I've been to this Starbucks in Long Beach a few times now and it's always been a solid experience. Shoutout to Liv--she's consistently friendly, patient, and easy to talk to. On my last visit she was on register and made the whole interaction smooth, even when I had a small issue with my payment. She stayed calm and didn't make it awkward at all, which I really appreciated. You can tell she actually cares about customer service and creating a good vibe. I don't think anybody ever comes to yelp for a Starbucks review. So this is mostly for management. I call this: JUSTICE FOR GONZO I had the absolute most awkward Starbucks experience of my life.... Customer Service experience in my life. I wanted to crawl out of my skin. I'm assuming Gonzo Is new. I'm also assuming there's a rule at Starbucks that you are placed at your station and can't leave it? This guy Gonzo had to wash a cup because a customer wanted her drink in her newly purchased cup. Poor guy was fighting for his life trying to figure out where the sink was and how to use it. He's asking everybody for help... not only did they not leave their station, they were kind of giving a attitude on what to do. There was even a lady standing next to me who worked there. For some reason, she was straightening up the food in the front of the register. Directing orders on what he should be doing. Instead of getting behind there and helping him. As much as I love coming here for fresh brew coffee. Some personnel have their days upside down. Yes, we understand your day is not going well, but please don't put the frustration on the customer, especially to the one coming in with a smile and asking how your day is coming along. My experience that day was awful, but I kept a solid face and was polite the whole way. Even put a tip in the cookie jar. No thanks whatsoever. It's okay though, tip was for the coffee make. I was excited that day because of their season cup giveaway when you purchased a holiday drink. What I ordered was, Drinks: 1. Grande Ice Peppermint Mocha: brightens the holidays: signature Espresso Roast with coconut milk, sweet mocha sauce and peppermint-flavored syrup, topped with whipped cream and dark-chocolate curls. Oh man, that was so delicious and refreshing. Having you feeling good early in the morning. Im glad this is the season to enjoy. You gotta try it. Especially during the season of joy. Well the minus 2 stars has nothing to do with the employees. The minus 2 stars comes from bad management of the property they rent from. There have been homeless people LIVING by the parking lot sign for over 3 years - which is why I never come here. I live in the neighborhood and walk. I hate walking by their 'camp'. Thee years + really? And no manager has called the property manager to report the problem and have them vacate? The trouble is I was scared to death this morning by these inhabitants'. As I was walking past their encampment - the regular old guy comes skids directly in front of me and throws down his bike to run over to two other of the homeless guys beating each other up by the trash bin. I started walking faster to get into the Starbucks door and one of them runs after me to ask me ro buy him shoes and follows me into Starbucks. I really loved this Starbucks. I was greeted immediately when I walked in, and I was greeted by the nicest employee ever. I also got my drinks super quick, and I was able to get another cake pop after mine dropped. I don't recall the employee's name, and it upsets me because he was so sweet. I do remember he was wearing a Gengar Pokémon mask. I usually have trouble speaking because I think faster than I can speak so I stutter a lot, and he was so patient and kind. My birthday cake pop dropped out of my bag, but he was sweet enough to give me a new one for free. I would definitely come here again though, the parking is a bit hectic, but it's a nice place. I don't know why I keep giving this location a chance. They have proved too many times that they don't know how to make coffees. Today was it for me. First off, girl taking the order looked like she didn't want to be there. I always try to be polite, smile, use manners and so on. I was met with icy indifference. I get it, work sucks sometimes, but you work with the public and need to act as such. I work with the public too so I get it, but come on. Way to make me feel like I ruined your day by coming in. The drinks: for me, a tall skinny blended vanilla latte and my husband, tall brown sugar shaken espresso, blended. We waited for around 15 minutes before we realized that the two drinks on the counter were ours. Why didn't we realize it? Because not only was the name on the cups wrong, but it didn't look like what we ordered. My latte was double blended which I didn't ask for. It looked pulverized. I wish I had taken a picture. The taste