For this week's edition of my coffee shop Saturday, I went to Liturgy instead of the Durham Food Hall. I chose one of their specialty lattes, coconut crush, hot with almond milk. It was very good! They have a small food menu and a yummy selection of pastries from local bakeries. The service is great and there's plenty of seating! Liturgy is located within a food hall so it shares seating with all of the vendors. In general, foot traffic isn't too wild so it works. No aesthetic or vibes to really get work done or take a coffee shop-styled seat with a friend. Staff was kind and professional. Craft drinks were interesting and there were both classic seasonal drinks like a PSL variation and peppermint mocha, but also a burnt honey flat white. I enjoyed the flat white very much although my latte art got a tad messy. The drink was good, but 4 stars because on both this and the peppermint mocha, they weren't quite on a 4 or a 5 star level and with the aesthetic missing, 4 stars it is. read more

Liturgy is a coffee shop located in the Durham Food Hall; we went mid-morning on a Saturday and it was popping, but the service was quick. Ambiance is good, tends to get pretty crowded & loud on weekends so probs not a great place to work/study. I got the Festive Fig Flat White (classic espresso + milk with a house made spiced fig syrup). Honestly, could not distinguish the fig flavor at all, but it was standard. $8 for a flat white seems a bit steep to me, but maybe that's the food hall tax haha. 6/10 would maybe recommend, I do think there are better options for coffee in Durham. read more

We stumbled upon this cute little coffee section of durham food hall. my girlfriend was craving a coffee (on national coffee day) so she ordered the autumn glow which consists of cinnamon and pear undertones. this was the most atrocious coffee i think ive ever tasted in my life. it tasted like drinking a pear juice box as a child with a hint of cinnamon and coffee but not in a good way. $7 to be disappointed. read more

Every time I go to the Food Hall, this beverage company always has a line! Don't let the line scare you. They move through each order very quickly. This time, my partner and I got the gingerbread lattes without milk. This was a seasonal drink and it was truly delicious! If you want to feel like you are snuggled up by an open fire with gingerbread cookies, this is the drink for you. I highly recommend getting a cup of coffee from here. LOVED the coconut crush latte! It's so fun and not too sweet or anything. The coffee really came through and the coconut flavor was subtle. Also a nice touch we're the ice cubes - they're crystal clear! You can tell that they pay a lot of attention to detail here, down to the ice cubes, and I really appreciate that. It's rare to see cafes take it to the next level these days, and I feel like liturgy does that. Staff is so nice here. I've been a couple times and have never had a bad experience. The location itself is not bad either; nice interiors. Downtown Durham is difficult to park in but street parking is available right outside of the Durham Food Hall where this is located. read more

This place is no-nonsense great coffee, kind baristas, and cool ambiance in the Durham Food Hall. Will definitely be returning!

The creativity in the drinks here are incredible! I had my husband try to guess the ingredients and he couldn't do it! So so soooo good!

Liturgy is one of my favorite coffee places in existence. Their iced vanilla lattes are incredibly creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. Their coconut crush latte is the perfect summer coffee drink. I typically ask for a little less sweetness in it, since the coconut cream can be a little overwhelming. The white nojito was also super refreshing! Although Liturgy is a little pricey, most coffee places in Durham typically are around a similar price range. The difference is that Liturgy's coffee is worth every buck! PLUS Durham Food Hall is extremely vibrant and beautiful, filled with a lot of seating as well as delicious food options in case you get hungry after your coffee. read more

This is a cute little coffee shop in the Durham food court. I ordered an iced latte, cappuccino, and coffee. The food court was a bit busy than what I would like, but the people in line maintained some distance between each other. You can pick it up and head outside. The latte met expectations, not bitter. Most definitely. Wow. Yes. Mhm. What else...yassss. The aroma got to me before the flavors. The cup of latte was so rich and smooth. And not to mention, the latte art was on point and so satisfying to watch. It took me two minutes to carry it to my table because I didn't want to mess it up. The first sip was heavenly. I got a quad-shot so it was the perfect balance of bittersweet richness complimented by impeccable creaminess. A cup that I will definitely be holding other coffees to a standard from now on! 15/10 recommend! The ambience is also perfect for a small, quick chat or a couple hours of chill, focused work. Smoothest latte I've had in Durham. And the latte art was nice too. The wait wasn't too long and the vibe in Durham Food Hall is great. It's a great place to sit and work since there's great food and great coffee and lots of seating. Parking is a headache sometimes though and the wifi can be unreliable if it's busy. I've become a deeply committed regular at this establishment for a variety of reasons. The baristas are pleasant and engaged with a wide variety of folks who walk in, and the service feels like their primary goal is to make sure that people enjoy themselves rather than to cut corners for profit. The coffee quite literally changed my thoughts on light and medium roast coffee (even just their house roast on drip). They also have single origin roasts which have all been interesting and compelling. The environment is a bright, cheerful and slightly eclectic industrial style, with plenty of variety in seating options (couches, bar, tables). Very good cappuccino. I always have the same order when visiting coffee shops (well, I just always have the same order) but this way I'm comparing apples to apples. The espresso was smooth and rich and the milk wasn't over steamed. We also go the cinnamon pull part muffin and a bag of beans to take home. Very good experience, clean facility and lovely decor. Such a cool spot! We stopped by on a Saturday morning to grab coffee and breakfast, and Liturgy was busy. I always love to try seasonal options, so I tried the Harvest Spice Latte, and my husband had the Peppermint Mocha. Mine was like a more balanced pumpkin spice latte, and it had those great comforting spices on a cold morning. The mocha was a little too chocolaty for my taste, but my husband loved it. Durham has a lot of wonderful independent coffee places but I think the coffee at Liturgy is my favorite. My Saturday ritual is to pair it with a bagel from everything bagels. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind. It is always a special treat to have a cup of Liturgy coffee. Also as an ex Catholic I kind of love the name. read more

This was my favorite, favorite coffee place in Durham for a long time, Tim is great and a lot of his team is as well. The prices have gone up since they opened, but I think that has become standard these days. I continued to go there because I wanted to support this small business, and the coffee is great. Unfortunately, the service hasn't kept up with the price increases as it has grown, and there are some team members (Sarah in particular--multiple bad experiences) who really don't prioritize good service. Have had my ticket lost and waited over 30 minutes for a drink with no apology. I asked for my money back as it wasn't the first time this happened, but it was surprising to me that this wasn't just offered given the wait time. Asking for my money back seemed to be the only way to convey that this wasn't great service since the only initial response to asking about the 30 min wait/people behind me getting their drinks was an annoyed offer from Sarah to make my drink next rather than an apology. Given how busy they are, I understand they don't seem to care if they lose a customer here and there and that's the way you'll be treated if they make a mistake. read more
