Great coffee spot in Durham with tons of seating and yummy options. I tried one of their fall cold brew drinks and it was so tasty along with a cinammon role and some iced banana bread! Absolutely will be coming back! Seems like a great spot to do homework or chill at when you don't want to be at home.

BCT bagel, iced maple oat milk latte, almond milk cortado

As someone who tries lots of different coffee shops, this spot is great! I ordered the BCT bagel and a cortado and my friend had a maple oat milk latte. The espresso is good quality, no complaints. The bagel is simple yet so good. They are very generous with the cream cheese, but you can always scrape some off if it's too much. It was a little busy, but there was plenty of seating around 10am on a Thursday. Just be prepared to wait in line and wait a little bit for your food/drinks. The staff were super sweet. This is a great spot to meet a friend or get work done :) 10/10 recommend

Still the same friendly folks, great food and drink, great vibes! Even when most of the chairs are indoors.

Love the coffee here, but hate the popularity that makes your coffee take longer than usual. That's my whole review in a nutshell, seriously. We love checking out local coffee houses and this one is great but I had a feeling when we checked the reviews that it was in an accessible spot next to other businesses and I was right. Bean Traders is located in a shopping mall type location so there is plenty of parking but it also means it's busier than most. I know you have to wait for quality coffee but this wait was long for that. And this is not the staffs fault! They were running around getting it done back there slinging pucks, making espressos and carrying giant containers of water back to the station (for some reason?) So if you're in a hurry and want more than black coffee, I'd hit up your number two spot first. But if you're on a casual hangout with your friend then the wait won't even be noticeable really. The staff were awesome and the atmosphere is calm but more busy and louder than other coffee joints. They have a lot of places to sit and a larger ordering area in front of the baristas. The coffee tastes like a darker roast which is different from most coffee places we visited. We like the dark roasts better. We will be back when in town again just with a better game plan, to sit and enjoy Bean Traders while we share ideas for our day!

Salted banana cream pie latte

Visited bean traders coffee for the first time to try their seasonal items and I loved the salted banana cream pie latte. It was flavorful, not overly sweet and I tasted the espresso, such a great balance. The staff were all pleasant and the coffee shop is very spacious, great for working or meeting friends, they also have a large parking lot. There was about a 20 minute wait time for drinks but it was not a big deal.

Nice coffee spot. Found a whim in search for matcha latte. Is was great. Wish the menu was more visible nor obvious. Only reason I knew to order that was because I saw it online.

I've been going to Bean Traders since I first moved to south Durham in 2015. It has such a charming and colorful interior, lots of outdoor seating (does fill up quickly on a beautiful day - this place is hoppin'!) The more I go to BT, the more I love it. I love that I can order ahead on their website and my coffee is ready for me to swing by and pick it up before I commute to work. (This is my insider tip if you don't want to wait in line) I love the seasonal menu items they put out, but you can't go wrong with a vanilla latte (the best in Durham? Very likely.) I've always gotten incredible service, the food is delicious, I've literally never been served something I wouldn't rave about. Everything is Better with Bean

Hands down the best coffee (and baked good) in Durham! The owner, Dave, is on the espresso machine daily and his staff reflects his attention to detail. Always busy, but never slow...the coffee and food is consistently amazing. Cool vibe with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. If you are in south Durham, stop in. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Note: Right side for shakes, food and cold drinks!

Such cool options - some uniques options. 10:30 on Sunday - little bit of a wait for a Phunky Monkey Coffee (espresso, banana, PB, chocolate) - absolutely worth the wait. Note: They did not tell me that it came out the other side of the cashier.

With a boring food court on top of it, Milklab is a sweet haven found at the center of the mall building, by the central escalators. If you're riding down the escalator from the 2nd floor, you can see the big, simple "MILKLAB" sign on its roof. Unlike other Milklab locations, this is just a concession with just a side table on one end, so don't expect seats and tables you'd usually find a typical milk tea cafe. There's usually a kiosk for ordering, but the last time I went, it wasn't working, so I directly told the barista what I wanted: a large Purple Taro Latte + egg pudding topping (light ice, 75% sweetness level). I've ordered the Purple Taro Latte many times in different Milklab locations before, but this is the first time I tried it with egg pudding. I usually order it with taro pudding but after trying the brown sugar milk tea drink with egg pudding in Tiger Sugar in Cary, I decided to test it out with this sweet drink. Surprisingly, I couldn't taste the difference between the blend with the taro pudding and this one with the egg pudding. The flavor of the purple taro in the milk was so strong, it kind of masked the creaminess of the egg pudding, but it's still richer with it. Nonetheless, the barista got the blend right. I called the Purple Taro Latte the "best taro milk tea" in my review for Milklab - Cary (the first and best Milklab location), and my opinion still hasn't changed. This is not your average taro milk tea; Milklab proudly claims that they use the best ingredients such as organic milk and other premium ingredients, not the cheap powdery kind you can get from bigger milk tea franchised shops. And the Purple Taro Latte is one of the drinks that delivers that rich, organic taste. I've tried other drinks and briefly shared what I thought of them in my review for Milklab - Cary so I won't repeat them here, but what I can highlight more is Milklab's premium-looking branding with its minimal black logo on its quality cups. When you hold a Milklab drink, there's a luxurious feel, not just because of its elegant cups, but also because the ingredients inside are the best (except for its mediocre brown sugar milk tea). Overall Score: 3.9/5

