Although I like coffee bean and tea leaf better than sbux, this has to be one of my favorite Starbucks on the island. I like it because it's a lot quieter than any of the Starbucks or coffee shops in the surrounding area. I love all their fall drinks but my new addiction is the Caramel Brulee latte, which they make consistently perfect! I've been coming to this Starbucks location a lot more often than I normally do because it's on the way to the mall when I go for weekend or weekday Christmas shopping and I know the lines won't be as crazy as the Starbucks in Alamoana or Ward. Another thing is the staff here is awesome! I came in a few weeks ago wanting something other than coffee so one of the baristas recommended the chocolate chai tea latte but he told me that it's way better hot than cold but I was really wanting something cold. I really like this Starbucks location. It's convenient since it's on my way to work. The staff is always greeting people and very friendly. This location does get busy, but they do get orders out in a timely matter. When I say "light ice", they do give me 'light ice'(not like some other locations). read more

Pretty standard starbucks, with a lot of seating on barstools and counters. They weren't crowded at all, and there seems to be a lot of parking for this location. This SB has multiple personalities. Depending on when you go, you might be happily assisted by a friendly and competent barista. At other times, they're slow, unorganized and just not friendly. I would go as far to say that they seem like they hate they're job. Last night (3/30/18), the workers were just downright unfriendly around 9:30pm. Brand new Starbucks that does not look brand-new......guess they wanted to give the rustic loft space look. Awesome that they have another location on a major street/blvd.. Even though the place was new, it was crowded at 9am on a weekday (do people work?). Baristas were trained and competent......and of course they had everything a Starbucks has. When I arrived to the store, I was the first one in line. I ordered my drink and the cashier was really nice. I went to the end of the bar to pick up my drink.......about 12 customers later...no drink. I went back to the cashier and asked for a refund, one of the guys offered to make my drink right away but I refused because I had been waiting long enough. He asked me what my name was and proceeded to look for my drink. It was still with the young lady that made it. I was standing front and center, no one called my name...its hard to look over me I'm black. I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks in general, b/c I tend to prefer more locally-based businesses, BUT I do stop by once in a while, if someone wants to meet up there or I have to use a gift card. =) That said, as far as Starbucks-goes, this location seemed to be super convenient (on/off Ala Moana Blvd), parking was easy--though it might get crowded during meal-time, with Highway Inn right next door--and I liked the atmosphere, very laid-back & unpretentious. On the downside, the service here was a little disappointing, as it took almost 10 mins for me to get to the register, & there were only 3 people in front of me. =( And when I finally got my venti spiced rootbeer, literally 3/4 of it was filled with ice. There is no available wifi in this location for another few weeks according to the employees at the store. Workers are efficient, they get drinks right, and do it accordingly with Starbucks standard practices. They are also friendly and accommodating. Majority of the seating on this Starbucks are counter and high chairs. There are some regular chairs and tables in the middle. I don't particularly find the high chairs comfortable so I wished they would have added more regular chairs and tables when they designed this store. Brand new Starbucks on the corner of Coral Street and Ala Moana. Frankly I prefer independent coffee shops like Fresh cafe or Insomnia, but this one is pretty conveniently located from my condo so it gets bonus points for walkability. Lots of parking. Great location in the bottom of 680 Ala Moana in Kakaako, which is a new dual use condo/commercial complex. I'm really glad that the area is getting developed with additions such as this, Hank Haute Dogs, Taste, Whole Ox and other new commercial venues. The store is spacious and has a great open format. Lots of great seating with couches and bar stools. There's also covered outdoor seating which is a plus. Not crowded or annoying like the Ward location. I'm sure this will be a regular hang out of the medical students from nearby JABSOM, but it definitely will be my go to Starbucks. read more

I came to this one on August 24th. I had no idea this place even existed until two of my friends said they were at Starbucks by kakaako. I missed it a couple times because of bad directions. I like this place. It's large and spacious. Only downside was I didn't get my drink 5 minutes later because my drink was sitting on the other side of the establishment. Fast, friendly, delicious. Great big space for reading and meeting over coffee. I love the bar seating so lots of people can sit alone with their computers. They even have a bigger communal table where you could sit with 6 of your friends. How cool is that. I work on a cruise ship that docks here every week. Starbucks is our usual hangout for Wifi and food. Between bottled water, coffee, and food I spend about $20 here weekly and spend about 1-2 hours here. This afternoon I plugged in my laptop to find that the power to all of the outlets was turned off. Nice location, new so it has a new look and feel. Same great 'burnt' coffee taste! I used to work at Starbucks and didn't drink coffee for that whole year, not bc of the taste but bc I wasn't a coffee drinker back then. Anyway... People think the coffee tastes burnt, it is just the style of roast. So this locale, has nice decor, free WiFi, and all the other things you can expect from a Starbucks. First and foremost, these guys are really fast and friendly! Every time I come here, it is always packed and the line is long, BUT I'm still able to leave within 5-8 minutes! It's pretty incredible! Like I've mentioned before, the staff is always friendly from the cashier to the barista to the person changing the trash at the condiment station! The parking lot is pretty spacious, but it can be a tad confusing to find if it's your first or second time coming to this location. If you're coming from the airport on Ala Moana Boulevard, you need to turn left on Keawe Street and then make a right immediately into the parking lot. It's the same thing if you're coming from Diamond Head except you will be turning RIGHT onto Keawe. It comes up really fast so you might miss it (I did :P). Overall, I've only had good experiences at this location and even though I love the other Starbucks location that's only about 5 minutes away from this one, this 680 Starbucks is so much more convenient! There's a good vibe here. It's spacious w/ chairs and tables aplenty. The staff is friendly. Customers are a mix of students and professionals. In fact, the place has the kind of a community meeting place feel that would please the original Starbucks partners. The downside is limited parking. I requested a dark roast coffee and the gladly did a pour over cup for me. I'm here all the time. You know it's often when the baristas start anticipating your drink order when you walk in...and usually get it right. It's actually really impressive, and is a good testament to the quality of service, since I only started coming to this location about a month ago. This Starbucks has an interesting parking situation, since there's some construction going on, but it's fine if you just pay attention to the signs. I like this location best because it has the most seating: lots of bar-style seats along the perimeter of the store, tables in the middle and comfy chairs at the front! Plus some outdoor tables, which are usually occupied. There are lots of outlets, too, which is helpful since there are days I camp here for several hours. read more

