The first time we went astonished us the moment we entered. The logo and the "Chapel Hill Mogo Tee" signage on the wall, the impressive menu of various teas, the 2 kiosks for ordering, the neat seats, fresh fruits inside the glass case, bright and clean spaces that make Moge Tee an inviting cafe to sip cha and/or enjoy delicious desserts. It was the complete opposite of Tiger Sugar's ambiance in Cary, NC (previously reviewed). Moge Tee's vast selection of milk teas & fruit teas with cheese foam, fruit Yakult, milk swirls, matcha, and Thai varieties can satisfy almost any tea lover's craving. Two uncommon ingredients stood out the first time we viewed Moge's menu: red bean & creme brulee. Average milk tea cafes likely don't have either of these ingredients, so when we saw that Moge offers both as part of some of its teas, we knew that this milk tea cafe is clearly beyond average. Established in mainland China, the Moge Tee franchise has stores operating globally, with locations in China, Southeast Asia, Australia & North America. According to its website, Moge Tee has grown its presence in the U.S. since 2018. Out of the global milk tea franchises we've tried, Moge Tee is our new favorite, and ranks above SharedTea, Kung Fu Tea, Meet Fresh & Quickly. It might be on the same level as Tiger Sugar in terms of overall drink quality & selection but Tiger Sugar probably does brown sugar milk drinks better; whereas Moge Tee tries to cater more to different tea preferences, and from the 4 drinks we've tasted so far, we think Moge does a pretty good job at that. Here are my thoughts on the 4 large drinks we've tried in our first 2 visits (Note: we took sips of each other's drinks so could review what my girl ordered): 1. Red Bean Milk Tea + Creme Brulee (75% sweetness, light ice) - It was creamy but not as creme brulee in this drink didn't stand out as much as the Brown Sugar Boba in Boba Baba in Cary (previously reviewed). The best part if this drink was the red beans that went well with the milk tea. 2. Matcha Milk Tea with Creme Brulee (50% sweetness level) - unique mix of matcha & creme brulee. Mildly sweet and would please matcha lovers. 3. Fresh Taro Boba Milk Tea - Uses fresh organic taro instead of the cheap purple taro powder that many milk tea shops use. Cashier said that sweetness level can't be adjusted here, and I assumed that it was because the fresh taro already adds its natural sweetness. But when I first sipped it, it was not sweet at all, but it tasted refreshing, and I prefer this over classic taro milk tea made of powder. It reminded me of the taro milk tea I tried in Grand Asia but this is less sweet, so if you're craving for sweet milk tea, I wouldn't recommend this. There seems to be a minimal amount of a boba, which seems fine for this kind of drink. 4. Coco Red Bean (50% sweetness level) - My girl ordered this drink and we both think that this is the best and most unique drink we've tried in Moge Tee. The combination of coconut milk, red bean & ice tasted super delicious. Every sip tasted rich & sweet, and the red beans added that special flavor you won't find in many milk tea cafes. Other than the milk teas, we enjoyed the creme brulee dessert ($3+). We already ordered a total of 7 creme brulees. This is more affordable than the $6 caramel custard in that Brecotea, so the value here in Moge is so much better. The layer of cameralized sugar on top and its custard base taste fantastic. It's a great dessert to pair with milk tea, especially if the milk tea is just mildly sweet. There were some minor flaws in our tea-venturing experience of our 2nd visit in Moge Tee. This time, both kiosks were not working, so we had to order in front, and when we tried to, the guy cashier said system wasn't ready, so we had to wait a few minutes before we could order. The guy cashier wasn't as friendly as Nico from Boba Baba but he did answer my question about the fresh taro boba clearly. Brown Sugar boba was also not available in our 2nd visit. While Moge Tee in downtown Chapel Hill may not have the best customer service, it still exceeded our expectations when it comes to its overall milk tea quality, fresh ingredients, and inviting ambiance. It's the 7th cafe that made it to my "Best Milk Tea Cafes in the Triangle NC" Yelp Collection. Overall Score: 4.7/5 read more

We visited Moge Tee on Easter Sunday as they were one of the only open places on Franklin street to get boba. The staff were nice, took the orders quickly and the ingredients were fresh. I got a Fresh Lemon Oolong tea and it was spot on (less ice and 50% sweetness). They have a punch card for a free drink after you get 7 which is a nice perk too. The orders were promptly made and delivered up front and everyone in my group was happy (we ordered 5 drinks). The main downside and reason I didn't give them 5 stars was they were out of Boba already and it was mid-late afternoon. So we didn't get to try any boba (the lychee jelly was good though!). I also like the lids of their cups. If you drink from the lid itself, there's a cap and a place to keep the cap on the lid while drinking (cap storage). If you use the straw port then you won't need it. But it's not a cheap cup/lid. ------TL;DR------ Pros: fast ordering and prompt delivery, friendly staff, reasonable prices, really fresh ingredients. Has a non-dairy menu Cons: ran out of boba (by mid to late afternoon) Bottom Line: freshly made drinks! I would definitely go back for more in the future next time I visit. read more

