This school is an absolute waste of time and money. I attended while it was "The School of…read moreCommunication Arts" and it was absurd how poorly managed this place was. Our instructor would leave our classroom after just a couple of minutes with no real direction or instruction. He was busy hanging out with a fellow instructor in one of the other domes. Meanwhile we were doing a drawing class in a poorly lit room where the only light was up by where the instructor would typically teach. He did this for weeks. When our ENTIRE class went to talk to Deborah, and let her know of these problems and a lack of instructor, she told us ALL that we were lying and that the instructor wouldn't do that because he was one of their most esteemed instructors. She wouldn't even walk to the classroom to see if we were telling the truth. How would an entire class be able to leave their class without the instructor wondering what was up and going to look for them. Deborah denied any refunds or rescheduling of classes. I still wish I could get some sort of refund for this place. During admissions, I was told I would be placed in advanced classes because my work already proved I would be wasting my time in beginner classes. Of course when it came time to start, I was placed in beginner classes and they said they wouldn't change them. So I spent money without any ability to get a refund on classes for things I already knew. Half the time I spent teaching my fellow classmates better techniques than the instructors did. I've heard this place is getting shut down. Not the first rodeo the owner has been through like this though. Roger K is an educational crook and so is Deborah.

I drove in from Charlotte area to attend a 'First Friday' event hosted by my daughter-in-law. Her…read moreand my Son live in New Hampshire so she came into town to for the entire month of July to paint and get prepared for the 8/1/25 event. Molly is a talented and experienced artist, primarily in oil and acrylic. They had invited about a dozen or so people from around CLT Region who came into town to see her and James since they live in NH. It was an interesting evening because it started raining hard just about 7p as the event was getting in gear. I'm sure it deterred quite a few from attending. There are two floors with other 'artist in residence' so it was a lively and diverse Friday crowd. I did make it 'upstairs' to meet Caitlin Cary, a local artist who has a studio there. Some may know here as vocalist/violin player with Ryan Adams formerly of the band Whiskeytown.

They also have a ton of dining options for students and their own cows from which they make their own ice cream! Lots of cool Raleigh spots to check out too - like Mitch's Tavern from Bull Durham.

I have an ex-girlfriend who works here and a sort of current girlfriend who goes here, so I'm intrinsically connected to this University. I last hung out on campus just a few weeks ago and it is as friendly and warm as always. Carolina girls always are, and the boys are pretty cool too. One of the coolest things about it is that it's close - walkably so - to Raleigh, but also close to Cary and Morrisville and Chapel Hill and Durham, all of which have some real food gems in them. So as long as you have a car you can eat really well at this college. And not too expensively either. Did I mention how much I like the girls here.

So cool! You no longer have to go to Raleigh for such intense and fun art classes! Great instructor. Highly recommend!
