Getting all the pumpkin cream chai before winter season
Amy C.

I stopped by here yesterday after work to get myself a little pick-me-up. I know the pumpkin season is almost over as they're releasing the winter drinks soon in a couple days so I'm trying to get as much of the Pumpkin Cream Chai before it goes bye-bye. I ordered via the mobile app, and when I pulled up to the telecom...the staff member said "Wait just a second" twice within a couple minutes from each other, in which I replied "Okay." Then she took my order which is just picking up from the mobile app. I pulled up to the window, and waited for about 3 minutes before someone opened the window. I can tell that this Starbucks location looks brand new. Maybe they're still working out the kinks... I'm not sure. I ordered grande drink and they placed it in a venti cup? Maybe they ran out of grande cups? Lol.. My jalapeno chicken pocket was pretty tasty, but I felt like it was pretty flat/missing on some filling.

i finally stopped by and been 3 times already. I love that its a drive thru. I havent been inside but this is my experience from drive thru. The location is easy to access and clean. Ive went at different times and its never a long line. They get my order correct everytime. They open at 4am. So far my favorite drive thru location. Today I ordered the egg pesto and it was heated perfectly.

someone's random drink

I went twice. Day one: I ordered a cinnamon streusel pastry and a venti iced water, waited 15 minutes, and realized my pastry was never put in -- they comped me a $4 gift card. I came back today to use it and try a viral Shirley Temple + coconut cold foam drink. Day two: my Egg Pesto Mozzarella sandwich arrived looking like a whole mess -- green paste smeared on the outside of the bag and inside the packaging -- and overall customer service felt neglected and scattershot. The parking lot here is D‑grade engineering. If you drive, plan to get stuck: the drive‑thru line snakes so far out it can block parked cars (see photos), which is dangerous and maddening when you just want coffe. I usually photograph random orders for future drink ideas because the community gets creative, but sloppy service and presentation here override any curiosity. If you're trying the TikTok viral drink, order it like this: venti cup of ice + a Shirley Temple Poppi (cherry Poppi) + a cup of coconut cold foam on top. Cute in a cup, but not worth the hassle of this location. Fix the parking flow, order accuracy, and basic bag presentation and I might consider a re‑visit -- until then I won't be back.

this location is crazy man. yesterday i got an iced blonde vanilla latte and it had a lot of coffee grounds in the drink. today i wanted to give them another chance, i got a strawberry açaí and... yeah this is hella gross. kinda sad seeing this considering as a former starbies partner and i would never give a customer a poorly made drink like this. customer service is crap too, they be rushing when the drive through is empty and don't even stop to listen to what i'm trying to order.

Banana cf matcha.

I took one sip and realized there is more cold foam then matcha in my drink. Wtf is this.

Drinks finished in that amount of time

I like to look for new spins on lattes to see what barista's are whipping up to make things unique. I came in thinking I was going to get a basic latte, but the Borgia Mocha caught my eye! I asked the cashier if it was a good choice and she recommended it. I was a little unsure how the two would blend and how much orange they would use in it, but it came out amazing! Honestly probably one of the top 10 unique mocha's I have tried and it was delicious! I loved the burst of refreshing orange that complimented the chocolate. The flavors danced on my tastebuds like two separate flavors that blended together as one. Each holding their own note that added value to the drink making it unique. I was instantly impressed and wish I found this on more menus! A classic mocha with a refreshing twist of orange was a pleasant surprise! I'm so glad I stopped in for a pick me up! I also loved all the art on the large walls and there looked to be plenty of tables and seating for people to eat and work at.

Cons: can be a pretty busy spot, not the most consistent, the specific beans I like aren't always available. Notes: Thought I had written a review here a while back as they are a part of my post Oakland airport tradition. My routine, fly into to Oakland, drive to Moussaka for lunch (rip the former chef/owner and restaurant), head 2 doors down to Zocalo for coffee on the ride home. If my flight was extra early and Moussaka was closed still, Zocalo was more than good enough to fit my food and coffee needs.

