must taste like a French toast. But the toast was lacking in flavor because it wasn't soaked. The Thai tea came as a sauce on the side and had a nice flavor so I think the overall taste could have been enhanced if the toast was actually soaked in the tea lava. As for the ambiance, it's cute but not very cozy. My friend and I sat outside and even though the view is that of cars driving by on the road, it was a beautiful sunny day. I would like to give it a 4.5 but that's not an option so I'll go with 4 stars. Overall the experience was good but the food was a disappointment. I will definitely come back here for the Pandan latte and maybe try one the bakery items.

Advertised as a cafe though offers more than your typical baked goods. Spacious & beautifully decorated with fresh flowers. My friend and I ventured here for dinner after seeing a show at the Round House theatre. Lovely place to catch up; next time I'll come back to try the Wonton Noodle Soup. I loved the shrimp makaam, the shrimp was indeed crispy and came with a side of rice. My friend wanted to get the Matcha Cloud Coconut drink though they were all out of coconut water. Great portion sizes and welcoming staff. Well done! +Shrimp Makaam-crispy shrimp glaze with tangy tamarind sauce, garnished with fried shallots, broccoli, Thai chili, cilantro +Massamun Curry-2 tender chicken drumsticks in rich coconut, potatoes, peanuts & pineapple +Strawberry Matcha +Thai Tea

This Silver Spring standout has expanded to Bethesda. It is a nice location near the metro, and a big space to eat in. The menu here includes not just the sweets for which they are known but a whole brunch menu. The vegetarian options aren't huge, but I was able to get some fried tofu to get me some protein in addition to my characteristically indulgent ice cream toast. And if you haven't had one of these things, you're missing out; the honey butter toast is a fantastic mix of sweet and savory and a beautiful presentation; mine had fresh mango slices arranged as a flower. This is the sort of thing that's hard to find done well in the U.S.; this is the rare occasion where I felt like I was having brunch at a top quality Australian cafe (I haven't been to Thailand). A rose matcha was a mild but mouthwatering way to wash things down. Furthermore, I indulged in the case of desserts to go and got some fantastic tropical fruit creations to give to others. This place even offers a small vegan and gluten free dessert selection. I try so many new places it's rare that I'm a regular at any one place, but I've been to the original Sweeteria several times and given that this one is bigger and better, I suspect I'll be back here before too long.

I went here with my friend in the rain after we ate ramen. This place is very friendly with the cutest drinks/desserts. The waiter helped pack the iced coffee I ToGo'd and handled my drinks with care. It's not too sweet and got the perfect coconut flavor. My friend got the Rose Matcha, and it had a mini flower on top. It wasn't overpowering the matcha. The interior is so cute, and very big. Their desserts look hand made and everything looks so clean!

Walking around Bethesda, we stopped at the Sweeteria for dessert and wound up sharing a Pinky Lychee (lychee flavored slushy) and a Mango Sticky Rice Loft Toast (fresh mango, homemade coconut sticky rice pudding, mung beans and mango cream). It was great - a huge plate with mango slices arranged like a rose atop a crunchy square of toast, and a scoop of ice cream along with sticky rice. The lychee slushy provided a nice crisp bite against the smoothness of the dessert. If you're looking for a great little spot for dessert, drop in to Sweeteria!

A soothing and cozy space a short walk from the Bethesda metro station, Sweeteria has an expansive menu and attention to detail I took note of. The strawberry matcha had fresh strawberry puree, distinct layers, and a delicious cream on top - more on the dessert side of matcha drinks, and delicious. I had a plain scrambled egg on buttered sourdough that was carefully folded and seasoned (easily the plainest dish on the menu, but still prepared with care). It's a relaxing place to study and service was prompt.

Lovely calm retreat in the middle of Bethesda - came here on a Friday night and there was plenty of comfortable seating. Everything was hot, extremely fresh, and prepared with care. The custard buns were a delight! Just the right amount of attentive service in the dining room too. There are seating options for large groups, couples, and singles - and an expansive bar area. Bathrooms were sparkling clean. Great for a date or a little treat!

Went today with a friend for brunch. Very kind people working there who answered my many questions! Very beautifully presented food and very tasty! Nice interior too!

Super friendly and helpful staff. We wanted to change our order after using their takeout screen and they were very accommodating. The iced thai tea was incredible and only $5. The cake was yummy too. Despite the name, they serve dinner, lunch, and have a bar. It is a cool space go check it out!

Salmon with Thai sweet chili sauce and fried basil. Steamed broccoli and Riceberry and a matcha latte

Cute and fun place next to Lidl. Huge space, nice seating. Food was good. I had the salmon with Thai sweet chili sauce and got the riceberry instead of white rice for $3 more. Matcha latte had sweetened condensed milk in it which made it very yummy. Desserts looked great but I didn't try them. Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely come back!

This cute little spot was exactly what you want on a cold day. The space feels warm and inviting, and the service was absolutely outstanding. We tried a mix of savory and sweet dishes, starting with the roti canai and veggie spring rolls - both were incredibly delicious. For dessert, we finished with the mango loft toast, which was so good. Not overly sweet, with a really nice balance of flavors. To drink, we ordered a jasmine tea and a strawberry matcha. The tea was solid, but the strawberry matcha (modified without the syrup) really stood out - perfectly balanced and not too sweet, with great strawberry flavor from their house-made sauce. Overall, I'd absolutely come back to keep exploring the rest of the menu!

There were a few seasonal items that captured a spring aesthetic. Everything was packed well and we were out quickly. *Carrot Cake: one of their seasonal offerings and my favorite of the bunch. It was not the moistest cookie, but it tasted the most balanced. There was a subtle sweetness, although I would have loved to see more elements of a traditional carrot cake highlighted, such as raisins or warm spices. *Cherry Scone: reflective of the fleeting cherry blossom season. My party was split on the texture, with some disliking how dense and heavy it tasted. I personally did not find it dry or overly crumbly. The cherry flavor was light, and it colored the dough nicely and paired well with a darker beverage. *Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip: subtle coconut shavings with barely noticeable caramel. The chocolate chips were by far the most dominant ingredient and flavor. Apparently one of their classic flavors, but it was my least favorite. I was actually more impressed by their seasonal offerings, which is disappointing since those rotate out. Their classics are popular for a reason, but they do not feel refined enough to justify the pricing compared to other bakeries. I would not mind splitting a cookie with a friend, although I would not go out of my way for one.

There's seating inside, but the seating area is pretty small and some people were at tables looking like they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. It was a nice morning, so we were able to grab an outside picnic table. The service was decent. One disappointment was when the counter person asked me if I wanted room for cream in my coffee, I said yes and asked if they had nondairy products. She said they had almond and soy. I asked for soy and she returned with my drink. When I went to pay, I saw they charged 79 cents for almond, soy and oatmilk. Ok. Here's the thing. I assume it's on the board and I should have looked, but she also could have mentioned it. Also, charging for these items when they put a little in your coffee leaves me feeling like I'm being abused for not being a dairy person. I get it - it's a pastry shop and the items are buttery and rich from cream. But please - 79 cents for a little soy milk? (I know this isn't uncommon for coffee shops, but it doesn't make it right.). And the coffee ($4.25) was decent - not great. I expected better (richer, more flavorful) coffee from a nice pastry shop like this. Anyway, it's a nice neighborhood place and there's a lot of treats there.
