First, over Christmas by the holiday market, this Starbucks removes all seating tables and closes the restrooms. Holiday spirit not so much. I understand they don't want people using because it may have to be cleaned. I guess seating would mean people hanging out to get warm. Seriously not ok! Really I get they are also trying to not allow the occasional unhoused person come in. And the employees lack any cheer as well. They are down right rude, abrupt and could care less. This is a quick review since my group only ordered drinks and quickly left. However I can say I was thoroughly impressed with their speed and efficiency! It was a very chilly Light Up Night and the first time I believe I've visited this location. You could see from outside how long the line was and we hesitated on going in, but were pressed for time before the next Christmas tree lighting event. Once inside we realized the line, which practically began at the door, was moving along. It appeared to split up ahead and the one line was thankfully for people just using the restroom. As we inched closer I noticed perhaps 6-7 people furiously working behind the counter, including the manager. They took and called out completed orders in the same way as any other day and never appeared agitated or worn out. I'd be surprised if we were there longer than 15 minutes for our two venti mochas. As we left a delivery man pulling two carts full of milk gallons arrived, proving just how busy they were. Very impressed, good work team! read more

I had a wonderful experience at this Starbucks. The line was very long but when it was my turn to order the cashier was amazing. He suggested a delicious drink that I have not had before and located two "Been There" series mugs for me. The Autumn Shaken Espresso was delicious ! This is by far single-handedly the worst Starbucks I have ever been, in Pittsburgh and probably in forever. It deserves zero stars if not negative 5. Very slow and very rude service here they go out of ingredients literally by noon at some point they had to make me wait 30 minutes to brew new coffee, who the hell runs out of coffee at Starbucks. They have a sign that says bathroom is only for customers which makes sense, but then they would not provide the bathroom door code to a paying customer. Dirty floors stained tables, never cleaned or wiped down, bathrooms from what I remember in the first visit were absolutely disgusting, dirty, toilet seats, and floors with floor spills The countertops near the line order would have milk and other dairy spills not wiped down regularly. Probably the health department needs to pay this location a visit for sanitary reasons. . I personally would not come back here again, and I have been here a couple of times both of them equally as bad and they think they can do that and treat customers in a horrible manner because they are Starbucks. The good news is this is a Market Square downtown, so there are a ton, a lot of other coffee shop options much better than this dumpster . read more

This location tends to get pretty busy, and it's easy to see why. These folks really take care of the space so that customers feel comfortable, cozy, and welcome. There's always at least one barista at the ready to whip up your drink while another takes your order. They do an excellent job mixing the drinks thoroughly and rapidly, so I never have had to worry about anyone messing up my order or half-heartedly throwing together my drink when it gets busy. They know what they're doing and it's super refreshing! They keep the area warm and clean, which makes for the perfect refuge during those blustery winter days. They even light up the fireplace to add to the atmosphere. The baristas have always been polite and helpful to me - one fellow bookworm even asked me about the book I happened to be holding. Although parking would be a nightmare just to get here, I'd say it's worth stopping by anytime you're visiting Market Square! read more

I like this Starbucks very much. Great location right in Market Square. Big Starbucks with lots of seating. The baristas were very friendly and worked very quickly. I ordered a venti latte and it was made perfectly. It can get a bit crowded as it was when I was there, But the baristas work fast and the wait is not bad. The only negative is also the positive which is the location, The negative part is the parking can really be a chore to find. But that is not on Starbucks. There is a ton of places to go in Market Square and Starbucks should be your first stop. read more

This is the worst Starbucks I've encountered. The bathroom is never available. All of the seating and tables have been removed because there's been violence in the area. Typical corp. store Starbucks downtown with the youngsters running it. On their dumb phones doing who knows what? These socialites are disengaged from any kind of meaningful efforts. Anyway it's about a 6 min. walk from the Wyndham Gateway hotel. Expect a bum or two along the way or just outside their store. Geez. They seem non-threatening though. They also looked capable of finding a job. The one good thing is they opened before the hotel's lobby Starbuck's contractor kiosk. The Hot Americano coffee with the extra espresso shot was good as it should be for over an expensive 5 bucks. Keep in mind, Starbucks doesn't allow you to get your paws on their condiments as they had used to. You have to ask for every damn thing. I think that this costs them more money this way. Starbucks is Starbucks, but here it's all about location, location, location. Tucked in a corner of Market Square, it seems fitting to have a Starbucks on the ground level of a law office building. I mean, built in customers, right? I came by this shop multiple times and there always seemed to be a healthy line. I stopped in for morning coffee post-run and made it through the line quickly and had my nice hot usual dark roast drip in a jiffy. Great service, good Starbucks quality. read more

Had my wife order two breakfast sandwiches for takeout for me in the downtown Pittsburgh Market Square location June 19th at 11:43. They took her order and told her where to stand at the counter to receive the order. Instead of delivering the sandwiches to the counter they left them with the girl at the register who did nothing. Finally about 20 minutes somebody asked whose are these and the girl at register said that woman's down there. They had never asked for her name or given her a number or called out what was in the order when it was delivered to the cashier so it sat there until it was cold. These may be new employees hired post COVID but that is no excuse for such poor training and lack of customer service. read more

