This was a cute little find in Mebane! Inside was quaint, cute and well organized. There was unique seating and artwork hanging up, and a section to find unique gifts and items for purchase. This is such a cute coffee shop located in downtown Mebane. There is a lot of natural lighting and lighting in general. It has a very welcoming feel with a tiny shop as soon as you walk in and a coffee shop to follow. There is a good amount of seating, coming in around 11 AM, was maybe not the move as all the seating was taken. I ordered a sweet scone, and it was decent. Typically, when I visit a new coffee shop, I always try a flat white, and I can tell you that this flat white was just OK. I am leaving this review with care for this business and care for the filament team. Recently there has been a major decline in the quality of coffee/drinks, and customer service at filament. Unfortunately the taste of the espresso is not as good as before and their seasonal drinks have been pretty repetitive for like the last year. What was once a lovely environment has now become place full of short answered, annoyed looking employees.. almost as if It is a problem or an annoyance that customers are just going and grabbing a drink or shopping in retail. Your past crew about a year ago was magnificent.. but recently your team has been struggling. Is the current manager accurately training your employees? I have seen employees watching videos behind bar seeming like they are trying to figure out how to work particular machines. The current manager also seems to be just as annoyed about customers coming into the shop. She puts off the most unwelcoming attitude. All the times I have been in your store and have seen the manager she is either on her phone on the TikTok .. or on her computer.. searching the web for non job related stuff. I understand having some personal time or being on break. But with the recent decline in quality I'd think she'd be more on top of the team and watching over to make sure the espresso process is done correctly. I want to love this cute little local spot. Filament is the best coffee shop I have ever been to! Not only is their coffee top notch, they are always extremely friendly, helpful, and there is a cute, reasonably priced gift section. I will say the interior can get a bit cramped, but it is beautifully decorated and there is a variety of seating arrangements available. If you go, make sure to try something with the filament spice! My favorite is the pumpkin filament in the fall (and I'm usually not a big pumpkin spice fan)... takes just like a more spice-based pumpkin pie. None of the drinks taste fake or too sugary (probably because they make their own syrup). I cannot recommend highly enough! read more

What an amazing place in downtown Mebane. After a quick visit to the outlet mall, my husband found this place when we were on the lookout for a quick cuppa. There was good amount of street parking close by this coffee place. Coming to the ambiance - it is very open, well-lit, and welcoming. There's plenty of space and they even have a private co-working space/meeting room at the back. The barista was very friendly and answered some of our questions. My husband ordered a butter beer latte from their seasonal menu and I got a matcha latte. We shared a whoopie pie. The portion size for the lattes were huge. We ordered the small size but it felt like a large. Everything tasted great. This place also supports other local businesses and artists by selling their work. They also have a good collection of paintings displayed on their walls for sale. This is a very thoughtfully decorated space and will be a great place for working. They also have free WiFi which is an added advantage. I would definitely love to visit this place again the next time I'm in Mebane. read more

Competition is a good thing when it's honorable and without malice... I'll admit to being a little shocked to see another coffee shop open along the same street and just a few doors down so I entered with a little trepidation. Immediately upon walking in, you are greeted with an open, warm and large space. A leather couch along the left with a glass table in front is a welcoming respite to chill with a book or converse in comfort with friends. Small tables line the left wall with ample space to walk between and plenty of natural light from the spacious front window facing Clay street. Local art and antiques are scattered throughout the space to keep it inviting and low key. The coffee bar sits on the left and centered in the main space with a raw wood surface and the drink menu in chalk on the wall behind... It would be nice to have a clear sign on the currently brewed offering available for view. Small baked goods from a couple of local sources are viewed and selected behind clear glass directly below the main counter. If you weren't looking for them... you might miss them, so look down. The baked goods are diminutive... which I'm not really a fan of, but without having control of that in-house, I can't really give a strike to Filament for it. They brew and serve Joe Van Gogh beans locally roasted in Durham so that was a plus for me as I'm a fan of JvG. Moving back behind the coffee counter is the convenience bar with napkins, cream, sugar and other accessories should you feel the need to adjust the flavor to your liking. The bathrooms and a few privacy rooms are located in the rear of the shop. It's a nice touch to see the meeting room and individual privacy rooms offered should a patron feel the need to conduct an impromptu meeting or work in privacy. So far so good and I'm enjoying a little bit of choice in Mebane for now. read more
