While my dip mani and gel pedi came out very pretty, I felt that the pricing was really high considering the place run down, pedi chairs are very basic, super close together, nowhere to put your stuff and not super comfy. They use the dremel tool directly on your nail and don't sterilize it. As for the dip manicure, your nails are dipped directly into the jar instead of pouring on for sanitation and nothing is done to your your nails beyond filing (like soaking, pushing cuticles back, etc) and again they use the dremel tool directly on nails and skin. I chose gel on my toes because I noticed that there's nowhere to dry your pedi... $10 extra. $80 total for gel pedi and dip mani... then with tip you're almost at $100... you could get the same quality mani/pedi for same price (and sometimes less) with more sanitary practices and better quality equipment and atmosphere elsewhere. read more

A very disappointing experience today. I booked with the owner. I arrived 12 minutes late. She was with another client. I was willing to wait. After all I was a few minutes late. However I was told to sit elsewhere with another nail tech. I thought - ok she's just removing old nails. But then she actually started the SNS Dip powder nails. I asked the owner why someone else was doing my nails when I booked with her. I was told "She is just starting you - I finish". I was asked by the new tech "what color?". I referred her to the owner to explain specifically that I like them "natural with a pinker bed". The two converse in their native language and I believe this has been communicated. At the tail end of my SNS Dip nails, the owner comes over to "finish". My nails are clearly NOT done as I requested. She proceeds to fix them with a mixture of red and clear polish. This should have been done correctly the first time with the Dip powder mixture. I explain my dissatisfaction and disappointment and tell her I booked with her to avoid this from happening. However, she herself did not do my nails - someone else did, leading to a poor result. She then tried to blame me for the miscommunication. It was obvious she made the other client that she worked in & serviced during my scheduled appointment, her priority. She fit her in - taking my appointment. I will never go back. Very very poor customer service. She didn't honor my appointment and the outcome was not as I requested. read more

I always say, "you get what you pay for." So if you want a $20 pedicure, don't have high expectations. The staff is friendly enough, and there are certainly regulars that come in, chat, and have their nails done. The good parts end there. The place is not kept up, outdated, and the equipment does not appear to be properly sanitized. In fact, the place seems a bit dingy. I pass too many better nail salons to go there. I went there a day before vacation and got a full set of nails with a gel french manicure polish, the day I got home from vacation I went in and showed the owner a photo I took the day after I got them done. The cuticles were ragged, jagged and sore looking, I wasn't asking for money, all I wanted was an acknowledgment of the fact that the cuticles were terrible which by the way I had to pay an extra twenty to the girl that did them because I asked her to do a good job on my cuticles, she said fine but you'll have to pay for a manicure besides the price of a set of nails. I think places that have a lot of clients tend to get arrogant about their jobs and some treat you like it's no big deal if they lose you as a customer, well they lost me and I love my new place. read more

I am surprised that Star Nails only have two reviews so far. At first, I was questioning about this place when I searched it on google maps, seeing the street view of the place and didn't think it was good. It was a judgement based on the appearance of the store. Fortunately, I still gave it a try. It is actually my first visit. I have been doing my nails for quite a while and I also have my own tools to do gel, acrylic as well as regular mani nails. I would say that they are very regular and have an okay price. The interior of the salon is not that appealing but it seems like you can buy your own tools and leave them at the salon so whenever you visit them, the nail techs there would be using the tools you buy from them, which I personally think that is awesome idea. Clean salon with professional technicians. I had a pedi and my mom had a manicure. Comfortable chair, top notch job with pedicure. Reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and kind. I had trimmed my big toes too short and they were hurting almost ingrown and the technician helped repair that so gently. I went in with pain and experienced no pain while there and have had no pain since leaving. She cleaned and trimmed to make the nail grow in the correct direction. This was truly the worst mani / pedi that I've gotten in a VERY long time. My gel manicure lasted only six days before it started chipping on multiple nails. Worse, when the technician did my pedicure, she clipped my cuticles so roughly and jaggedly that my nail beds started bleeding in multiple places. When I asked her to be more gentle, she ignored me. I second what a previous reviewer said about the equipment not being sterilized well. They wiped out the foot bath with newspaper, and I didn't see any tools get sanitized. This was made obvious when I got a small infection in one of the cuts the day after my pedicure. This is not a good spa experience in the least - would not recommend! read more