Okkkk....so I have been gone for awhile...(few years) and I return to this beautifully designed Starbucks! This location has been renovated to perfection! More seating, great atmosphere, and the fireplace even received a facelift. There's even a code now to use the restroom. This busy Market Square location has always been a favorite gathering place for my husband and I! So many fond memories have taken place at this location. Our favorite seat has changed dramatically! However, I'm pleased to say that service of my favorite barista's has remained unchanged. I plan to visit this location way more often since I'm back in the Burgh for awhile! I met a friend at this STARBUCKS location on a Saturday afternoon. It was clean, warm, and inviting inside. There was a steady flow of people while we were there. I really like this location because it's in the middle of Market Square but it's also kind of tucked away at the same time. The only issue I have is that it took a little while for our drinks to be ready (I ordered a matcha latte and my friend ordered an iced coffee). If you're in a hurry, this isn't the location I'd chose to go to. Other than that, I had a great experience. read more

This is a great downtown Starbucks location. I currently work about a block away and usually go here. It gets extremely busy and, although the baristas are very efficient, they can only do so much, so the line is sometimes pretty long. It's pays to take advantage of the mobile ordering function on the app here. All of the baristas are super friendly and I've never had my order made incorrectly here. It's a fantastic location near lots of restaurants, offices and other downtown events and activities, right next to the open seating area in Market Square. They have a wonderful seating area indoors as well, including cozy furniture and a fireplace. Great place to have an informal meeting. I also like how they visibly support the local community with an area for posting event flyers; today there was a board with a listing of upcoming downtown events that I didn't recall seeing before, and that adds a lot of value for both locals and tourists, not to mention the businesses putting on those events. read more

Recently, however, I have been made aware that two customer-favorite and hardworking employees of over 3 years have illegally been terminated for practicing their civil duties on their own time. Unfortunately, the environment at this location now feels much less welcoming. I cannot see myself visiting this location again until there is a positive reinstatement of the wonderful employees that this Starbucks location unfortunately and wrongfully lost. read more

This store gets points for being conveniently located by lots of downtown restaurants and businesses though it is a bit out of the way as you have to go in market square and turn the corner to find it - it is a bit tucked away. It loses a star because elf how tiny it is! It is so small! When you go in the counter is in the right and you have to go tot he back to order and then wait by the front doors for your drink or for pick ups. This means that there is always a crown around the doors. There is also only minimal seating to the left side - not a lot at all for a Starbucks. read more

Sorry, not sorry, if you have a job where you work on Christmas Eve and don't like it....quit! I'd fire every one of them and hire new people. Really don't even know how that happens. The staff is friendly here though and the location is great. The are at least 3 other Starbucks within a few blocks of this one; go to any of the others. The Market Square cashiers are not friendly. Most recently I was not greeted, but simply stared at. Before I ordered I said "how's it going?" Her response was to continue staring at me. After I ordered and scanned my app she didn't say thank you or say anything to indicate that the transaction was over. Let's be honest. It's Starbucks: we know exactly what we're getting when we walk through those mermaid-clad doors. So this review is more about the location than the store itself. And this particular location is MAGIC! Why? Because it's located in the highly-sought-after market square. There's always so much happening in the center of the square, and as if that wasn't reason in-and-of-itself to visit that Starbucks, it's location offers a short walk to most of what Pittsburgh has to offer: market center for outdoor seating, the Point for panoramic views of the city/three rivers, North Shore for the water steps or sports games, any selection of quality restaurant for a post-java lunch or dinner, and many many more places. It's my favorite Starbucks to grab-go-and-explore. The location is electric. read more

This is a nice Starbucks. It's usually pretty busy but its the only in the downtown area currently. I love that they have almond milk now! I love chai tea lattes, hot apple spice and their tazo teas. I came here on two separate occasions and it was the same lackluster experience by different baristas/cashiers. Firstly I asked about one of the reserve coffees. I simply asked what it's like and I was told 'I dunno, I can ask somebody.' She then proceeded to tell me she likes regular coffee and that's it. I responded with a don't worry about it and ordered another coffee drink. Round two: So earlier in the night I visited this Starbuck's. I placed my order within 30 minutes of closing time. I walk to the pick up area and 8 minutes goes by and I notice the barista making drinks out of order. My drink is simple. It was a grande Clover coffee hot. So I look at him and he apologizes for not remembering to make mine with the cup sitting on the bar for what is now 10 plus minutes. All during this time, he reminds the customers in store at least twice by checking on his phone first and then announcing that the store will be closing soon. He didn't look stressed. I've seen stressed. Like when Starbuck's runs the frappe specials. He just didn't seem to care to keep the orders going. He was already ready to hang up his apron for the night. read more
