    Strawberry Matcha
    Hayley P.

Found this spot on Yelp because I was in the area and craving boba. What a great find! Frequented primarily by UNC students based on its proximity to the school, this place has a fun vibe and also tons of spots to sit and work. They offer matcha (with boba and jellies to add) and shaved ice. I didn't know about the shaved ice but someone ordered while I was there and I am intrigued. It looked delicious so I may have to come back to try. I got a large strawberry matcha with boba. It was $8.33 after tax, which I feel like is reasonable for the size and quality of the drink. This is definitely one of the better matcha spots I have enjoyed. I sat outside since the weather was nice and sipped on my drink. Not a spot I'll likely visit often based on proximity but definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Cute little spot for tea and snacky foods. Good area in the back to work / study / have study groups. Boba was very delicious and I did enjoy the crispiness of the tofu! I thought the tofu was much better than the chicken - but flavors were on point. Plenty of parking too - there's a paid parking lot / garage down the street if you're nervous about street parking.

This is along a main street so you may have to use paid parking/ garage. Free parking on Sundays. Looks like this is famous in the neighborhood, the customers keep on coming and going. But my review only applies to drinks and not the food menu. The Owl Tea was ok'd by my kid because of the cream cheese cap. My Dirty Tiger (brown sugar milk tea) drink though is my least fave of all the boba places I've been. It's like a regular while milk with boba, can't taste a hint of "tea". That plain. Maybe it's not even a tea because the drink itself is more white than brown? The taro slush also seems to taste like the powdered taro flavoring I used to buy and make at home, can't confirm what they use though. The pearl/boba itself was good though.

I love their drinks!! Service is relatively fast and friendly, but they get really busy since they are one of the best Boba spots in the area. They have plenty of seating available, but I don't find it very comfortable unless you get to sit on the bench along the back wall. The decor is cute and trendy.

Went to Tea Hill 3x already. The first 2 visits about 2 years ago & the latest, just last week. The cafe was close to closing the last time we went but they took our orders well: 2x large Brown Sugar milk tea (both 50% less sugar). This was our first time ordering this particular drink, and we were disappointed. There are 2 major issues in their Brown Sugar milk tea: The first was the milk tea itself; while we could initially taste the sweet brown sugar flavor, it lacked the creaminess we craved from a quality Brown Sugar milk tea. It tasted like we were just drinking milk with brown sugar and boba. Too bland for our taste. The second issue was the boba. The tapioca pearls were too small we could barely get that fresh, chewy texture we get from most other milk tea cafes. In the previous visits, we tried the taro milk tea, which is made of taro powder instead of taro paste. What I remember enjoying more in Tea Hill are the Taiwanese/Korean snacks they offer. We actually discovered Korean kimchi pancake here, and we enjoyed its crispy texture, soy paste flavor, and delicious taste that can perfectly be paired with a tea of your choice. The kimchi inside made this a healthy bite. We also tried Tea Hill's Taiwanese popcorn chicken and braised pork chop rice plate before. Not satisfied with the amount and size of popcorn chicken but my girl enjoyed the braised pork rice plate, which tasted Taiwanese-authentic. Ambiance was welcoming with sufficient amount of tables often occupied by UNC students sipping tea & enjoying snacks. The interior's minimalistic aesthetic was a gem to see in a dowtown filled with cramped, visually-uninspiring spaces It's surely a pleasant spot to have a snack and sip cha. Tea Hill is a "classier Quickly" that offers a variety of teas & snacks, but I'd say that the latter category of its menu is a stronger reason for us to return. Perhaps "Snack Hill" would make a more fitting name. Jokes aside, I think Tea Hill has great potential to be the #1 milk tea cafe in Chapel Hill, a city lacking of quality tea cafes. Perhaps they haven't reached the top of the hill yet when it comes to milk tea quality.

This place was fairly good. I absolutely loved the popcorn chicken. It was more of a karage chicken dish than a popcorn chicken snack. The reason for the 3 stars in because it took over 30 minutes for our food and drinks to be ready. Two people who come in after us and ordered drinks and food got their orders before us. I appreciated the drink selection and for the 100% sweet to be just right. The boba had the right amount of pop and jelly texture. The vibe was definitely that of a college town, but I did not feel unwelcome as a visitor. I would come back again

Mango matcha before stirring in the mango
    Camille H.

I got a mango matcha latte with almond milk. It was kind of strange because the mango part was just sitting at the bottom and the matcha was on top. Each were good individually but when I mixed them together, I couldn't taste the mango anymore. My mom got a peach oolong iced tea which was good. The lady taking our orders asked my mom the amount of sugar and ice she wanted but didn't ask me and just automatically put full sugar and regular ice. I thought that was weird. It's very cute inside but I don't like that they have seats in front of their only menu. Someone was sitting there when we walked in and we couldn't read it.

    Wintermelon milk tea

This business used to be Cha House but now it's Tea Hill (I assume they rebranded or it's another boba business). This spot is the perfect location for college students since it's located on Franklin St., and it was fairly busy when I arrived. I ordered taro and wintermelon milk tea. Both drinks were on point but I really love the wintermelon the most! Even though I didn't change the sweetener level it was just the right sweetness, and the ratio of milk and tea was just right! As for the ambiance it's nice and bright, perfect for doing work, hanging out, etc.

Strawberry Matcha & Jasmine Green Milk Tea
    Annie L.