If you're looking for your knees to pop a little when you sit down, this is the place for you haha. Go support your local small businesses! I got the ube ice milk at 50% sugar and it was delish! There's only one size and it's pretty big. I definitely recommend mixing it super well with the coated ube on the sides of the cup, otherwise you're just gonna taste the milk. I loved it though cause it felt like I was getting different layers of the drink based on how much ube I had mixed in- very high quality milk and drink. I would totally recommend! My roommate got their strawberry matcha, and we watched them make their matcha and 100% authentic, it's not just some concentrate, we watched them mix the matcha with the designated whisk- super high quality and she loved it too. I had a sip and their boba quality is also 10/10, super super chewy and nice! The guy behind the counter was also really kind- very quick service, patient with you as you look at their wonderful menu. You can also ask to sample some of their toppings to make a well-informed decision for yourself. They also have little gifts you can buy in the form of tea, popping boba, or even cute boba/drink carriers. Also, they have a cute interactive wall where you can write a note or draw some pictures. Would be back again! Personally think it would be fun if there were also board games around too!

Bapu's ambiance inside looks artsy, with cute aesthetics and cool atmosphere. What stood out to me was the assortment of toppings displayed. The good thing: they look pretty colorful and fresh; the not-so-good thing: they're uncovered, so I'm not sure if they're clean. Nonetheless, it's convenient to see the different topping options you can add to your milk tea. I noticed Bapu uses the artificial purple taro powder for its milk tea instead of taro paste, so I eliminated that choice from my milk tea selection process. There was only one young employee who took orders and also made the milk teas when I went, but his customer service was good as he made fine recommendations and served my order fast. Unlike Boba Baba's eye-aching menu screens, Bapu Teahouse's menu overhead looks clear with photos, highlighting its special drinks. There are no kiosks here, so you'd have to order face-to-face. As the server recommended, I ordered the Brown Sugar Ice Milk (75% sweetness, light ice). It doesn't look as Instagram-worthy as Tiger Sugar's brown sugar milk teas, but it looks yummy enough, with brown sugar syrup clearly visible in Bapu's cute & translucent cup with ears. Bapu only serves 1 size for its drinks. When I ordered this, the server asked if I wanted boba. Most decent milk tea cafes I go to automatically already have the basic tapioca pearls or boba by default in their brown sugar milk tea drinks but Bapu charges extra for that. Brown Sugar Ice Milk is listed as $6. With the boba topping, I ended up paying a total of $7.76, which is slightly higher than average price of brown sugar boba milk teas in cafes I've been to. Compare that to Feng Cha in Morrisville, which offers Dirty Boba (brown sugar milk tea for only $6.25 with the boba already included, so Bapu's pricing here sounds like a joke. To be fair, the size of the cup is large enough, with its cute top that reminds me of Doraemon or Hello Kitty. The material of it doesn't look cheap and it feels fun to hold. The sweetness of the brown sugar flavor was just right. It might have been too sweet if it was set to 100% sweetness level, and it's still probably slightly sweet at 50% but my usual preference of 75% for any brown sugar milk tea was perfect here. The milk was deliciously-creamy with the fresh & chewy boba - perfect texture. Server did a good job blending with just the right amount of ice, good amount of brown sugar syrup & boba. It's not on the same level as Boba Baba's Brown Sugar Boba or Tiger Sugar's brown sugar drinks but it's better than many mediocre brown sugar milk teas I've tried in other cafes. Bapu Teahouse's menu is purely drinks, with a nice variety of milk teas, fruit teas, smoothies & iced coffee. Sadly, there are no snack or non-drink dessert options here that you can pair with your milk tea. It's not a big deal if you're only craving for a drink, and it looks like Bapu has a good selection of toppings to customize your order. Just prepare to pay extra for those. | Overall Score: 3.4/5 | Recommended Alternative: Sharetea in Morrisville
