The Arts Center has plays and music and arts of all kinds. One might even say it is a center for such things, as though arts gravitate towards it. You never quite know what's going to happen here, but I guarantee you that there is something going on here. It probably has more to do with painting or musical theater than it does with baby murder, but that's less of a guarantee. Not to say that they don't support baby murder. They just REALLY support painting. I've been here several times during the school year for theatrical productions from various people, and they always do a great job. Tickets are affordable and the space is fun and indy. There's also an art gallery attached to the center, the East End Gallery. It's a tiny space, but it's industrial homey, much like the rest of the center, and shows change regularly to keep you guessing. Right now there's a show there from Eduardo A-Spanish-Last-Name, this abstract Argentine artist with multiple sclerosis who paints things that are bright and trippy. Enjoy.

I really love this venue for shows. Not a bad seat in the house. I have no idea about the classes though, so I won't comment on them. Just... when I see that a musical act I like is playing here, I am always very pleased, because I know the sound will be top notch, and I will be able to see well. Nice comfy seats. Aaaaand, I'll get Milltown mussels before I head in for the show. :D

I asked Tracy how many students were attending day, and her response was "Oh, 14-16 students!" This surprised me as the workshop was sold as a maximum of 8 students. Once everyone arrived, sure enough there was barely enough room to work, with everyone squeezed in a tight space. Her studio is located within a shared shop space, so there was lots of noise going on with a TV and chatter from the other tenants' businesses, which made it hard to hear instructions. She also didn't have enough tools and materials to accommodate 16 students, and only 1 assistant to help with the whole class. They ran out of balloons to help support the pumpkin structure, and we had to make do by scrunching up random plastic pieces and stuffing it in our pumpkins instead. I also had other students keep taking tools I needed to work on my pumpkin. We did our best to share, but it was not ideal at all. The crunch time came when we wanted to paint our pumpkins. Hubby went to the paint table, but it was full and Tracy told him there wasn't enough paint or containers. She gave him a dirty container and told him to go wash it off, but we didn't know where water was available either. Hubby raised his voice at this point on how this should have been prepared for us, the students who paid for the class. I looked up from my pumpkin at this point and asked Tracy, "Do we not have enough paint?" I repeated the question again, both times she did not answer. Hubby then brought up that the class was promoted as max 8 students but clearly she squeezed more in for a money grab. Tracy at this point snatched up his pumpkin, held it in her hands and said, "Fine, I can just give you a refund!" At this point, we had already driven an hour to the class and another hour or so making our pumpkins, so we were invested. Hubby backed off and apologized for his outburst. She returned his pumpkin, but would not stop jabbing him and commenting because he refused to have any further interaction with her after this. I had also apologized to her for the outburst just to keep the peace. I had to go around the paint table and ask other students to share the paint. We finally got our pumpkins painted and were told to come back in 4 weeks to collect them after they were fired. Well, we picked up our pumpkins this week and my pumpkin was super messed up. I had taken photos before we left, so you can see the before and after photos. From what I can tell, someone tried to core my pumpkin stem and did not bother putting the stem back properly and fired it as is, causing my pumpkin to collapse. I took photos and emailed Tracy. She cited "Terms and Conditions", and did not respond after I asked for a proper explanation for what actually happened to my pumpkin. We have taken lots of art classes, and this by far is the worst experience we have had with a teacher and studio. I would highly recommend to stay far, far away from this studio!

They were very friendly and genuinely engaged with the children during this event. Camila and the gentlemen on staff running the event did a phenomenal job keeping the children busy and engaged. We stopped in for the special FX & prosthetic makeup workshop. Camila really worked hard to keep everyone focused on the tasks at hand and did an excellent job teaching such a large group. The costume contest was a good time as well. There were so many children in creative costumes that took home little trophies and prizes. My daughter thanked me for taking her and is excited to see what else the center has to offer as a young artist. This is a excellent place to invest in your child's talents and gifts. It's also the perfect space to allow them to spend less time off their digital devices & social media. They offer anime graphic arts, music, studio production, acting and more. We look forward to enrolling in the art & music classes here. This is a unique resource and space for young rising creatives. So glad to have stumbled across this center.

Our instructor would leave our classroom after just a couple of minutes with no real direction or instruction. He was busy hanging out with a fellow instructor in one of the other domes. Meanwhile we were doing a drawing class in a poorly lit room where the only light was up by where the instructor would typically teach. He did this for weeks. When our ENTIRE class went to talk to Deborah, and let her know of these problems and a lack of instructor, she told us ALL that we were lying and that the instructor wouldn't do that because he was one of their most esteemed instructors. She wouldn't even walk to the classroom to see if we were telling the truth. How would an entire class be able to leave their class without the instructor wondering what was up and going to look for them. Deborah denied any refunds or rescheduling of classes. I still wish I could get some sort of refund for this place. During admissions, I was told I would be placed in advanced classes because my work already proved I would be wasting my time in beginner classes. Of course when it came time to start, I was placed in beginner classes and they said they wouldn't change them. So I spent money without any ability to get a refund on classes for things I already knew. Half the time I spent teaching my fellow classmates better techniques than the instructors did. I've heard this place is getting shut down. Not the first rodeo the owner has been through like this though. Roger K is an educational crook and so is Deborah.
