You have to make appointments and sign up for a time slot to paint. I guess it's typically not walk in, which is disappointing. There is an okay selection of pottery items to choose from. But the prices here are so much more pricier than other locations I've been at. Usually they provide a little "beginners guide" on how to begin, but there was none here. Won't come back but still got a cute plate out of it.

I made two new albums and needed to make quality copies of many antique pictures. They were on it every time I came in with a new set of pictures. The staff said they rotate the art frequently, though most of the offerings appear to be more modern. As on campus art museums go, this was a nice one, both in the classic construction and in the…read morevariety of the collection. Only one floor was open covering half a dozen rooms or so. I did get the sense occasionally of "hey, didn't I see that at the North Carolina museum in Raleigh?" having stopped there just before coming here (it was a rainy day), but that's not a terrible thing as both are solid museums in their own right and there were plenty of historically intriguing and unique pieces here. The building complexes with an art library that was closed for the holidays when I was here. There is no charge to get in, and a small amount of museum parking was hidden behind the building.

I commissioned Cher to make three identical stained glass panels for my family that would be a…read morereplica of a cherished childhood Christmas poster we love and I cannot recommend her enough. Words cannot express how BEAUTIFULLY the panels came out!!! I was in tears. It looks JUST like the poster, only improved through Cher's artistry and attention to detail. They are magnificent! The colored glass that was chosen is absolutely perfect and so beautiful, and her foiling and soldering abilities are top notch. She made us a custom frame around the panels so we can hang them and I cannot wait to give them to my family! Cher walked me through the whole process via e-mail and pickup was super easy. We are in love with our custom wedding bands! This was the first shop we visited, and we knew as…read moresoon as we started talking to Kim that we had found the right place. Not only is Kim truly enthusiastic about the pieces in her shop, she listened to what we were looking for and showed us options we never would have considered - all without pressuring us into making a quick decision, or a decision we weren't comfortable with. We were very fortunate to find a shop with one of the few metalsmiths in the country who knows how to makes pieces in the mokume gane style, and we are in love with the ring John made. Kim's work on the other band is simple and elegant - exactly what we wanted. This shop is absolutely worth a visit, especially if you're looking for custom pieces.
