If you are a Starbucks mug/tumbler Collector like we are, this is a MUST go stop for you! They have every Hawaiian collection specialty mug that I've seen posted online in the last 6 months! We went to the OGG airport one and they were all picked over. And to our delight, this one was well stocked and we had to look no further. In fact, the biggest problem was that there was too much to choose from! They even had some Hawaiian collection tumblers on sale/clearance. Loved the mugs we chose. One of our best souvenirs from the island. On top of all of that, the staff was absolutely wonderful. They were so patient to answer all our questions, ring us up and tell us about their mug collection. read more

Needed my coffee fix. Stopped in and ordered 2 toasted white chocolate mocha. I'm getting my fix now, I won't be able to get this back home. Yes, it just as delicious as my first in Waikiki. I've been coming to this location every time we come to the island to visit. Great location easy to get into the parking lot and easy exit. Was a bit busy and the young man behind the counter had trouble with loading up my card. Good thing I asked for a recipe and later was able to clear up the issue with the manager. I have never left a review like this before for any establishment no matter how poor my experience may be but this will be a first. I have spent way too much money in Starbucks from the time they began till now. In fact, I still have my original old gold card that they used to give out to the coffee addicts, i mean "enthusiasts" as myself. I have lived through a bunch of wrong or poorly made orders through the years, but it happens so no big deal. But today it just really struck me as so rude when I ordered a venti cold brew and while I like it straight up, when I tasted it I just thought, maybe a little sugar today would be nice. I realized there was no simple syrup available and knowing that the raw sugar packets take a while to dissolve, I kindle asked if there was any simple syrup available, even just a little? And I was met with an attitude of annoyance, disdain, and hesitation as she then proceeded to tell me "we normally charge for that". Wow. Okay, well I quickly said that I didn't know that and never mind, it's okay I can use the packets. I even apologized for asking because I honestly didn't know that and certainly didn't realize such a simple question would cause such a reaction. Even then, she barely acknowledged me. It wasn't busy, I was the only one she was helping at that moment and they hadn't been opened long, so maybe she was having a rotten morning or something? But it was just so rude that it honestly shocked me. I can not explain how rude the girl was making coffees was. I placed an online order at 9:32 am. It said ready at 9:45. I showed up at 9:55 (traffic was nuts) the drink was there but no sandwich. I stood there for a minute, and the gal Making coffee looked up may me and said yea?? I said I am missing a sandwich. She said "I'm sure it's coming" I waited a few more minutes and asked if she mind checking for me because people that where ordering at the counter where getting there sandwich. Ahhhh the first cup of my day always starts with a cup from here. The flesh Venti Americano with room is the ultimate pick me up and I always need it. I venture to this location for it fresh Java in the wee hours of before dawn and the morning view of the Palm tree's and ocean while sucking up the smell fresh ocean breeze through my nostrils while lounging on outside deck. The barista was super rude to me for making me feel small because I picked up the wrong drink. She bossed me around by pointing to where I needed to set the cup back down at. With an irritated attitude too. Rudest barista I've ever encountered at a Starbucks. Being from Seattle, I am very accustom to the friendly and kind people. The checkers were fine. Just the main gal who blankly stared at me as if she was pissed I would dare to talk to her. I'm not sure if she is aware that we often talk to the main barista when they face the customer. It's a Starbucks so what's to say, right? Wrong...because not all locations are made the same. I live and work in Kihei, so I have two locations to choose from. I drive past the other one just to come to this one. That should tell you all you need to know, but let me tell you why. 1. It's never as busy as the other. I will note that I only started frequenting this location during COVID, so tourists aren't a concern. Even still, doesn't seem as busy as the other Kihei location. 2. Easy in and out location. Yes, it's located in a "mall" (word loosely used here) but there is ample parking and its not too hard to get back out onto S. Kihei Rd. 3. My drink is ALWAYS right. ALWAYS. I stress this because even a simple order is frequently incorrect at other locations. This in and of itself won me over. This location could be in the middle of a war zone and I'd probably still choose it for this reason alone. 4. The baristas and staff are friendly. There is only one employee that isn't as "bubbly" as the others but that individual isn't rude and is still efficient. If the only complaint about an employee is "least bubbly" that's a solid team. 5. They do have plenty of space for both social distance waiting (COVID times) and seating (pre-COVID & hopefully post-COVID). Seating indoors and outdoors is appreciated and I'm looking forward to the day I can drop by for a cup of coffee and get some work done. Remember when that was a thing? Honestly, this review was likely not needed. If you're a Starbucks person, like most people you probably find the closest location to you and go there. Located in the front of the shopping center with a movie theatre. We were coming in for a breakfast sandwich for my toddler. We got in and found a line of three other patrons in front to order. A line of about two waiting for drinks. Two employees working the whole store. It took us about 15 minutes to get up to order at the counter. We might have been faster to order on the app. The cashier was cooking the food and the barista was the one making the