Speaking of first stops, I definitely recommend coming here first as soon as they open because it gets insanely busy. We got here two thin the first ten minutes of them opening and there was already a line of people and most tables were taken. It can get impossible to stop here later in the day. The staff were nice, but busy, and it can get chaotic in line because they have two registers that can take your order so unfortunately my friend was cut in line but was still able to order. Apple Barn - frozen pies, pastries, apple cider, fresh apples, Christmas boutique Country Store - filled with jams, jellies, fudge, chocolates, and great gift ideas Nature trail - visitors are able to choose between an easy trail and a not-so-easy trail. We chose the easy trail but I think they are both easy. Flower trail - unfortunately our visit was in early November and we missed when the flowers were in bloom. September would be the best time to visit and check out the colorful zinnias. Free to access. Gem mining - daughter has enjoyed this activity in other places since she was little. She's 23 now and still has fun with this experience. There is a fee for this activity. We stopped at several places during a day trip up to Apple Hill, and this was by far our favorite!…read more It's a large property, starting with a you-pick pumpkin patch (in the fall) and a shop that sells apples, juice, and some random souvenirs. Behind the shop is a large open area that has goats, pigs, ducks and chickens (all fenced in separately - see pictures). You can buy food to feed the goats, who are really friendly. There is also an old tractor and tire swing, great for the kids to play on. Past the open area are the bakeshop and lunch area, where we found the best selection of lunch food in Apple Hill (every other place just had BBQ burgers and hot dogs). We had a (huge) turkey leg and BBQ chicken breast sandwich, plus homemade apple coleslaw (delish!). After lunch we indulged in apple cake and apple-blackberry-sour cream pie, which were both delicious. They have tons of picnic benches and tables, so even though it was a busy Sunday in the fall, we easily found seating for both lunch and dessert.