Amazing! Got the jasmine green milk tea with regular sugar (100%) and it was sweet but not over bearingly sweet. The tea flavor was delishhh as well. The Strawberry and Matcha drink is also another great drink to try. Would recommend both! Not that it matters but they put good ice cubes in their drinks too

Lychee green milk tea with pudding

As a Taiwanese American raised in Southern California, this Tea Hill was an oasis in a desert for someone who is used to a plethora of options for bubble tea. They do it right here, giving you the option to dictate how much ice and sugar goes into your drink, and the next level add is not just fresh boba but pudding, my personal favorite. Bonuspunten for having Taiwanese shaved ice, popcorn chicken and zha pai gu (Taiwanese fried pork chop). If I weren't so full from aggressively over-ordering at Namu for dinner, I definitely would have tried some. But none of that is the type of dish to travel super well or take to eat the day after. Guess I'll just have to come back!! (Might have ordered bloody tiger and caramel Milky Way to go)

The first time we went astonished us the moment we entered. The logo and the "Chapel Hill Mogo Tee" signage on the wall, the impressive menu of various teas, the 2 kiosks for ordering, the neat seats, fresh fruits inside the glass case, bright and clean spaces that make Moge Tee an inviting cafe to sip cha and/or enjoy delicious desserts. It was the complete opposite of Tiger Sugar's ambiance in Cary, NC (previously reviewed). Moge Tee's vast selection of milk teas & fruit teas with cheese foam, fruit Yakult, milk swirls, matcha, and Thai varieties can satisfy almost any tea lover's craving. Two uncommon ingredients stood out the first time we viewed Moge's menu: red bean & creme brulee. Average milk tea cafes likely don't have either of these ingredients, so when we saw that Moge offers both as part of some of its teas, we knew that this milk tea cafe is clearly beyond average. Established in mainland China, the Moge Tee franchise has stores operating globally, with locations in China, Southeast Asia, Australia & North America. According to its website, Moge Tee has grown its presence in the U.S. since 2018. Out of the global milk tea franchises we've tried, Moge Tee is our new favorite, and ranks above SharedTea, Kung Fu Tea, Meet Fresh & Quickly. It might be on the same level as Tiger Sugar in terms of overall drink quality & selection but Tiger Sugar probably does brown sugar milk drinks better; whereas Moge Tee tries to cater more to different tea preferences, and from the 4 drinks we've tasted so far, we think Moge does a pretty good job at that. Here are my thoughts on the 4 large drinks we've tried in our first 2 visits (Note: we took sips of each other's drinks so could review what my girl ordered): 1. Red Bean Milk Tea + Creme Brulee (75% sweetness, light ice) - It was creamy but not as creme brulee in this drink didn't stand out as much as the Brown Sugar Boba in Boba Baba in Cary (previously reviewed). The best part if this drink was the red beans that went well with the milk tea. 2. Matcha Milk Tea with Creme Brulee (50% sweetness level) - unique mix of matcha & creme brulee. Mildly sweet and would please matcha lovers. 3. Fresh Taro Boba Milk Tea - Uses fresh organic taro instead of the cheap purple taro powder that many milk tea shops use. Cashier said that sweetness level can't be adjusted here, and I assumed that it was because the fresh taro already adds its natural sweetness. But when I first sipped it, it was not sweet at all, but it tasted refreshing, and I prefer this over classic taro milk tea made of powder. It reminded me of the taro milk tea I tried in Grand Asia but this is less sweet, so if you're craving for sweet milk tea, I wouldn't recommend this. There seems to be a minimal amount of a boba, which seems fine for this kind of drink. 4. Coco Red Bean (50% sweetness level) - My girl ordered this drink and we both think that this is the best and most unique drink we've tried in Moge Tee. The combination of coconut milk, red bean & ice tasted super delicious. Every sip tasted rich & sweet, and the red beans added that special flavor you won't find in many milk tea cafes. Other than the milk teas, we enjoyed the creme brulee dessert ($3+). We already ordered a total of 7 creme brulees. This is more affordable than the $6 caramel custard in that Brecotea, so the value here in Moge is so much better. The layer of cameralized sugar on top and its custard base taste fantastic. It's a great dessert to pair with milk tea, especially if the milk tea is just mildly sweet. There were some minor flaws in our tea-venturing experience of our 2nd visit in Moge Tee. This time, both kiosks were not working, so we had to order in front, and when we tried to, the guy cashier said system wasn't ready, so we had to wait a few minutes before we could order. The guy cashier wasn't as friendly as Nico from Boba Baba but he did answer my question about the fresh taro boba clearly. Brown Sugar boba was also not available in our 2nd visit. While Moge Tee in downtown Chapel Hill may not have the best customer service, it still exceeded our expectations when it comes to its overall milk tea quality, fresh ingredients, and inviting ambiance. It's the 7th cafe that made it to my "Best Milk Tea Cafes in the Triangle NC" Yelp Collection. Overall Score: 4.7/5

I came in with some ideas of what I wanted, but they also have a photo album full of ideas & inspiration. They helped us line up the projector to the canvas, and then we traced the outlines. After that, we went and picked out yarn colors, which are organized really well on the wall (they're also super helpful for estimating how much yarn we might need). Then we had a short tufting lesson on how to use the tufting gun and then we just went for it! I did a small rug (17" x 17"), and it took a good 1-2 hours of tufting. After finishing, the staff helped with gluing the rug, attaching it to a backing, and shaving it down. I really love how it turned out! They also have a menu with boba, which was actually really good considering they're not a boba shop. Scheduling was really straightforward - you just pick a time on their website. I signed up as a group of 4 people, and they didn't have another slot on their website, but I called and they were gracious enough to add me into the slot. We were scheduled for 2 hours starting at 6 pm, but we ended up staying an extra 2 hours (past closing too) just to finish the rugs. I felt bad, but the staff were extremely nice and courteous - they didn't try to rush us out at all even though it was well past closing for them. I'd try to schedule earlier for rug appointments so you don't run into potentially staying too late! Price was also extremely reasonable. I will definitely be back!