It's always hard finding a Starbucks that I actually like. Whether it's the consistency of my drink is not right, the workers are slow in making my drink or it's just horrible customer service. But I have to say, I love this Starbucks the most. This store is located at the corner of Coral Street and Ala Moana Blvd; better known as SALT. They're in-between Moku and Lanikai Juice, with a small little parking lot upfront. That parking lot is not the best, as it's only one way in and one way out. So make sure to thoroughly check for open stalls or anyone leaving as you'll easily find yourself at the exit gate already, and then will have to either re-loop around or go into their parking garage or try to find street parking. The first hour is free, but if you're planning to stay longer than an hour, make sure to ask the cashier to validate your ticket and check the sign for the additional charges for each hour you're there. I don't frequent to this store on the daily, but I normally come here on the weekends or holidays. And luckily, even on a weekend, I rarely find it busy. But when there is a long line, the workers are pretty quick and knock out orders like nothing. Some stores should probably take notes from them. The one person that sticks out to me the most is Topher. He was actually a Starbucks manager at another store that I went to everyday for work, but since that store closed down back in 2014, I haven't seen him since. But one day when I went into this store, we saw each other and he still knew my name and order! Impressive! Til this day, he still greets me by name every time I step foot into the store and already has my drink started before I even get to the cash register. On my last visit, my boyfriend and I came to SALT to finally try Moku's for lunch, but didn't realize they didn't open until 11am. So we went to Starbucks to grab coffee and just chill. The workers here were so engaging and made the effort to get to know us and see what we were up to for the day. In addition, I love how spacious their store is. Been coming here on and off when other coffee shops are closed. Service is so so. Understandable with minimum wage jobs....but you are working a customer service job, provide some 'customer service'. Today I was given a chai tea with coffee or something sticky stuck all around the cup. I was willing to ignore it and get a sleeve but there were none to be found. The workers are just indifferent which is fine if the coffee/tea served is adequate...which it is not hence the two stars. I like this location for a quick run in to buy coffee on the way to work. I really wish I had taken a picture so you could have the laugh that I had when trying to dress my coffee with cream and sugar. I ordered what I always order there, Grande light ice coffee just black. It's quick as usual but this time I picked up my coffee and brought it to the area to add my stuff in, opened the cup and was greeted with an ice block of about 12-15 ice cubes stuck together. I started to smile as if it was a joke that someone would play on their friend for asking for light ice. So I threw it in the rubbish and added my condiments in, closed the cover and put my straw in, but was immediately rejected. My straw just folded in to 3 pieces because of the amount of ice. I was about to scoop the ice out with my hands but figured I'll just ask her to fix it. I walked over and said "this one was light ice" she said oh ok and poured in about 3 millimeters of coffee in the cup saying "here you go". Grabbed my coffee and walked away speechless. This is one of the 3 or 4 Starbucks we regularly visit here in Honolulu. We like the seating arrangement they have come up with and the staff picked up on our names and order after just a few visits - so we feel "special" - not all the places we visit do that - adds a nice touch. Outside seating is rather noisy due to the proximity to Ala Moana Blvd. - but if you go around back - it's very quiet - just no chairs. But parking back there with the doors open in the evening is pretty cool (pardon the pun). Although this location is fairly new, the baristas' are well trained and have it together :-) If you're a newbie to this location, getting in and out of the parking lot can be a bit of a challenge in the morning if you miss the arrows on the pavement. You're supposed to enter on one of 2 available side entrances and exit by driving around back - some do and some don't - those that don't can jam things up - but no worries - I'm sure that after a while things will smooth out and parking problems will become the exception, and regulars will rule the roost. Also, if you sit in the front corner chairs, you can get a cool view of the big cruise ships coming in to dock - it's not an open clear view - but cool non the less. P.S. IT's CLEAN! read more

Surprised this starbucks is only 3.5 stars because I've never had anything but outstanding service. The orders are always accurate and timely. The line can get a little bit long but with their app that makes it so much faster. There is always a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. It's also quiet and very easy to do work. read more