drinks. The staff was friendly to those coming in. I always order the same old thing whenever I go to Starbucks. Venti Café Vanilla Frappuccino with caramel walls and soy milk, no whip cream. It's just a vanilla bean with coffee in it. Super sweet which always satisfies my sweet tooth. I don't know if it's just the employees or if it's actually supposed to be made like this, but sometimes whenever I ask for caramel walls they just put on top of the drink. Like today. I like having them on the sides of the cup that way as I drink; some gets through my straw. Not a big deal, but preferred. They should also consider doing paper straws. A lot of people hate them so it'll push people to bringing their own reusable straws or buy one of their cups. You can buy super cheap ones at TJmaxx or amazon. Consider it. As have operated and managed a Starbucks franchise I know how hard it is to find good staffing especially with resort type jobs stealing neighboring help. I have been coming to Kīhei once-twice a year for over 20 years. I love the laid back vibe of Kīhei and the general aloha most locals offer. I remember when this Starbucks opened, it was a bummer to see more corporate b.s. on the island, but I happily patronized it because at the end of the day it stimulates the local economy. Over the years, I've seen a decline in the quality of baristas both in ability and attitude. The other day, I asked the barista for the straw-less sip lid and he told me they didn't have any. I saw the lids right in front of him to the left, but he didn't even look. I politely said, "aren't these them right here?" He just grabbed one and handed it to me. I said, "thanks!" And smiled but he didn't even look up. Then this morning, my drink was made missing key ingredients and when I politely asked the female barista if she wouldn't mind adding the missing ingredients for me, she simply took the drink from me, added the ingredients, then handed it back. Once again, I cheerfully thanked the barista and received no acknowledgement in return. Everyone makes mistakes, I get that- in fact, I was a Starbucks barista myself a few years back, so I am extremely kind and understanding when mishaps happen, but I'm tired of the negative attitudes at this location and the general lack of "aloha" here. These are just 2 examples from the last 4 days. I could keep going from my experiences the last 6 months, but you get the picture. Get it together Kukui Mall location. You're in paradise. Otherwise, there are too many fantastic local coffee shops here on Maui to waste precious caffeine consumption at Starbucks, if you ask me! For this specific location only!!! I'm not a coffee snob, nor do I pretend to be. I simply went along with a friend, who was craving Starbucks coffee and who comes to this location frequently. Being that I was there, I decided to order a Frappucino. The place was not that busy; the usual people on their computers, sitting around. There was a family of 4 standing in front of us ordering. Everytime they ordered something, it seemed as if the Barista would tell them they don't have something or was unable to process the order. After literally 10 minutes, they were able to order what was available! Although there were 3 Baristas there, only one manned the cashier, while the other one appeared to be gathering trash and the 3rd made the drinks. Next up to order was my friend. I was next and a lady walked in about 12 minutes after we first got there. As my friend placed his order, the Barista making the drinks walked up to the lady behind me and took her order. Apparently they knew eachother and the Barista then walked back to her station, made the female's drink and handed it to her. I was dumbfounded! Sure she didn't ring her order up in front of mines, however, wouldn't it have been just as fair to make my order for me as I waited and allowed me to pay just as you did to her?! I'm pretty sure if the roles were reversed and I was the Barista, you would have been upset about this type of customer service, simply because I knew the person in line! Once I was able to place my order (Vanilla Bean Frappucino) and got it, it was watered down, compared to what I've had at other Starbucks locations. Very discouraging and definitely not a Starbucks that I would visit again. If this Starbucks is independently owned, the owner really has to address this concern. If that has happened to me on my first visit, it's almost certainly happening more than that! Even though the Barista's may know some of these customers personally or from repeat visits, this type of unintended rudeness would definitely make me not want to be a regular! And forget tipping!!! Very nice store! :D More efficient & friendlier at this location compared to the Starbucks in the plaza off of Piikea Ave & Liloa Dr. The baristas here seem to know what they're doing and understand what visitors from the mainland want, despite how complicated your drink order is. The interior cafe area is somewhat spacious but most of the chairs will have someone sitting in it, feeding off of the free Google wifi (no more AT&T). The outside patio is big, and you'll most likely see a dog tied up near the front of the store every time you walk up to the store. Don't forget to leave a tip for your baristas! You can do so on your Starbucks app now! If you tip your bartenders to open an overpriced bottle of beer for you at night, I'm sure your baristas deserve it much more as they make your complicated drinks in the morning. ;) read more

We have been living in Kihei for 7 mos. i have health issues and order the same drink 2-3 times a week. I no longer will pre order or may just not go to this location as the barista in the am with the long blond hair worn on top is very rude and doesn't follow the stickers. 3-4 times I have watched her make my drink and when she calls my name and I let her know it was made wrong she huffs, tosses it and acts like it's a huge inconvenience to make it correctly. Sorry but gal you didn't follow the sticker and I can't help my dietary needs. Isn't Starbucks about catering to the customers order?