This was an interesting experience for sure! We went there just before closing so everything was a lot of comossion. The trash was being cleared, kitchen being cleaned and servers moving about so we did not have the best first look of it. Nonetheless we ordered the mango tea which had a different flavour to it that what we expected. It was not overly sweet but it wasn't the flavor we were lookong for sadly. I took of 1 star jist because the server was not able/willing to help us decide with suggestions and was kist giving us very plane suggestions which were eead off the menu board. The ambience was lretty cool thougj! They had mood sort of lighting and mice music playing. I could definitely see myself hanging out there with friends if Inhad time to kill. The tea house or cafe has a modern and bright setting. It was a cute imstagramable cafe. The staff was helpful, explaining all the different drinks and their flavours to us. We got a mango bubble tea, though I didn't particularly like the first few sips of the drink, I soon grew to like it. It was a strong, slightly artificial mango taste, but not too bad either. They have a wide menu and multiple stores around NC. I am keen to try some other flavours too. read more

I have an intense love for the coco mango here. I came in a group of four and convinced everyone else to get the exact same thing as me because it's that good. It comes with crystal boba, which is apparently controversial. Make no mistake! No controversy here- it is simply delicious. It has a similar effect to other clear, jelly-like boba toppings- aloe and lychee jelly. I much prefer it to tapioca boba. The service tends to be pretty quick and the space is nice to study in! I would take it as a breakfast drink next time. I'm sad I didn't try the yogurt tea, but maybe there will be a next time. I found out they are also located in NY. I fly a lot and this is a pretty decent distance from where I stay in. I usually crave bubble tea so I decided to check this place out. Aesthetic- I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The place is super cute, drinks are cute, and it's just a relaxing place to be and I can spend my time here just drinking bubble tea Drink- I always order the mango bubble tea. As a person who loves mangoes they do mango drinks really well and would highly suggest this place for a mango lover. Their drinks are always fresh and very satisfying Snacks- I tired their Asian small snack dim sum and they were not bad. Got the purple yam bubble milk tea, and it was decent! I liked it because it has bits of purple yam/potato blended inside. However, the texture isn't for everyone. It wasn't smooth/creamy and truly tasted like sweet potato in a drink. One of my friends mentioned that there was a new bubble tea spot that opened up on Franklin street, so I knew I had to go try it out. Being the third bubble tea spot on Franklin street made me a bit confused about the goal of this place. Having to compete with two, already established, bubble tea places within a 5-minute walking distance of each other seemed ambitious. Especially considering both stores (Cha House and Yaya Tea) had very loyal fan bases. But nevertheless, if they were confident enough to have a new store open, with the competition, I had to see for myself if it could live up to expectations. I decided to order online and go physically to the store to pick it up due to Covid. I ordered the "Super Fruit Tea" as I am more of a fruit tea bubble tea drinker. So I can't really comment on the milk teas' here. One thing that was confusing was that the prices on GRUBHUB didn't match the prices in the store and I ended up paying a dollar or two more than I should've. The prices for the toppings were also skewed a bit as on GRUBHUB they were 50c a topping but on the menu in the store, they were 65c. As for the drink itself...nothing too eye-opening. It was an average drink at best. It came in a tall slender cup with pieces of fruit that were sliced up. Given how expensive and average the drink was, I don't know if I'd order it again. Please be advised that that is the only drink I've ordered so far from Moge Tee, so I'll definitely change up the review in the future if another drink does peak my taste buds. Overall, given how expensive and close to the other bubble tea stores (2 doors down from Yaya Tea) it is, I don't know how sustainable this store will be. I ordered a rose milk tea because it's one of my favorite flavors, and out of the 8 other reputable bubble tea shops in the Triangle area, only Quickly has it. Unfortunately, there wasn't much of a strong rose flavor at all. It just tasted like black milk tea (earl grey or something from the flavor that I caught), and the tea flavor wasn't strong either; it tasted like 3 parts milk and 1 part tea. With sugar. Basically cereal milk. The service was fine, and the interior is pretty nice. The baristas were playing heavy rap music that was clearly from one of their own playlists since it didn't really match the sparkly concept of the store. But I was most disappointed with the tea. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but I'm a bit hesitant to give Moge Tee another shot, especially when there are boba competitors as close as two doors down the street. I have recently become obsessed with boba tea, so when I heard this place opened on Franklin St., I had to stop in! First things first, the shop is super cute and very "Instagrammable". They were pretty crowded when I stopped in, so I'm glad to see that they're doing well despite the pandemic. I ended up getting a brown sugar milk tea with boba, and it was great! A little weak on the tea flavor, but the sweetness level was perfect (not too sugary) and the boba had a great texture. My only gripes: the boba/brown sugar mixture was hot when it was added to the drink - and while I appreciated that it was fresh, it immediately melted the ice and watered down the drink. Also, the cup with the cat lid, while ADORABLE, isn't super functional as it doesn't have a tight fit. My tea leaked quite a bit as I walked to the car. Came here on a weekday afternoon, got their purple yam bubble milk tea. I brought my own cup and straw to reduce plastic usage but was told they can't use my cup because they spread the purple yam on the side of the cup using a communal spoon. Sigh. Moge Tee is a great addition to Franklin Street! I have come to prefer Moge Tee over Cha House and Yaya Tea because of the large variety in drinks, from typical milk tea beverages to a big range of fruity drinks that are all top notch in quality. I love adding the cheese foam to various milk teas and matcha drinks as well, it has a unique taste but adds a great touch to any beverage! I definitely recommend any of the yakult drinks, matcha drinks, or milk swirls (taro, purple potato, brown sugar). I personally didn't enjoy the green milk matcha with white bubbles or the mango fresh fruit cheese foam beverages but I think that's because some green teas taste strange to me. They are quick in getting drinks to customers, even when they seem busy. Definitely give Moge Tee a try for your boba fix! read more