was of clumpy, bitter water. One of the most disgusting drinks I've ever had from a SB. The barista defended the drink saying he made what I ordered. I said, "well, it tastes wrong". I wasn't giving him attitude, but I was frustrated obviously. I just had this drink a few days ago and it was delicious. But I'm wrong, right? He offered to remake it or make something else. But in my mind, what's the point? If you can't make coffee anything else will probably come out bad too. It was also clear he was annoyed. My husband's cup said "blonde espresso" and it was not blended. Barista again defended the drink and said it was in fact a brown sugar shaken espresso, but not blended. So he blended it. Husband said his also tasted bad, very bland and bitter. Burnt coffee taste. Both drinks went in the trash and we walked out. Waste of time and money. The taste is a delicious ten stars. Not too sweet and a rich espresso flavor. The price is laughably high for me $5.45 for 16 ounces. The nutritional information also makes me reconsider ordering this despite being only 120 calories. It didn't keep me awake as afternoon coffee often will even with 255mg caffeine. I hit this Starbies on my way back from running Signal Hill on Thursday mornings. I figure I deserve a treat after destroying my quads on Stanley, Skyline and Temple. The customer service here is 21/10, they're always so friendly and jovial. What actually prompted me to write this review was my experience this morning, 11/18/21. I patted myself on the back after placing a mobile order earlier than usual so my sweaty and stinky self wouldn't have to wait too long. When I arrived to a jam packed parking lot and Starbucks, I was like "wtf mate?" I quickly realized that holiday-themed travel cups were being distributed to patrons who ordered specialty drinks, and apparently everyone wanted to get their hands on the coveted red cup. It was madness and people were asking about their orders, but the gal manning the drink distribution was amazing. I would've been easily overwhelmed in her situation - fielding "where's my drink? where's my food" inquiries while yelling names out and preparing orders. She was friendly, energetic and extremely helpful to everyone. I just wanted to be her best friend. JOCIE (apologies if I didn't spell the name correctly) deserves 1000 stars and a giant raise. This starbucks has some friendly workers but a lot of them can't seem to handle the business. They constantly turn their app off so people can't order ahead because there's "only 2 of them" but that's not even the worst part about this store. They often give me the wrong drink usually switching it to something cheaper. Sometimes I wouldn't mind if you ask or explain to me that you are out of an item but don't lie to my face when the other work just said you were out. Then tell them how "to make my drink" while I'm still within ear shot. It's a problem because I drink my coffee black so I can taste the diffrent roasts and if it is drip or americano. If I got a latte or something like that I could care less because they all taste the same (liquid sugar). I called corporate about this and they listened to me explain the 3 times I caught them changing my drink. Their response " That is a very serious issue, Can you please call back in a few hrs. The customer service and professionalism here is non existent. I've been stopping here about every morning for the past year on my way to work. They never had much customer service which I didn't mind too much I always ordered on the app and went straight to Mobil pickup when I got there. Today like every other day I asked for a water along with my coffees and a tray. The barista just stared at me and scoffed rolled her eyes and loudly went to speak to her coworker about how she hates having to get waters and how they either have to get a self service machine or start charging us. They both talked loudly about it so myself and other customers could hear. She then came back slid me a tall (not venti like I asked) water and quickly turned around it took me a minute to get her attn so I could ask her again for a tray for my 4 drinks. I really liked the convenience of this coffee shop but if this is how they treat longtime customers then I'd rather take my business to another local coffee shop. Again I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Maybe last time it was a bad day for the staff. So there are 6 of waiting in line for around 7 minutes while the lady taking orders is also made to cook the food orders also. What kind of manager or regional manager allows such business practices to effect the customers experience. So I ask the lady behind the counter who the regional manager was she said Taj but he or she is new. So regional manager I hope this gets fixed if not I need the customer complaint line to corporate?