Definitely not worth the money. I got a gift card here for Christmas (from my boyfriend who doesn't know what a nail salon should look like lol) and it's really just not a nice salon. No place to dry a pedicure, was told to get gel next time so I don't need to dry. Very small, outdated and charges the same as way nicer salons. Actually more expensive than my favorite salon in MA. Very disappointing. No base coat used under color. Definitely won't return. read more

I got a mani/pedi done here and overall my nails came out really nice and so did my toes. The staff was fine not very talkative. However my two stars is bc the equipment wasn't from what I saw sanitized very well. When my manicure was done she pulled the tools out of a draw and not from a sterilization pouch. I like when nail salons put their equipment in an autoclave and open the sterilization pouch in front of you, that way you know it's clean. I was slightly grossed out don't think I will be coming back here till they update the sanitation unfortunately... read more

I have to say, they've LOST a loyal customer! If you are looking for a good salon, KEEP LOOKING! I had been a loyal customer at this salon for over 10 years. Even though I moved quite a distance away, I still chose to travel because they had been the best. The last time I visited this salon, I was not treated well. I arrived earlier than my nail tech as I usually would. I would try to get there when they opened on a Saturday because they get busy quickly and my Saturdays are very busy as well. I was always patient when he arrived because I was used to arriving before him. He arrived, did his usual setting up and began my nails. There was almost no conversation with ME on this day but there was a lot of talk between him, his wife and other techs in their own language. He would ask me a question, I would answer and then THEY would talk. It made me feel very uncomfortable. Half way through my session he decided to clip his own nails! I did not want to say anything, but my body language was very obvious that i was becoming impatient. He finished filling, filing and buffing. We both noticed a line in the acrylic on my left thumb, but he told me to go wash my hands. I thought it was loose powder and figured it should wash off. It did not because it was indeed a line in the acrylic. I showed it to him when I sat back down. But he painted over it anyway and again conversed with his wife and the other techs in their language. It was at that moment I decided he did not value my business and disappointedly decided I would be finding a new salon. I have already shared my experience with friends and family. Came here to get a manicure since my gel had chipped during the long weekend. I decided to try this place since it was close to work. Got here about 2 hours before closing time there were a few other customers. I should had walked out when I saw their polish choices. They were few and they were low quality. They were tentative and helped me right away but the place looked dingy. Once the gentleman proceeded to do my manicure I realized it just didn't look unsanitary but it was. All the tools were dirty and even after he used them on me they were placed back in a drawer for the next customer. The chair and table were filled with previous customers nail dust and nails. They insisted on using the drill to remove my gel polish although I insisted more than 5 times he used acetone since my nails are already thin and brittle. He ended up leaving my nails paper thin and two have already broke writhing 24 hours due to this. This has to be the worst manicure I've ever got and it's sad because the staff were really friendly. This place should be inspected it's not sanitary I'm sure they are not following proper procedures. read more

This place is Horriable!!! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!! The lady there rushed my pedi and did an awful job my feet were exactly the same as I walked in. Then to make my experience there so much better during getting a full set on the lady cut me so deep on not 1, not 2, not even 3 fingers but 4!!!! I was bleeding badly and the lady didn't even say sorry or try to accommodate for it she just kept working like it wasn't there!! And to top it off with a cherry it hasn't even been a week and both my hands and feet look like shit and one of my fingers is badly infected!!! Biggest waste of 60$. Never go there read more

I went to this salon looking for great service and I was very disappointed. I intended on a mani and pedi but just got a pedi. Upon entering star nails it is evident that it is not a clean establishment. There is no air circulation or ventilation. The floor nail stations and chairs are old and dirty. The polish choices are old and diluted. No new colors. The foot spas lack space and cleanliness. I tried to stick it out as I got my pedi. I noticed they reused my nail buffer, scrub brush and scrapper on the customer next to me. The toe trimming tools were obtained from their tote which was well worn and unclean. The tools were not sterilized or from a sealed package. Which leads me to believe they don't clean them properly. Before they were able to finish my polish a waiting customer kept interrupting not wanting to wait her turn. Because of the language barrier the communication was difficult between all staff and clientele. After multiple interruptions they were rushing my pedi to satisfy the other lady. I had enough and got up to pay and leave. Overall I was truly dissatisfied with the service and lack of sanitary conditions of the tools and overall salon. I would not go there or reccomend anyone to go there for any service. They should be shut down. read more
