It's a large café with plenty of space, offering a mix of sofas, chairs, and good focused lighting. A great spot for meetings, studying, or casual meet-ups. We ordered the cold brew with pistachio foam and an iced caramel macchiato with salted caramel foam. Both were delicious, just as you'd expect from Starbucks. Service was quick too. They farted in my mocha and it gave a little bit of spice. It was probably the best mocha I've ever tried. Period. Service was 5 stars. Ambiance was great. There was coffee beans on the wall and people could pick them off and grind their own coffee with it. I love the kung fun gym as well. Kids were sliding on a slide to the dishwasher section and doing dishes for them. The kids were tickling the prep workers feet and brought the mood and ambiance up. Upstairs was the hot pot section and there was a delicious coffee broth with nutritious proteins, vegetables and more! Definitely coming back. I hope that loitering policies become more frequent. Although, my order was right it rather was not enjoyable. Two men came in and didn't purchase anything. Okay hey proceeded to sit next to me even though there were multiple vacant seats. They did not stop making making obscene references and gestures and disruptive to the point of harassment. I usually don't review chains for their food, because the food/drink is pretty much the same at every location, unless for some reason a location is astoundingly bad. This one is not. The fare is standard, and it's a nice place to work. The tables are super small, though, so not a good place for group study. read more

For me, this is easily the most dependable Starbucks location in the Chapel Hill area. It's within walking distance from my place, which is great because it allows me to get a coffee without compromising my diet plan. Enough about me, though. Today, I walked here about an hour ago along with my dog companion. Already being about 80 degrees outside, I was a little disappointed to find that the AC was not running very powerfully, as I was very sweaty, but who cares. Surprisingly, this place was very crowded for 8:30 AM, as it is usually empty, so I had to wait in a 15 person line before I was able to order. Luckily, the very friendly and expedient staff managed to work through the mob quickly, as I was ordered and out with my Iced Grande Latte within 6 minutes. A grand total of $3.92 after taxes may be a bit expensive for a 16 oz beverage, but with the high quality and dependability on display at this location, you could definitely do worse (go to Caribou Coffee and see what I mean). All in all, I highly recommend this location, as it earns a very deserving 4 stars out of 5. Quick Tip: For the optimum experience, I'd recommend getting drinks to go, rather than dining here. When busy, it can be very loud and crowded, which is not great for conversation or doing work. read more

Everyone was really nice especially Danielle and I know they have a lot of orders so I appreciate how fast they got the orders out the only thing that I wish is that they have let me know that the item that I ordered on the app was sold out (it didn't say it was sold out on the app when I ordered) so that I wouldn't have stood there waiting with my drink for like 20 minutes. I had to stand in the line and ask the cashier if it would be ready soon rather than them calling out the order name to say that it was sold out. Service-wise, this Starbucks is good: the baristas are absolutely fine and get drinks out quickly. Unlike other Starbucks though, this one is ill-prepared for the free-wifi switchover. There look to be about 4 total sets of plugs on the side wall, seats that are usually either taken up by people who want the nice chairs or someone doing actual work (and reaching a cord over the nice chairs is inconveniencing for those people in the nice chairs, especially if someone happens to be in the one nearest to the window. There is a front table with a window view... too bad there are no plugs near this area. Considering it's on Franklin Street and near the UNC campus, one would think setting up multiple plugs would be a good idea. Guess I'm wrong about that :( read more

Great, quick, and friendly service. Right in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill, so it's always filled with college students. Comfy sofas for working and window seats great for people watching (guilty pleasure, shhh). The baristas that I've seen here all seem very enthusiastic and really deliver good quality drinks quickly. Quick tip: the wifi here isn't fantastic, so if you're having trouble, sit close to the wall and connect to the free Spanky's wifi from next door. This Starbucks is great because of it's convenient location, close to a bus station, which is probably why I find myself here so often. There's also a seating area in the back with additional seating, which is nice and not noticeable when you first walk in. My one complaint is the lack of outlets considering the abundance of college students here. It gets pretty packed here during the school year in the daytime, so if you want a quieter place to go and relax, you may want to try the obscure hours of the morning or evening... Or another, less convenient coffee shop. read more