Neighborhood Coffee is one of my favorite cafes in all of the Bay Area. Just don't tell anyone…read morebecause I want it to be one of our best kept secrets. Shhhh...! (It was worth the 13 mile drive for me.) With floor to ceiling windows welcoming in the comfort of daylight and warmth of Californian sunshine (thank you A/C), this cafe sits high above Castro Valley overlooking the distant hills and the bay, depending on where you sit. It's in the front space of a church and upon walking in (my third visit), I feel held by the Lord. Strangely, I'm feeling tears well up because this is the exact sort of space I've been needing as I go through some challenging life circumstances. It is peaceful here but it also has a vibrant community energy on a Thursday late morning. This space is welcoming to all of the bay are community and if you didn't know it was a church, you would never know. It's for the whole neighborhood and beyond. There are tall round tables, bar tables, normal round tables, armchairs at tables, long barnhouse style tables. This space was thoughtfully curated to allow for relationships to be grown, work to be done, and quiet time to be experienced. The Americano I had is nice and strong (whoowee... I'm awake now!). They had interesting drink options and some baked goods. Prices were average for the Bay Area. I love that the cafe supports community outreach. From the web, it partners with this church and community programs. It seems to operate around community support and social impact initiatives. I love that they actively support Inclusion & Autism awareness and medical debt relief (WOW!). This is a cafe that is doing it right!

Service just ended so a lot of cars were leaving as we arrived. Don't recommend getting in line right after service because I waited over 30 minutes just to get two drinks. The lavender lemonade was very refreshing and not too sweet. The matcha latte on the other hand tasted watered down, so I could barely taste the matcha, super disappointing. It was a nice and sunny day so we decided to sit outside. The inside was very spacious, but I was overstimulated from all of people talking, especially when I was waiting in line. A good spot to stop by to grab a drink and enjoy the view outside if you're in the area. Glad I meet the time to check this place out.

The Marketing Trap is Real (But the Service is Great!) I had…read moreabsolutely no intention of stopping by Peet's today, but their marketing team definitely knows what they are doing! I got a "spend $6, get $3 off" promo in my app since it had been a while, and it lured me right through the door. My goal was to stay as close to that $6 mark as possible to practically get a freebie. I originally ordered a large drink and a pastry, but when the total hit $12, I had the barista knock the drink down to a medium to save a few bucks. After the discount, I walked out spending $8. Sneaky marketing--they got me to spend money I hadn't planned on! For my order, I tried the Iced Lavender Vanilla Matcha. Unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite and didn't quite hit the spot, so I only drank about half of it. I also grabbed a Lemon Blueberry Danish. Now, I have a personal rule about "open-air" pastry cases--if food is sitting out all day, it's an open invitation for gnats or flies to dance all over it! Usually, I prefer when they pull a fresh one from the back wrap counter. When I noticed the barista pull mine straight from the display, I asked her about it. She was sweet and assured me everything was fresh and they didn't have a gnat problem right now, so I decided to take a chance since she was warming it up. Sadly, the danish wasn't very delicious either, and I only ate a few bites. Even though the food and drink were a miss for me today, I still love coming into this Peet's. The atmosphere is always so incredibly calm and peaceful, and the baristas are always so friendly, upbeat, and polite. I'll definitely be back for my usuals, but I'll probably pass on the lavender and the display case next time!

There is a tiny eat in place. I usually buy their red bean bun, coconut twist, and white Chocolate loaf (Of course they are the best when freshly baked, however, they stock up well in freezer). Guava cheese pastry has guava jam inside. Not much filling but the flavor is quite strong. No cheese to speak of. Mango custard bun smells strongly of mango but the flavor is more subtle. It's mango all throughout though. Coconut bun was by far the strongest flavor, really generous amount of creamy custard coconut filling. Matcha red bean roll is filled with whipped cream. It has the green tea flavor but it's very subtle. The red bean is few and far between. The choco bun was chocolatey, with a pudding consistency of filling. The bun had a cocoa flavor. Strong flavor of chocolate throughout. The Hokkaido bun was filled with whipped cream which was unexpected. Underneath the cream is some sort of white bean paste The cream filling is like a really good hostess filling. It's self serve. A lot of similar places have you grab the pastries with tongs, but here they put them in plastic which is a relief in terms of germ spreading potential. Line went quickly. Tons of options. Tons of savories too and lots of drinks. They were constantly replacing and bringing out fresh pastries. They did so 3-4 times in the 10 mins we were there so you know when you go the pastries won't be stale or old.