This place doesn't even stay open until 9pm. What a useless establishment. They have prime real estate in downtown chapel Hill, and they completely squander it. If they're not even willing to stay open, they should leave and at least make way for an independent establishment. So we walk in my wife has her mask and outside the door I ask if they have one. The manager said yes and brought me one. The second my wife opened the door I noticed this girl who was looking to see if I was going to walk in which I had no intentions of doing. Now with my mask we go and order. This girl with long straggling hair touches her face and as she brings the drink 12 ft away I pull my mask away from my mouth NOT OFF just and inch away from my lips and say less ice. She goes into full on nut job mode saying your mask with was never not in front of my mouth. People that are this stupid should not be in retail. read more

Pretty standard Starbucks. A little small due to its location on Franklin St but still a good size. Can get a little crowded during certain hours but nothing unbearable. Usually a good mixture of people studying and meeting up with friends for a chat, so the noise is at a good level but by no means silent. I've always gotten good product here honestly. I am only an occasional coffee drinker and thus do not go into any coffee shop that often. I've always had excellent service at this location. The baristas have always been friendly and they always get my order right. I'm one of those people that likes to order off the menu like chai frapps, bloody penguins, or chai mochas and they've always known what to make or were quick to accommodate me at a reasonable price. Also of note is that I've been there twice when they're giving out free food. I don't know if there's any patterns to tip people off but if you go late at night they sometimes give out pastries and muffins for free. Sure they might be too old to put out and sell but they're still good enough to eat! So I'd say be on the lookout for that. Love the service here. I work a few doors down on Franklin street, and so I make it habit to stop in about once per shift. The baristas are super nice, and if you build a rapport with them, they'll definitely hook you up. The other day, I mentioned casually that I was interested in trying out one of their new "refresher" drinks. Without prompting, the woman working made me one free and asked me how I liked it. It's these sort of intangible kindnesses that make a store great and not just good. Some of the other reviewers have complained about the small space. I would agree that this can be annoying, especially at peak times of the day and during exam periods. My answer would be to simply go elsewhere if you're in a hurry or if you need a large space to do work. Really no downsides to speak of. 5 stars. read more

I am not one to bash Starbucks (I appreciate that they helped make coffee better and more accessible in the US years ago) but with very good coffee from independents on nearly every corner, am hard pressed to find a reason to go to Starbucks anymore. (Airports and early mornings an exception.) Have to say though, that this particular location is one of my least favorites. Service is either in your face or indifferent. And coffee is often not hot. Primo location across the street from UNC campus/ Top of the Hill. Has been here forever. Small location, but has the classic Starbucks city cafe look. Picture front glass windows. Just driving by at night and looking in the window, makes you want to go in, get cozy and have some coffee. Not busy at all when I went Friday evening. I have heard that during the day, it's slammed but the line moves quickly. Street parking is sparse to non existant, so this is best as a "walk to" location. read more

The inside is definitely smaller than a typical Starbucks, and, as a result, more crowded. It's possible to find seating, but I wouldn't count on it. People may think this Starbucks is one of the best around but no one actually sees how the employees are treated. It can very very busy and when this happens the workers are treated badly by customers. The manager is rude and honestly bullies his coworkers around all day. Someone very close to me worked for them and found it very strange how when he/she was being interviewed they had about 4 other positions open. When they walked out because enough was enough there again were 4 positions open where people had done the same from similar reasons. It's an unhealthy atmosphere. Ok, so this used to be a great place to study with friendly employees and large tables to work at. This semester, they have replaced the large tables with small round tables which barely fit a laptop. Also, the employees are rude and they now charge for the classic syrup which has no flavor and is basically sugar and water. Stone and leaf cafe does not charge for classic syrup, has friendly employees and large tables to study at. Don't go to this starbucks, go to Stone and Leaf cafe in student stores. I just went into this Starbucks and received the most informative and efficient customer service. When I walked in I had no idea what I wanted, as I do not frequent Starbucks. When I got to the register, Rachel, who was working the register, named and described all of the seasonal beverages they had to offer. I honestly don't remember the name of the drink I decided on, but I am currently drinking it and it is amazing! In the time it took for me to walk five feet from the register to the service well my drink was ready and I was out the door. I was very pleased with my experience. The staff is friendly, but this location is generally too crowded to be enjoyable. The odd part is that there is a large table in the back that could comfortably seat at least 6 more people. However, management is trying very hard to avoid making that available. First, they used it to store inventory. Now, they're trying unsuccessfully to rent it. I don't think they should be closed until it is actually time to close. As an employee it is their job to serve a customer.
